The installation Technician "Nacho" went above and beyond to make sure the security gate worked properly along with the alarm systems. He stayed till everything worked perfectly and even installed our Fire Departments Knox box for the final on our building after we had a fire the previous year. From the excellent customer service in their scheduling office, to the 3 installers who showed up to do the job, you want to use this company if you care about the security of your home or business. Scott, Kent, Dylan and Junior were all excellent communicators and patient in explaining everything they were doing. I'm no tech genius and getting up there in years, so if I can quickly learn a home security system that I can use both on my home TV and on my smart phone, anyone can. CALL ALARMGRID.com! I was looking for an alarm company that could provide actual accountability for the service you pay for and honest service. I called Smith Alarms out of Santa Maria. These guys operate like a car sales lot. I had to call twice to get a response on the phone and they did not respondto my email back to them like they said they would. Then they had some story about charging $129 for some necessary part first. And I needed to sign a 3 year contact too. It seemed to me liked he was trying to set up me to buy a new alarm system saying "the 3gig Edge system was not set up to be taken over by a new company - so you need to know we may not be able to take that service over even after you give us $129". So I googled "alarm monitoring company" and found AlarmGrid.com. They said nothing about not being able to take it over. They said it was bogus about the $129 part. Stating with ALARMGRID.com Within 3 days I was scheduled for a new monitoring system using the same app alarm.com. NO EXTRA FEES! No new alarm system! It was so easy! No contract & $5-10 a month cheaper a month! Best of all - you can reach a manager or get reg. help you thru their website chat, And they will call you ASAP! What a story Smith Alarm has to get more money out of us!!! I do not appreciate the Car Sales type dishonesty of adding on unnecessary charges to my simple request. read more

I recently upgraded my 20 year old Morse Optex alarm system. I got bids from several local alarm system vendors and compared 2Gig and Honeywell systems. I compared online equipment prices to the local bids. I chose Smith's Alarms for several reasons. 1. They were also the most reasonable bid by far and had the lowest monthly monitoring fees compared to the other local vendors. 2. They took the most time to evaluate my old system and make recommendations for the upgrade. 3. As a retired police chief, I am very cautious and particular with whom I select to do work on my house. Company and employee ethics and integrity are very important to me. Smith's employees who worked on my upgrade showed such integrity and ethics and were very professional with their installation. 4. My upgrade required a lot of work not only to the existing house but also included my detached garage and running CAT 5 cable to it for doors, motions, and additional siren. Every window, door and fire alarms were hardwired with the previous system. Switching over to the 2Gig system was technically relatively simple utilizing Take switches in the alarm box to convert the wired zones to wireless. I did upgrade the smoke and heat detectors. I monitored the upgrade very closely and was very pleased with the installation. I am very happy with the new 2Gig system. I can monitor and control my alarm system remotely via my phone app, computer or keyfobs in addition to the new digital control keypads. The monthly monitoring fee is about the same with the new system as I've been paying for the past 20 years. I would recommend Smith's alarms. Do your homework and research like I did and I think you will find that Smith's Alarms is the company to go with. read more
