We order to go the platter for one that comes with rice and beans, my husband gets home to feed us and its 9 PM and the order Is here without rice and beans. I call the restaurant and the lady says u can come pick it up If you want so I am like its 9 PM and u think I'll drive back out there ?? She give me her manager Luis who literally start doubting me that the rice and beans are not there not once but twice questioned me and tells me of I am not satisfied I can bring the food back and he will refund me the money !??!?!! Stopped in Bryan Texas today for some good Mexican Food. We eat at Los Cucos often in our hometown. We had never been to this location before and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! We had Fajitas as we usually do and was very surprised how tender and delicious they were. They just melted in our mouths. This place has progressively gotten worse. My parents used to bring me here all the time and it was just okay in my younger years. There are many better places for tex mex food around town. The service is sub par and slow. Food is not very good at all. Not even the free chips and salsa. To top it all off the prices are way too high for the food. I'll start with the food it was bad I could not chew my steak fajitas and my plate looked like it was just thrown on the plate, the service was bad I did not get a refill. I took my kids to the restaurant before we received our check and when we got back to the table to pay our Togo plates were gone but the table had not been cleaned yet, they had to know we were still there because we havent paid yet. When we got back to the table the waiter apologized and brought us back your plate of food from the kitchen. My question is what where they going to do with that food eat it, or reserve it? Green salsa with the chips is yummy. Their carnitas are pretty good. The fajitas with the los cucos sauce are fantastic. My daughter enjoys the quesadillas off the healthy section because it has a lot of veggies in with the cheese and chicken. And the parrilladas platter is fantastic to share with someone. 4 stars, mostly because of my most excellent server, Marcos! It was my first time here, and I basically said, "what do you recommend?" and then decided on what he said. I had a big plate consisting of refried beans, rice, lettuce/pico salad, a small cup of tortilla soup, a beef burrito that had chunks of beef that were very flavorful, inside a flour tortilla topped with queso, and the star of the plate: a deep fried chicken and cheese stuffed avocado. That alone was enough for a meal -- it was incredibly yummy, too! The pre-meal chips and salsa are good -- warm chips with two salsas -- one a cool creamy thick green "dip" and the other a heated thin red salsa. But Marcos was the rock star of the meal, not the meal itself, although I thoroughly enjoyed that, too. I feel sorry for the servers who have to work under this manager at this restaurant. My Daughter's food was overcooked ( tamales as hard as a rock) etc. the manager came over and said he would fix it. We didn't see him after that for about 30 minutes while we were ready to leave. Had a great experience last night as I ate dinner. I was served by Diana and had a very pleasant experience. I had a refresher and that did take a while to come out but I understand as it was busy. Diana was continuously checking on me and made sure I updated it okay. My meal was the Mexican bowl. It was delicious but could have a better presentation. Mario must be a manager because I still know his name. The amount of time he checked on me was extraordinary. 3-4 times. WARNING: DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. The food here is INEDIBLE. All 7 of us sent our food back after the first bite. We came here for lunch on a Sunday after a big College Station game because every single other place we went to had at least a 45 minute wait, and Los Cucos didn't have a wait at all. Now we know why. It was absolutely shocking how terrible the food here was. Firstly, the cheese that they used appears to just be something similar to Kraft Singles. Cheese was on all 7 of our meals, so right off the bat the food was gross. My sister and I were the first to try our food. We ordered chimichangas and they were sickeningly soggy and flavorless. I looked at mine, skeptically took a bite, and spit the bite into my napkin. The entire bottom of my plate was covered in this cheesy looking water. We decided to send ours back. We didn't need to order anything else because we could tell the standard here was below anything we would ever eat. One by one the rest of the food came out. Each of our plates had beans which had a layer of CRUST on top of them when they were put on our table. I was so sickened that I didn't try the beans, but the rice was flavorless and chewy. It looked as though the plates had been sitting under a warming lamp for weeks. Two of our party got quesadillas and the cheese inside wasn't even melted. We sent them back and had them warmed up. We then realized that it wasn't an issue of how hot they were, THE CHEESE JUST GENUINELY WASNT CAPABLE OF MELTING. We spoke to the manager 3 times throughout our experience. Not only was the food the absolute most disgusting Mexican food I have ever seen, but our service was mediocre at best. We had to ask a few times for more chips and salsa, we waited significantly long periods of time with empty glasses that needed refilled, and we were met with attitudes when we kept sending back their "food." Unbearably loud mariachi will ensure you have a severe headache when you leave. The trumpet player will constantly empty his spit valve on the floor, very appetizing to see a guy drain his saliva from his instrument onto the floor of the restaurant. We waited forever for service. Literally two hours or more. Our waiter had multiple huge tables. He had one table with over 20 patrons, another with 9, and ours with 5. The first option we tried for dinner had a long wait, so we bailed and went to Los Cucos instead. We were able to walk right in on a Saturday night at 7. The food and service were not to be beat! Our server, Yanet, was exceptionally friendly and took great care of us. Drinks, chips and salsa were kept filled to the brim. Our order came out quickly and correctly. The check was split 3 different ways and she didn't flinch. I can only speak to my order, but the San Marcos combo (ordered without cheese) was SO good. The beef fajita meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. The tortillas were hot and obviously homemade. There was a generous portion of pico, shredded lettuce, and guacamole on the plate. I could have licked my plate clean of the tomatillo sauce on the chicken enchilada. It was rich and not too spicy. The chicken wasn't just your typical bland shredded chicken, but rather fajita meat as well. The rice and beans were plentiful and delicious. We changed our order to 'to go' as he assured us it was coming soon. 15 minutes later we received one dish (out of 3) that we had ordered. Also, by now, 60 minutes later, we had already settled up because we knew we had to be out of there. We got up and found a manager to refund the rest of the bill that we had paid, and hit the road. Every time I have gone (I go about 4 times a year, only because the location is convenient, and the food is good), it seems that it is our waitress's first day on the job. It takes about 15 minutes before anyone even comes to take our drink order. Then another 15 before the drinks arrive. Once we finally get our order in, I have often times had to wait an additional 45 minutes for it to come to the table. This is the case even on slow days.
