Let's taco bout the great service we received at this festive bayside cantina! We were warmly welcomed and were seated by the window overlooking a beautiful view of the water... boats bobbing along the piers and seagulls circling above. Our server, Raul, quickly took our drink orders and before you could say "burrito" we had our drinks and chips and salsa delivered!. We did order some queso as well and it was warm, rich and creamy. My friend ordered the Philly cheesesteak burrito which was humongous! He could only eat half! We split the chicken fajitas which came out sizzling hot with peppers and onions tortillas, with rice and black beans. Delish! The prices didn't empty our wallet, and we will definitely come back! This place is a really good spot for good Mexican food in Colonial Beach! Service is quick and attentive and food is well prepared and generous portion sizes. There are all different areas for seats to include some outside tables. On Mother's Day it was rather loud inside (honestly mainly due to one table with an overly loud man), but we had a good visit and got a Mother's Day treat at the end! Pros: We chose to share the margarita flight--the pan (pomegranate) and strawberry flavors were very good. The taquitos mexicanos were a hit: the chicken was good and the steak was great. The tableside guacamole service was excellent. Portions were generous; I had plenty to take home and it was still fresh and delicious two days later. We also enjoyed the décor, and the staff was very friendly. When they found out one of us was celebrating a birthday, they brought out a sombrero and fireworks and treated the birthday guest to a complimentary shot of tequila--definitely bottom-shelf quality, but free is free! Cons: The blue and mango margaritas were bland. Overall: We had a fun and enjoyable experience with friendly service, festive touches, highlighted by great food and tableside guacamole. Ona day trip to Colonial Beach the last thing we thought we would have for lunch was Mexican food. We are so glad we found Los Hermanos Cantina. I had the lunch portion chimichanga and my husband had the pork tacos. Both dishes were delicious! I ordered a margarita expecting a small glass and was pleasantly surprised with the extra large margarita. The house margarita mix was delicious! My husband had two beers. We had a $65 lunch ( a usual price for a dinner but I splurged on the $15 margarita) When we arrived we were the only diners on the deck overlooking the marina. It is a pleasant view with boats, ducks and a swan couple. When we left, the deck had filled with a happy lunchtime crowd. The wait staff were awesome and just attentive enough. this place was awesome! After living out west and being exposed to all kind of Mexican fare from Baja to Tex Mex, finding this place was special. They have a firm grasp on the basics and it was present in their salsa, rice and beans... but their entries were top notch, fajitas that were mostly meat and not veggies (although the veggies were prepared with care) and seasoned just so, loads of flavor, but not heat just for the sake of heat. the spouse had a great chimichanga, which is a Tucson specialty but it was done just right here, crema sauce that was a pleasant compliment to the crispy shell. All in all, great portions, great flavor and the place was clean and the staff was courteous and service was prompt. Nice seats overlooking the marina with a vibe that was relaxed. We hit it at lunch, so it was not crowded although by the size of the place, they can hold a pretty good crowd. If you looking for a place with flavor done right, I have no probs giving this place a thumbs up. read more

This place was phenomenal!! We came in for dinner just before 7p on a Saturday night for the two of us in August. We sat immediately outside by the water with a gorgeous view! We had a great fresh tableside guacamole. I had yummy steak fajitas and my husband LOVED his Chori-Steak! A T-bone topped with chorizo and cheese sauce is a perfect combo and literally the best Mexican dish my husband ever had. We were done with the food in an hour! The service was great and quick!! I love this place and have been numerous times; always great!! Recent visit at dinnertime on New Years Eve was the only time I have been let down. Ordered cocktails to go at the bar before heading home. It was around 6pm, we did not order food, just wanted to enjoy a cocktail at home, and always liked their drinks. There was confusion about whether we could get them to go, but they said "Okay". We got home and was dismayed that there was absolutely no alcohol in our drinks; just straight margarita mix and mojito mix. I always like to watch them prepare the drinks and did remark to my wife that I never saw the server add alcohol, but figured I was distracted. Nope, no alcohol! And no, it was not busy at all; it was very early! Don't get me wrong, I will still go there because of the friendly staff and great food; just disappointed spending 30 bucks for a non-alcoholic drink. read more

We had a nice lunch at Los Hermanos. The wait staff is very pleasant and attentive. The views of the water are lovely, and they have a nice outdoor patio on the water when the weather is nice (not when it is 99 degrees!). They have decent lunch specials for $10. I got the chicken and spinach burrito- the sauce was a tad too creamy for me but nothing more red salsa couldn't fix! My husband's burrito bowl was ok but nothing special. So glad that I found this spot! I have eaten in many Mexican restaurants, and I think this is the first one that brought me good salsa with the chips (I usually have to ask, right away, for something spicier). Chile relleno was delicious, and even the refried beans had great flavor! No additional seasonings needed - no need to drown any of it in salsa. Beautiful view from the rear dining area, and several tables on the back deck with umbrellas for shade. Service was also excellent. If we were going to be here longer, I'd be returning! read more

