Olivia's Cafe is the right spot for breakfast/brunch, and a great alternative to the ever-popular Charlie's Spic and Span. Carne adobada with a couple of fried eggs and home style papas are delicious. Sapaipillas and/or tortillas round out a perfect New Mexican meal. read more

I suggest ordering prior to arriving. The wait time is usually 30/45 mins. The chile is spicy and SO tasty if you can handle the heat order Christmas. My normal order is a breakfast burrito no meat smothered with green and red Chile. They don't normally add chili inside the burrito you have to request it. Restaurant is always packed-it's clean and they sell books, hoodies and tee shirts from the two school districts. If you're in the area and have to time to dine in I recommend checking them out. read more

Met a retired teacher yesterday evening who told me about Olivia's. I was very excited to try it. Like many others, I went to the listed location, which is not correct. As Merrie S. noted, the correct address is 825 Mills Avenue. Arrived at 10am, hoping that they would serve lunch that early. Surprise! They serve breakfast AND lunch all day! Ordered the chili relleno plate. Asked for a chili without meat - really happy to find out they don't use meat in any of their chilis! Got the green. Food was amazing! Two crispy fried rellenos, with gooey cheese and the best green chili I've had in a long time. (Don't tell anyone in Pueblo, Colorado I said that - there's a big rivalry between Hatch and Pueblo chiles.) Whole pinto beans and Spanish rice rounded out the plate. I would have preferred the sopapilla be served after I'd finished the plate - had to ask for honey - but it was good. You won't be disappointed! read more

Outside Seating by the plaza and a wealth of welcome. The thin slice omelette ingredients and home fries presented an interesting texture and elegant taste of simple flavors. My son had 1/2 his porkchop with a warm tortilla and was immediately full. Now it will be a second meal. Come check this spot out! read more

Breakfast here can't be beat. While in town for a short stay we popped in and enjoyed a smothered breakfast burrito and heuvos rancheros and both were equally delicious. The Chile is spicy but so flavorful! We tried both red and green and had a hard time choosing a favorite. Our waitress was so kind, friendly, welcoming and just really amazing. OMG. I thought $13 for the chili rellenos plate was expensive. But after we were served the two huge rellenos and ate one each with the ample portions of real beans and delicious rice we we both stuffed. So this lunch for two actually turned out to be a bargain. To me, the hallmark dish for Mexican food is the chili relleno. The cook on it here was absolutely perfect. It was lightly battered and fried to a gentle crisp on the outside. That is hard to do since not very many can accomplish it. The chili itself had enough crunch that I had to ask if it was fresh. (It was not and I did not expect so since it is not chili season.) The cheese on the inside was perfect. My kudos go to Olivia herself who is the cook here. The other lady cashier/waitperson was engaging and congenial. Sitting outside with the plaza around was delightful. The three white guys at another table said that this was the least expensive Mexican food in town. I wish that I lived near here so that I could try Olivia's other dishes. WARNING! The City of Las Vegas has installed some vicious speed bumps on the streets that go to the Plaza. They are unsigned and largely unmarked since the paint has worn off. Shame on them for mistreating their tourists that are trying to support the community read more

We were driving back home to Simi Valley, CA and we were looking for a good place to have breakfast. We stopped by Olivia's by accident and we are glad we did. We were promptly seated and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. I ordered Huevos Rancheros with Green Chili and it was outstanding. Our waiter made sure our drinks were always full. If I lived in the local area I would definitely eat here regularly I made sure I thanked the waiter for his excellent service, and as I stood in line to pay my bill one of the customers approached us and offered to pay our bill. I can't not tell you what this meant to me. There are truly good people in this world if you look for them. Friendly greeting, made excellent suggestions, great to get off I-25 for lunch. The veggie burrito (corn, hash browns, rice, zucchini, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese) was super fresh and delicious. The red and green chili super spicy for me but good flavor for sure. My husbands tacos we excellent as well. I would definitely go back. Order ahead if you want to pick up as they are busy. Food was good, but we were given out of towner treatment. Not sure if we did something to offend them or they don't like outsiders or they discriminate against Asians (parter + our kids), but they let us sit there for like an hour and only brought us 1 Pepsi. When I went to pay for just the can of Pepsi, our food magically appeared within seconds. Yum! Just what I want and expect in northern NM. Super hot chile, and delicious authentic food. I had chicharrones, which cannot be made to order because they take too long, and even at the end of their day, they were hot and crispy. Not chewy. Perfection! Eating their red chile made my head sweat and my nose run, and that's just how I like it. Green Chile was very tasty and flavorful, just not as hot as the red. Given that the restaurant is small, it's easy to get your servers attention if needed, but our server was very attentive. She was also friendly and joked with our kiddo. Okay, true story. We fell in love with Las Vegas NM months ago. After some bumps, fits and starts, we closed on a sweet house this morning. Wow! My husband's chicarrone burrito was amazing...he says he's in love. My burrito was equally delicious. We stopped on our travels from Raton to Santa Fe for breakfast, what a great experience. Service was great and good was "plate licking" good. I wound give zero star if I could, we sat there for more than 1 hour till the food came, and it came right after my husband went inside to just pay for the drink and ready to leave. The service is terrible, we have a toddler and baby, we are traveling and stopped in this town for lunch.Saw some good review about this place and decide to give it a try. But it's just a horrible experience. I guess we are not welcome here or something. They serve everybody else faster than us, people came after us gets their food ahead of us. They are apparently doing this on purposely to us. I'm Asian, my husband is Caucasian, don't know if that's the reason. I never get this type of service in America, so I don't know why this place gets high reviews, all I know is for some reason I'm not welcome in this restaurant. My aunt and two uncles live close to Las Vegas, so I got to pop in here when we visited them and took a small tour of the town/plaza. They love Olivia's, and we did, too! It was the perfect little meal, and they had the best pinto beans/posole. Their sopapillas were wonderful, too. I heard they have great pie -- but they were all out for the day when we were there.
