During the research process, the Los Gatos office staff was flexible and patient, and not pushy. They answered many questions and then sent their Project Manager, Bret, to check out our existing roof. Bret was THE BEST! Super knowledgable, provided great explanations/examples of different options that would fit w/in our budget, and again, was extremely patient w/ my questions. 2 DAYS! That's how long it took to take off my old roof and replace it w/ a brand new shingle roof! We had a new roof and gutter system installed and there were many color options for both. At the beginning of the process, they covered the pool to limit the amount of dust/debris that would fall into it and provided instructions about how to protect items in the house/garage. My neighbors were impressed at how quickly Bret's team worked. They were efficient, not excessively noisy (no loud radios), and respectful of the hours they worked. At the end of Day 2, the Los Gatos team cleaned up the yard, swept the area around the house, and (I think) even swept inside my garage - it looked cleaner than when they began. Follow-up included a walk around w/ Bret. He showed me pics of the roof and also scheduled the inspection (he handled all the paperwork too)! Between the research process w/ the Office Staff (Lisa in particular) and the actual work/post-work communication (Bret), Los Gatos made the whole process transparent and simple. A roof is a major investment, but I had confidence in Los Gatos b/c of how up front they were about costs and how quickly they responded to my questions as I was comparing quotes. Our last roofing company didn't want out of business nearly the week after they installed it so we were looking for a reputable, stable company that stands behind their work. Craig from LG Roofing gave us some great advice on exactly what we needed for our roof, vent and gutter setup. After contacting and researching 13 roofing companies, my HOA decided to contract with Los Gatos Roofing to replace our 50 year old tile roofs. This was a very expensive, large scale project of plywood installation, waterproof membrane installation and tile replacement for 48 townhomes in the community. LGR was not the cheapest or most expensive quote we received, but solidly in the middle. We decided to go with LGR because we were impressed with their reviews, their inclusive quote and their long history in the San Jose area. We also really appreciated the time that Craig and Randy took to educate our board of directors regarding the details of the job before we even signed a contract. Our project manager was Craig Gonzales. He followed the job from start to finish. He was usually on site twice a day and kept us in the loop about everything that was happening. There were a few hiccups along the way, which is to be expected, but LGR handled everything professionally and to our HOA's satisfaction. LGR's crews were on site, on time every morning and worked long hours to keep the job moving along. LGR is one of the few roofing companies that employs all their workers, they do not sub out gutter installation or roof tear off to other companies. LGR has separate crews for tear off, roofing and gutters. Everyone gets to do what they are trained to do and everyone is directly accountable to the project manager. We were impressed with all the crews assigned to our project and the individuals assigned to run each crew. Ultimately, LGR ended up finishing the job under the proposed timeline. They even redesigned our gutter and downspout system to correct flaws that had been present since 1977! Flaws that had continuously caused clogs and overflowing gutters are now gone! I was told by another roofer that my pitched roof needs replacement now (few shingles on ridge were showing wear) and I called Los Gatos Roofing for a second opinion. Two years ago Los Gatos roofing replaced my roof, gutters, and downspouts. All good! Now I'm getting a solar install and the installer flagged my power meter and main circuit breaker (which they need to replace) as being too close to the corner with its gutter downspout. Los Gatos roofing moved and extended my downspout to resolve the code problem. Furthermore the manager decided to call it a "warranty issue" so they fixed it without charge. I can't and don't recommend Los Gatos Roofing to anyone. They installed a new roof on my house in October of last year and there were more issues than I thought there should be.  I had two sun tunnel skylights I wanted to reuse. All they had to do was unscrew and remove the cap before removing the old roof. They didn't. They just scraped the entire outside parts off with the old shingles, yanking on the tunnels so hard that it damaged the ceilings in both bathrooms and made the interior skylight parts fall which chipped toilet bowls and seats. To their credit, and only after I complained, they paid for new skylights and installed the roof parts, leaving me to repair the ceilings and finish the interior install. LGR cut an unnecessary extra hole in the roof for a bathroom vent I didn't have. I had to go up in my attic to cut the hose off the vent so I could install it myself where it was supposed to be.  They went around the house with magnets picking up nails and screws but still managed to leave seven nails on my driveway. Seven! I'm glad I found them before my tires did. LGR nailed through a Romex cable that admittedly shouldn't have been where it was, but it was visible from outside and the previous roofers avoided it. Nailing through the cable created a circuit that electrified the roof channels all the way to the other side of the house and started popping a breaker when they installed a drip channel. They were very little help figuring out the problem. I had to fix that myself too. One of those drip channels looked like reused garbage. It was all wrinkled. The salesman was surprised it looked so bad, and they replaced it after I pointed it out.  