Favorite neighborhood restaurant! So convenient! Can call in my order and pick it up 15 minutes later. Everything is always so delicious.

We ordered 2 different meals and I took a pic of each.. honestly can't tell them apart.

El farolito was recommended to us by a friend who knew we were exploring the area. It's supposed to open around 1:30 but was around 2:30 when they finally opened the doors. We wouldn't have normally waited but there aren't other options in the area and we weren't in a hurry. We ordered the Chile rellenos and number 4 combo, both Christmas style. The plates consist of deep takeout dishes which wasn't a problem for us. The disappointment came when opening the containers to find our food was drowned in so much sauce and cheese that it was hard to make out what we were eating. I can see someone eating this high on weed or getting over a hangover but it's definitely not worth the drive out.

This is a tiny little hole in the wall. The food was amazing!!! Authentic Mexican food. The hamburger was perfect also!

We recently were traveling in northern NM on our way to Ojo Caliente and detoured to El Farolito on the recommendation of an acquaintance. It is definitely a destination place since it really is off the beaten path. The tiny town of El Rito really doesn't have much of anything unless you are one of the few locals. We almost missed the place driving through and realized and turned around. Overall I was most impressed with the salsa and chips, as other reviewers note it is home made and outstanding. We also order guacamole, tacos and a cheese enchilada. They were mediocre and served in takeout boxes even though we were dining in. The enchilada was in the bottom of a container of chile making it messy to eat. If you're in the area and need a snack, maybe give them a try. A family run place with a very rural village feel.

Front of restaurant with cool dudes approval.

Was just looking for a bite on the road headed north, didn't think much of it, but prices were surprisingly cheap. Quantity and quality wasn't anything less than amazing! Super sweet people and amazing service! A super cute place too, loved it all.

Most authentic New Mexican food I've ever had! They are located in the middle of small town, it's a quite way from anywhere. I guess you need to know this place exist to come here. Love the way they look from outside. It's like a little house. Driving here from Ojo Caliente was about 20-25 mins. Hardly any cell signal in between, my cell phone was useless finding this place. I mapped my route ahead of time, and memorized my way here to drive. Once I was in town I had spotty 3G signal for a quick Yelp check in. I wasn't hungry when I came but since I had to try their food, I ordered small green chili enchilada. Oh the green chili sauce had the best green chili flavor I ever tasted in my life. I always liked green chili but didn't realize it could be this good. No credit or debit cards accepted. Bring cash (price is very very reasonable anyway). I like their sign behind the cashier, "this is not a Burger King". Don't ask too much, just order and enjoy the food the way they serve you. Their food is so good, don't need to think anything. Just eat and enjoy!

El Farolito is a hole-in-the-wall type place in the smack middle of nowhere, New Mexico. Food is good, experience is amazing. The cook/owner is such a nice guy that accommodates hungry travelers, sometimes even out of regular hours. Check their Facebook for opening hours.

Finally we figured it had been put on the wrong side of the Main Street so we went the other way and ended up hungry and ready for a drink and dinner. The only negative is that I couldn't get a margarita other than the wine margaritas they have. Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. For dinner, we ordered the steak tampiquena and I would get it again. Savory, perfectly cooked and hearty. Check this place out if you are visiting!

Even though the restaurant was incredibly busy and our food took a while to arrive, Joseph handled the situation flawlessly. To make the wait easier, he kindly brought out complimentary chips and salsa, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an unexpected discount on our bill. Joseph is exceptionally pleasant, kind, and accommodating--he made us feel like absolute VIPs. They have a very nice outside patio with umbrellas and also an indoor dining area. The bathroom is inside the kitchen, so you will see them cooking if you have to go. Luckily we arrived before the place got completely packed. I ordered the chicken blue corn enchiladas with green chile and an over medium egg on top. This came with posole and beans on the side. All this for $16. The enchiladas were stacked and they were packed with chicken. A very nice bite to the chile and egg yolk completed the flavors. Posole and beans were hot and well seasoned. A filling and flavorful lunch. Well worth the stop. Just a note: they aren't opened on Sundays. Monday through Saturdays, lunch is served from 10:30 until 3 PM and supper from 5 to 9 PM. A Texan waiting for the bathroom told me he always orders exactly what I ordered. I would highly recommend it.
