I called Alpha fire to find out whether it was necessary to have the fire sprinkler system in my…read morehome checked. I feel the information I got on the phone was misleading. The women told me that many people get their system inspected once a year implying that it was very important to have an inspection. It turns out virtually no residential user does that, businesses do because their systems are required to be inspected once a year. She also told me that the cost would be $250 and it might only take 45 minutes and wanted to be sure I was OK with that. I said yes. It didn't take 45 minutes it took under 10 minutes. All the technician did was turn a water valve on for less than a minute to see if the bell would ring. It did and he was done. He would've been done in five minutes except he couldn't get the valve to turn easily. The technician said he never been asked to do a residential inspection before. I paid the $250 but feel misled and ripped off.

The office staff was on top of it with fast scheduling plus they were knowledgeable about the process (from the home visit to getting the detailed quote via email). I also found their quote to be reasonable given th repair issues with the furnace. We haven't scheduled the work yet since we're just settling in (& it's still summer) but it's on the To Do list so I'll be following up with Smith Electric soon! The first time I called this company the service was great. Maria was very friendly, and…read moreinformative. She helped me to service the 5 extinguishers in our building and her price was good. However, when I called her to complete the service this year, she arrived 20 minutes late to our initial appointment stating that she could not find the building. I didn't think much of it. We discovered that 3 of the extinguishers needed to be replaced because they were installed in 2019. They were Buckeye extinguishers, and Maria told me that she didn't trust that brand because she had a bad experience getting them to pressurize and preferred a different brand. She offered me a 10lb extinguisher for $199. I was ready to move forward servicing the other extinguishers that didn't need to be replaced, while I looked into whether I was responsible for purchasing new ones or if the owners of the building provided them. She said she would rather do it all at once because the credit cards charge a lot for each transaction. I agreed and told her I would call her back when I know how to proceed and she left. I looked into it and I am responsible for purchasing the new extinguishers. Now, we are run by a nonprofit and I needed to make sure I was being fiscally responsible so I shopped around and was able to find the same AMEREX 10lb extinguishers she was selling me for $100 each. So I went ahead and purchased them. I'd like to be clear, at no time did I commit to purchasing the extinguishers from HER. Once the extinguishers arrived, I called Maria to come in and complete the service she had started. We set an appointment for 3pm. She called me at 1:15 and asked to change it to 3:30, I told her I could not be available at that time, so we agreed that she would instead come at 2pm. Her reasoning for wanting to change the time was that she had another call before me and didn't think she would get to me on time. She came in and when we opened the boxes for the extinguishers I had purchased, one was broken. I told her I needed to see if I would be able to just return the one broken one and not all three since they came as a set. I was in my office talking to customer service and she heard I ordered them on Amazon instead of buying them from her and she flipped. She said she didn't want to do the job anymore, that I was wasting her time, that she had to come back 2 times. I reminded her that there was no way I could have known the last time she came that they would need to be replaced. It is not something she mentioned on the previous visit. I also told her It was not my fault it arrived broken. Admittedly, I could have opened the boxes before she arrived, but I didn't have a reason to. I waited until the professional arrived to do it. She just kept going on about how her time is valuable and I was wasting it to save some money. I honestly couldn't believe that she flipped out like that. It was extremely unprofessional, and rude. It was to the point that my employees came in from the other room to make sure everything was OK. She says she refuses to do my job anymore, but after the way she treated me, I would never call her again.