Before the install, I informed my salesman that I previously had to fix a leak myself where the roof meets my sunroom and asked they use a larger flashing in that area. They did, but it leaks again in the same place. It leaked the first rain after the roof was put on last year, and leaked during the first rain this year. I emailed on November 15th and asked if they could send a tech out to help find the leak. After a few emails back and forth, with me having to wait 2 or 3 days for replies, they offered to stop by himself and take a look. They never did. I called the office and asked for help. They gave me a vague answer about opening a ticket that I would have to call back and check on. They emailed me on 11/26 and said they would contact me last week. Never heard from them... again. It's December 12th and I can't believe they're going to call me. I can tell when I'm being ignored and a company doesn't want to help me. I offered to pay for a service call and maybe even the repair but nobody at Los Gatos Roofing can be bothered to help me. At this point, I'm completely done with them. The roof looks ok, but my issues and the lack of care about a leak is enough for me to strongly suggest you use a different company for your roofing needs. read more

Daniel was great to work with from first estimates all the way through inspection. During the estimate process another company said we had double shingles and they would need to charge us for additional labor because of this. I told Daniel about this and he came out to double check. He confirmed we did not have double shingles! We put minimal amount down payment and the balance was due after inspection. I just had Los Gatos Roofing install a new roof on my house. From start to finish, the process was hassle-free. Brandon Sisk was my main contact and he stayed in contact, explaining everything every step of the way. The initial estimate visit was very thorough and Brandon explained everything I needed to know about getting a new roof. He pointed out what some of the problems might be when construction started (old plywood base which might be the wrong thickness and out of code, possible water damage). Both were issues it turned out. The crew that showed up was very efficient and thorough. They removed the existing roof and started on the repairs right away. When the day ended the repairs were mostly done and the shingle installation was started. Before they left, the crew diligently cleaned up the property. The next day, the crew returned to finish. The rest of the shingles were installed and the repairs were completed. The shingles and the ridge vents looked great (both in appearance of the shingles themselves and quality of installation.) The repairs consisted of wood repair and replacement and stucco repair (all quality work.) The day ended with another thorough cleanup of the property and if you didn't notice the new roof, you wouldn't have known there was a work party there that day. Last July, I decided to go solar before the unfortunate demise of the federal tax credit. The roof on my Corey Neighborhood (San Jose) home was 29 years old, so it only made sense to re-roof prior to the solar install. I had five roofing contractors come by to provide estimates. Only two provided material brochures, and of those only Los Gatos Roofing (LGR) brought actual samples of roof tiles and OSB (manufactured wood) sheathing. Project manager Jon F. was cordial and generous with his time, and explained in detailed yet understandable terms his recommendations as to materials and approach. An engineer, I really appreciated this. Jon emailed an estimate within a day or so. Three of the other contractors provided significantly lower bids, yet after further conversation with Jon and noting that LGR has been in business for some 25 years I felt most comfortable with them and signed up. I needed to schedule the roof project ASAP to expedite the solar project; this resulted in a three-day work schedule hopefully ending on Halloween (Friday) or otherwise into the following week. I was nervous about this as I didn't want debris or equipment on my property while trick-or-treaters were present. Jon assured that everything would be take care of. The work crew consisted of the Ramirez brothers--David, Pedro and Roberto. They were fantastic: everything went like clockwork, yet they made time for questions and even enjoyable conversation. The roof was water-tight at the end of the first day. To my amazement and great appreciation, the job was completed at the end of the second day--Halloween eve, one day early! I walked the property and found no debris other than a couple of nails on the garage floor (where they did not have access). The following weekend I went up on the roof and had a good look. The work was beautiful, nothing out of place or missing. There was no debris and the gutters were spanking clean. During the process, Jon came by several times to make sure everything was in order. He was always available by phone to answer questions and even went into my attic twice to cover and uncover my HVAC equipment to catch debris. I greatly appreciated that Jon stayed with my project throughout. The roof inspection was performed today and not a single issue was found. The solar install and inspection have been scheduled with three weeks to spare. Based on my experience, I highly recommend LGR. You may pay more, but IMO the premium is worth the quality, timeliness and peace of mind. read more

Went with Los Gatos Roofing for re-roofing - they installed our roof 33 years ago from our first remodel and put on our 2nd story roof (next remodel) 27 years ago.
