As a first-timer here, I was pleasantly surprised by the gradual incline and found the difficulty level to be manageable. In fact I saw people of all ages along the trail, including babies and senior citizens, and a bunch of unleashed dogs too. There were a few grazing cows, but otherwise we didn't encounter many animals nor pesky flying insects during our trek. Beware, the climb does become steeper and more challenging the closer you get to the top. It's a workout on the way down as well, but not as tiring. My legs didn't really feel it till the next day. Be ready for sore muscles! We got lucky with the weather, as it wasn't scorching hot, rather sunny and breezy on this beautiful spring day. The season may affect your experience as there's minimal shade. But plenty of opportunities to take a break and enjoy the views while surrounded by lovely scenery and grassy hills. Several benches along the way too. This was a nice hike, mildly challenging for the most part, with ample space on the wide gravel and dirt trails, so it doesn't feel too crowded even with many visitors on site. There are also restrooms (porta potties), free parking for convenience, and an alternate (though longer) route via Ohlone. Much to appreciate about Mission Peak.

Took me a bit over 4 hours of a hike with few breaks. Start to finish get back to the same spot. Bring at least two bottles of water per person. Wear a hat. Sunglasses. Sturdy shoes Walk carefully over the rocks, don't want to hurt yourself and it gets slippery in some spots Choice of Trails: 1) Beginner trail- from ohlone college. Less steep, more trees for shade in the beginning. Longer. 2) Stanford trail - steep but shorter Saw some cows along the way on the Ohlone trail just lounging around and eating or taking a break in the sun! You get real close to them! Just don't touch them

The previous day I received a text at 5pm telling me my dive is going to be rescheduled from 10am to 11:30am due to weather (which when I checked was going to be foggy all day as well so I felt like there would've been a strong possibility of them rescheduling on me again). I replied stating I will not be able to make it, they've notified me too late as well (not even a full days notice) & asked if there was another Friday I can reschedule to. I mentioned my boyfriend's elder family member has been experiencing serious life threatening medical issues and that we won't be able to make it any time soon. I asked to reschedule to a later Friday and they requested a doctors note for proof or they'd keep my $100 deposit as a "no show fee" (which is a lot for me as a broke college student). I had mentioned I am not comfortable asking for a doctors note due to the severity of the situation, my boyfriend & many of his family ended up getting weeks off work, that's how severe the situation was. In the end I GOT GHOSTED!!! A front desk person stated management would get back to me--They haven't replied to my text or email which was sent 5/1!!! Very disappointing situation & very disappointing the way they operate business! I was really looking forward to this experience, all I wanted to do was to reschedule the skydive!

Started with bagged lunches (deli sandwiches), about 25 people total in our large group (international colleagues from North/South America and Europe, minus Australia). Out of the five boats, the female captain was the race director for the day and we had to navigate the differently-colored buoys floating in the water. Not all of the boats were identical (make/model, size, age?) so there was an adjustment/differential to the final times, but all were generally recent model monohull sailboats 30-45 feet long. Grey Goose, Ry Whitt, Survivor, Liberty, and one other boat I can't recall the name of (might've been Attitude Adjustment) were our racing sailboats for the afternoon regatta, teams of 4-5. I was assigned to Liberty, a beautiful 38-foot Beneteau. Our US Coast Guard certified captain/skipper from Modern Sailing School was Bill and also served as our tactician; one of our guys took the driver role/steering to telltales, and another was in charge of the mainsail. Another took one side for the jib sail and I took the other side depending on if we needed to tack or jib (gybe), our fifth person assisted where needed with ropes/wench handles, etc. The weather was fine -- the fog lifted and the sun came out making for great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco city skyline, the Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz. I'd done whitewater rafting and 2-person kayaking before, snorkeling and parasailing but this was my first time sailing! We had a little bit of time to practice and literally "learn the ropes" and fundamentals before the motor was turned off and the official race started at 1:00 PM. The two basic turning maneuvers/techniques with the skipper strategically navigating us through using the wind speed/direction (especially through Hurricane Gulch) and sea state/tides (smooth vs choppy water) was challenging but fun. Not only were we racing each other and trying to round our marks along the course, but there were of course other fishing boats, ferries, Hornblower cruise ships, windsurfers, and paddleboarders in the water too -- even saw a few seals! The race time on the water was around 2 hours for our team (keep in mind the boats were only traveling maybe 8 miles per hour) but lunch was included on land as well as an awards reception (beer/champagne, medals) for all of the teams afterward. We weren't first, but we weren't last either! If you're feeling "nauti" and the line where the sky meets the sea calls you, let your inner Moana/Maui try out wayfinding with the winds in your sails on the SF Bay at Modern Sailing School!
