Worst Chile rellenos- well up there in the worst I've had. Batter was thick no fluff at all and it came soggy. Cheese was like mild cheddar I just prefer Monterey. Posole was bland, beans meh. Sopapilla was ok but nothing standout. It just was not very good seemed premade and reheated Desserts were overrated too. Had a couple chocolates a white chocolate peppermint and lemon crunch. They just amazed up peppermint candies and lemon heads and set them in white chocolate. Not bad but not what I expected. The strawberry rhubarb hand pies were not very good- crust or filling wise. The lemon meringue wasn't better than any mediocre store bought one from a Walmart or somewhere. Nice staff, disappointing food. Have tailored expectations if you visit but maybe mine was a fluke.

Given that most local diners, in this very rural area, must travel to destinations it is above frustrating to always find this place closed. For this reason, I do not recommend wasting time trying to find them open for business.

The topped the burrito with green and red sauce... delicious!!! The flour tortillas were warm and soft awesome. As for the service... not good! The bartender is a rockstar, but the other server was not good. Forgot to give our drink order, forgot we asked for water, and forgot the beer I ordered. Actually, the food made up for it! Give ECT a try if you're in the Santa Fe Plaza area.

Would never come back again. ============= This review got flagged by Yelp HQ, let me rewrite this and be clear of what happened. I walked into El Callejon Taqueria and Grill, located on 208 Galisteo St Santa Fe, NM 87501 on Aug 22 2026. It was on a Saturday night, right before 9pm. This was my first weekend in the city of Santa Fe, on both Yelp and Google this location shows the restaurant closes at 11pm. When I walked in the bartender told me that it was closed. I wouldn't care that a business is closed before the listed hours; it was the way the bartender went about it. He could have politely told me that the kitchen was closed, and I would not have had any problem with it. He walked up to me within arm's length and continuously repeated "sorry we are closed" multiple times while getting closer to me. It was one of the worst experiences I have had to get escorted "asked" out of a restaurant. The experience was not good. To be clear I never get to try the food here.

The enchiladas consisted of small hard bits of meat scattered through a soupy mix of shredded cheese and watery red sauce. I understand that this restaurant has a storied past, and was previously a favorite stop for many former governors. But I fear those days are long past.

Adam is the perfect person to introduce one to his family's establishment. Explains everything for the newbies. Patient and erudite. Such poise in such a young person. It's a small dining area. Clearly a local fave. Phone was ringing off the hook. But many clearly knew their way around. A few ppl walked in, placed their order and said they'd be back at such and such a time. There's only a small kitchen We got to mean Domenic, our cook A sweetheart and a skilled chef. The food itself seems straightforward and pretty simple, but each dish had its own flavor which I think is pretty hard to do and each was so satisfyingly delicious. I think I would've bn satisfied with just the menudo and the half order of nachos, but didn't know it at the time we ordered so we went on and got the El Faro burger, my friend ordered the cheese enchiladas and of course we got the chile Christmas on the side. Fantastic! And a tremendous value. We were quite shocked that our entire meal, including 2 sodas came to less that $40, such that we left double that bc these small businesses are such treasures and we want such places to remain in business. Seemed there were quite a few locals but also lots of travelers coming through. I certainly plan to be back soon!
