Stopped by Polly's based on a friend's recommendation. Initial impressions were good -- it's a wingman to a gas station (always a good sign), with suboptimal parking. In other words -- starting with great potential. Has a hole-in-the-wall vibe (another good thing). We arrived around noon, so sat on the breakfast vs lunch fence. In the end, went breakfast. My chilaquiles (with an over-easy egg) were quite good, though I'd take a little more kick. My wife was less impressed with her Huevos Mexicana -- a little bland for her taste, but fine. Flour tortillas were made in-house, and very good (FYI -- on the thicker side of the spectrum). Chips and salsa: salsa is more traditional texture-wise -- I usually prefer chunkier, but this had a nice flavor. Chips were good as well. Good service. Terrible service. Went to pollys cocina this morning. Waited forever to be seated, once seated we waited even longer for drinks to be taken. There was 2 other tables that come in after us. server got our drinks as well as the other 2 tables. When he came back with our drinks we finally got our (1 menu for the 5 of us to share). He proceeded to take the other 2 tables order. Waited another 5-10 minutes then decided to take our money elsewhere. This isn't the first time this has happened. Honestly? Not the worst. Also not the greatest. The food here is okay. It wasn't flavorful or seasoned well, but edible. Despite us being one of three couples there, our waitress was almost never seen. We had to ask other waitresses for refills or help. I went 04/09/2025 on my birthday for breakfast and am never going back. Absolutely do NOT recommend going here. I GOT FOOD POISONING. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is NOT the place. They didn't have any spicy salsa options only Valentina and Tabasco on the tables. There was more cheese on my chilaquiles than salsa. The beans and potatoes were extremely bland not even salt and pepper helped. The flour tortillas were bland and very clearly store bought. The tortillas I got weren't even fully cooked. They were cold and barely even malleable enough to actually make a taco with it. Also extremely dusty? Excess flour maybe? I don't know. Very unpleasant. The service was horrible our server came to check on us once and we didn't get refills. $30 for 2 people for the world's most bland food is audacious. I told my manager about my experience and he said he got food poisoning from there as well. If you've read this far and you still want to go, avoid the beans at all cost, they're what gave us food poisoning. My boyfriend didn't have beans and he didn't get sick. His food was also bland and underwhelming. I don't understand the hype it was the worst food experience I've had in the Bryan/CSTAT area. The ambiance was alright. The pictures all around the restaurant are a bit excessive and cannot believe there's actually that many "happy" customers. I have been eating at Polly's for six years now and have usually had relatively good food. Often I will order to go and the food will already be a bit cold. This evening I was waiting in the to go line with many other cars, for over forty minutes and my food was soggy and cold. I asked for them to remake my food to which the to go attendant declined stating they had it in the warmer. Eventually after none of the food was remade I asked for a refund. I am extremely disappointed with the service and quality of food today. This is not the first time I have received cold or soggy food with a sour attitude from the servers when ordering food to go. Father's Day service was a disaster. There not enough wait staff and table cleaners which lead to long waits at the front door where customers stood with the door open allowing flies to enter and cool air to escape. Coming off the George Strait concert, there were plenty hold overs that wanted breakfast. After going to Polly's Cocina for many many years , Today I was very upset on what happened with the two servers that were there so unprofessional very disrespectful to the customers to the restaurant and most importantly to Mrs. Polly who is a very loving person. Meh- a quick and quaint stop in a small hole in the wall mexican cafe. A true neighborhood location - nothing fancy just a simple meal. The taco meat was not fresh and very dry. Came in and ordered the quesadilla plate and my boyfriend got the fried avocado and it was delicious !!! If you check in on yelp you can get a free drink with your meal, and the portions are huge ! Complimentary chips and salsa , and the guy waiting on us was super friendly and fast with the refills and food. Also , they have pictures of customers all over the walls which makes the place super cute inside and cozy. Love Pollys. We visited this weekend. It was super busy. But we greeted right away. You saw the whole staff working together and making sure their guests were taken care of. Even saw Polly herself helping and talking to guests. THIS is how a restaurant should function. As a team and everyone helping out. We come often and enjoy the food and service. I am surprised little Aggies have not found this Mexican food gem. But it works for me to be able to find a table when I go to Polly's. By far the best fajitas, but the menu item that reminds me of a restaurant from home is the Mexican hamburger placed between two tortillas instead of a bun. They very sweetly do this substitution for me. The high school, hangout restaurant is long gone, but for a few minutes I have fun memories of my hometown. When the daily question of "What do y'all want for dinner?" pops up, Polly's is a winning answer the majority of the time. Tasty food at a reasonable price is exceeded only by the wonderful service. Polly's has long-been a favorite of mine. All through college and beyond. Their breakfast tacos are the best in town, and extremely affordable. Their salsa is fresh. Their tacos are yummy. And I'm not sure if they still do it, but you used to get a free marg with a meal on some nights. Taking away a star because the service is always a little spotty. read more

I have been coming to Polly's for my whole life in college station (20 years) with my family. The food has always been consistent. I love the family atmosphere here with all the pictures on the wall. I have always been a huge fan of the Texas A&M logo on the tortillas, which have remained true for my whole life. I generally just go for the basic enchiladas which are very comforting to eat and are delicious. The tacos and carne asada are also amazing as well. This place does get pretty crowded as it is small and in a gas station, but it's worth it. first time i went to get breakfast tacos... i was completely ignored by multiple staff members... i stood and waited for someone to acknowledge me for at least 10-12 minutes until i finally walked out... second time i went through the drive through and ordered huevos rancheros plate, a beef fajita & egg taco and an egg and bacon taco hue is rancheros plate... eggs and chorizo was good, potatoes were good... but the refried beans were runny and tasteless... absolutely no flavor at all... the bacon/egg taco was FULL of egg with a small sliver of half cooked bacon inside... the beef fajita/egg taco was not good... it costs $4 and the meat or not flank steak and is bland and tasteless... i won't be wasting another hard earned dime to get ignored or served slip at this place ever again my recommendation... This is my favorite TexMex restaurant in College Station! Looks can be deceiving since it's a hole in the wall restaurant attached to a gas station, but you should definitely look past the aesthetics and give the place a try. Their salsa and chips are perfect and if you can get the green sauce before they run out, it's great too! The beef fajita stuffed avocado plate is top notch and made for people with big appetites. The Aggie special is a favorite as well with a little of everything for those who have a hard time choosing one item. As an added bonus, all their tortillas are stamped with the ATM logo!
