We have property in East Texas and pass Los Pinos every time we got out there. We tried them a year or so ago and had a good experience, and last week on the way home we were hungry and decided to stop by again. Good choice! Although a sign in the entryway said they were hiring servers, it didn't appear to hurt the level of service. We got there close to midday and the dining room was full, so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, we were quickly given chips and salsa. The heat in the salsa was the perfect level for my taste, and the chips were nice and crispy. I'd passed by this restaurant many times on Friday nights when headed from DFW to Chandler. It was always packed. I had the opportunity to try it when on a girls trip to shop in Canton on First Monday. We had a group of 8. Order was completed accurately and very quick. Food was good and large portions. Positive: 1. The staff were very nice and friendly. 2. The Diet Coke was cold. 3. Prices are cheap. Negatives: 1. This place does not serve alcohol. If you want a margarita, go somewhere else. Actually, just go somewhere else! 2. Salsa tasted like Pace picante sauce. 3. Cheese enchilada was bland. 4. Beef fajitas were too tough to cut with butter knife and chicken fajitas were also over cooked and dry. 5. Refried beans a a large clump in them. Did not investigate We didn't eat the food we ordered. We paid, tipped the waitress (because it's not her fault the food is awful) and left. Then we went elsewhere for real dinner. read more

Definitely a local hidden gem. The waitress was very nice, attentive, and answered all our questions. The food was very affordable, and delicious and we left very full. As someone else on here mentioned the salsa is very good. We also tried the queso which we liked. My fiance had the Ben Wheeler with one taco, enchillada, and tamale. He said his sweet tea was some of the best he's had. I tried the tamale and it was very good. I had a two enchillada plate. Then I ended my meal with a beautiful puffy sopapilla dusted in sugar and cinnamon and served with butter and honey. It was perfect. I did take pictures of the full menu so we could call in dinner in the future since I pass by here on the way home from work. What we are absolutely addicted to is the homemade hot salsa. I stopped here on my way to Canton at the suggestion of a friend. Daily specials are available plus a full menu. I chose the beef enchiladas. It was a solid choice. The restaurant holds about 50 people. They had an excellent lunch crowd. The restrooms were clean as well as the rest of the facility. My meal was less than $10. Can't wait to visit again. read more

We visited this restaurant based on other Yelp reviews. The restaurant was clean, well lit, and the wait staff extremely. The only reasons for not giving them a 5 star rating is because this visit was our first and so I've only tried one thing on the menu. I ordered a combo plate. Every thing was good. This small town mexican restaurant is a gem! Good good and excellent service. No frills just good food.

It would be easy to overlook this East Texas gem - the outside is not very inviting and I can see how many people might have second thoughts before giving it a try. Once through the front door you'll be greeted by the sweetest ladies (maybe you'll get Stef). The inside is also not fancy though the murals on the walls are nice. But the important thing is the food - and boy is the food here delicious. There is an extensive menu with everything from tacos to tamales to enchiladas and fajitas. The chips and salsa are wonderful and they ladies keep the basket and your bowl filled. The refried beans have a hit of smokiness, as though were cooked for a while on an open fire. Yum yum yum The taco meat is easily the best I've ever eaten, from California to Louisiana. Enchiladas are great, tamales are great. Ninety-nine percent of the time the fajitas are great - that other one percent they might be just a little tough, but I've found that everywhere. My only 'complaint' is that there aren't complimentary corn and flour tortillas served. We eat here once a week at least (we live in Canton, so nearby) and our meal is regularly about $15 -$17 for two adults. Portions are generous so I often leave with a carry out container. If you visit FIrst Monday, make the trip toward Ben Wheeler down Hwy 64 toward Tyler, and enjoy this great Mexican restaurant. read more

Looks like a dive. Inside and out. That being said, the waitresses are always friendly and fast. The food is our favorite Mexican food in Van Zandt County. Prices are way affordable.