Surprising niche Mex restaurant near the Potomac. We came on a Sunday afternoon after driving about for a bit. Parking lot was ample. We were greeted and sat outside promptly. Still a bit chilly in early spring, but fine enough. Service was very attentive. We ordered chips and guac as a starter - super good and you could tell it was freshly made. Chips seemed bottomless although I don't think we would get to the bottom. Salsa was good too. Entrees were presented rather quickly. Food was legit. Didn't seem canned mexi-meal. My go to place for my regular "I need a break" dinner. I'll roll in and grab table by the bar. Friendly waiter delivers the free chips and salsa. We visited Colonial Beach for the day and decided to try this restaurant because they had waterfront dining and as vegetarians, we always know we can find something simple to eat without meat. Our server was a very positive, professional, kind young man, who wasn't fluent in English; and I'm one of those customers who have lots of questions or clarifications (we are vegetarian and kinda picky). I asked if the refried beans were made with lard and if the rice was made with chicken stock. He tried so hard but couldn't quite understand what I was asking, so I asked if he would ask the other server who we saw was speaking pretty fluent English to come over to our table for a minute. He came over and we explained being vegetarian and wanted to find out about the rice and beans. He understood and explained that indeed, both are made with chicken flavoring. I thanked him and then the other server came back to take our order. We placed our order with a few alterations/omissions and he worked diligently to understand what we wanted to change and came back twice to be sure he had written everything down correctly. I was already impressed by his care and concern to take our requests seriously. But throughout our whole meal, I was simply astounded at the level of service he (and other servers) provided, never letting our drinks or chips bowl get even halfway down before asking to refill for us. Once our food was delivered, it was presented so nicely and exactly how we ordered it. Within a minute of getting our food, the other, more-fluent English speaking server came to our table (we think he may have been the manager or owner) with a plate of plain rice, with no seasoning, having made it special for us so we could have some rice while keeping it vegetarian. It was SO very thoughtful and considerate and obviously didn't charge us for this gesture either. As for the food itself - my wife got the vegetarian combo which was a mushroom quesadilla, a cheese enchilada and a potato burrito. She had ordered the enchilada without red sauce and he had even asked if she would like cheese sauce instead (which she did). I got the veggie fajitas, altered to only have peppers, mushrooms and onions. We shared chips, salsa and a side of queso and two Dr. Peppers (because they serve Pepsi and we are Coke people). There were only two items we didn't love - the potato burrito was just mashed potatoes in a flour tortilla, so you can imagine that's pretty carby and plain. But the quesadilla and enchilada were delicious, she said. My fajitas were excellent and they also, per my request, included some lettuce with my set up of pico and sour cream. The rice, was literally white rice, but I am NOT complaining about that because of how incredibly kind it was to even make it for us without us asking. The queso was the typical plain queso blanco most of Virginia Mexican restaurants offer, with no peppers or onions or anything mixed with it, which my wife loves. I did, as I usually do in Mexican restaurants, and asked for an empty bowl to mix some of the queso and the salsa for better flavor and texture (I'm from Texas and queso is different to me). So then when the meal was over, of course we wanted to tip well so we paid in cash and gave him 25% (after tax). He came to pick up the check booklet and we waved that we didn't need change. A few minutes later, he came back to our table to thank us and even shook our hand. It was so sweet and unnecessary, but he clearly appreciated it as much as we had appreciated him. We have, over the course of the pandemic, noted that service just isn't what it used to be, and prices have skyrocketed for typically smaller portions or less options. This restaurant turned all of those experiences upside down and we can recommend it 100% as a great place to eat when visiting Colonial Beach. The view and cleanliness of the restaurant also were spectacular. read more

The food and service here were fantastic! The dishes are reasonably priced and the portions were generous and seasoned well. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. The server brought chips and salsa to the table right away. The chips were warm and the salsa was tasty. The only thing I think needs improvement is the alcohol in the drinks. It's barely noticeable in the cocktails, at least in the Bahama Mama I had, and seemed almost nonexistent in the strawberry daiquiri. That being said, I would eat here again and unreservedly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food. read more

What a pleasant surprise! My wife, daughter, and I discovered the Los Hermanos Cantina while out for a stroll last night, and I am SO glad we did. Although they were incredibly busy with the dinner rush, we were quickly greeted and seated and had ice water and chips/salsa within 5 minutes. When you're hungry and tired (I ran the DHRT 50K earlier in the day) and dining with a toddler these little things make all the difference. Our meals of chicken fajitas and ahi-tuna tacos came out super fast and were quite delicious, and the beautiful views of the Potomac River during our meal helped keep our daughter entertained. We also loved the decor and I got a cute picture of my wife and daughter in front of some pretty artwork. Plus the drinks: TOP-SHELF! I thoroughly enjoyed my Mexican Mule while my wife enjoyed her Mojito. From the second we sat down until we left (which was only 45 minutes...compared to our last dining experience at a different Colonial Beach restaurant took 2+ hours), our server was incredibly attentive, and I told him how much I appreciated it as we departed. This is by FAR our new favorite Colonial Beach restaurant and I am already looking forward to our next visit. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We had a really nice meal there today. Great location too, on the water in Colonial Beach VA on Monroe Bay. Started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was Mucho Yummyo! I know, my Spanish is no Bueno ;) For the Sushi lovers, this Ahi Tuna is a must! Then we had the Vegetable Fajitas and the Chicken Fried Rice. (In case you were wondering, this is not your Chinese style fried rice.) It was very tasty and loved the light cheesy sauce in this rice.
