We'd heard Los Panchos was doing some top-quality birria-focused dishes, so obviously we had to check the place out.
We arrived around lunchtime on a recent Sunday and the place was pretty much empty. After being handed our menus, we were presented with complimentary nachos and dip. These were actually really, really good, as the nachos were crispy and not too salted, and the hot sauce was spicy and kind of different from other hot sauces.
For our main dishes, we decided to share the Burrito Birria ("Flour tortilla wrapped with beans, mozzarella, birria and guacamole") and the Chorizo Quesadilla. Both dishes arrived fairly quickly and sure looked appetizing.
And yeah, it's good food. Neither concoction blew us away, mostly because both were lacking in bold, exciting flavors, but the various components worked well together and they obviously used top-notch ingredients.
The biggest disappointment for me was the lack of hot sauce. At most similar places, you're presented with an array of unique, spicy hot sauces, but here you don't get a single one. It was a baffling omission to be sure.
That minor hiccup aside, we enjoyed our food at Los Panchos quite a bit. And everything was very reasonably priced, too. read more
