Open during COVID. They have free Jesus lawn crosses out front, which I have *never* seen in 40 years in California. Very affordable lunch specials and daily specials M-F. Servers have all been friendly. They don't take Apple Pay. No biggie. Their menu is extensive; I think the fajitas have been the best thing I've had their, but I haven't tried their soups or desserts yet. But really, this is a 5-star review for their salsa. Dining in, you always get chips and salsa. And they're happy to refill the salsa. I don't know why, but their salsa is the best I've ever had. I think people's salsa preferences must vary a lot, why else are salsas so different everywhere? But this one just sparks too much joy. No other rating would suffice. It's a red salsa, FYI. Also, there are several Tele's "family" restaurants in the area. I asked about this one in Van, and it has the same menu but is actually owned and run separately (i.e., a different family). The place looks like it's been up for a while you can definitely see that. They had no type of music playing it was very awkwardly quiet and this was around 2pm it was very lonely. The water was trash tasted horrible! My friends sweet tea was bad as well, we had to get a bottled drinks instead. My plate of enchiladas was okay the rice tasted old and the beans were okay not bad the enchiladas were okay had a little bit of flavor tasted like a good Tv dinner. Needed a quick dinner, and we were feeling something spicy, so we decided on Teles Mexican. We looked online at the menu, and called in our order. We were told 20 minutes, and then we headed to pick it up. When we got home, I was very happy to see they included chips and salsa with our order! The chips had a great flavor and were very crisp. The salsa tasted very fresh, and flavorful. I ordered the bean and cheese burrito dinner meal smothered in spicy queso for myself, and it was really good! I hadn't eaten all day, and this filled me right up! It was pretty spicy (just the way I like it!) but others may not, so be cautious when ordering! My grandma didn't like the salsa because it was too spicy, but I didn't get any sort of spice from it, but she does have a sensitive palette. Be mindful of what you order, just in case! Employees are very friendly. I can't speak for dine-in because we brought it home, but I hope to have another chance to try it out before I leave Texas! I would definitely eat here again! read more

Traveling back to Houston we hopped off i20. Checked Google reviews, had 4.3 stars out of 97 reviews. Seemed good enough. Service was extremely slow. Took awhile to get our drinks. Water, coke, coke zero. Nothing fancy. Took forever to get our food. Chips and salsa were good. White and yellow queso was terrible. Tasted like from a can. Super bland. Almost gritty. I ordered the ribeye asada. When you think of ribeye you think of ribeye steak. It was like a pressed cube steak almost. It tasted good but I was just like uhhh this is a rib eye? Not worth $15.49 in my opinion. My friend ordered the special which was the tex mex enchiladas I believe. She didn't get that. Was some sort of fajitas. Again it tasted ok but not what she wanted. They offered to remake it but considering how long it took to get food we just said Nevermind and I shared mine with her. We probably won't ever be in that area again to eat there but it was just terrible. Wouldn't return. read more

I'm giving them a three because their food is okay but nothing on the menu is great. The service is good. This place isn't authentic Mexican food, it is Tex-Mex. There's nothing wrong with Tex-Mex food but don't call it Authentic Mexican food when it isn't. Real Mexican enchiladas aren't topped with melted cheese. Their tostadas are store bought thin crispy tortillas/tostadas that break easily. Their complimentary salsa and chips are a plus if you like canned tomato salsa. It's definitely not authentic either. The one thing I do like best is their hotter tomatillo salsa (not on the menu and will only be brought out upon request) but I can't say I crave anything on their menu. Every time I've eaten at this place it has been upon friend's requests not because I choose it. If you'd like some authentic Mexican food in Van go to Coupes Cafe and order their gorditas, breakfast tacos (made with homemade flour tortillas) and lunch tacos (made with homemade corn tortillas) and their green salsa is great! read more

Teles is a great Tex-Mex restaurant! Better than most places in Tyler to be honest. It's low key and quiet which is a win-win in my book. The only thing I've had I didn't enjoy were the spinach enchiladas (a long time ago). The spinach seemed like it came from a can which is obviously disappointing. Stopped in for lunch today and it was delicious! A fun hole in the wall with deliciously crispy chips and savory salsa. The white queso was perfectly smooth with some green chilis. The tacos were crispy amd full of meat and veggies. The enchiladas were fresh and full with perfectly cooked rice and beans. We will definitely be back next time we are passing thru!!! read more

This was a great discovery! Living is SE Louisiana where good TexMex is impossible to find, Teles will make trips to North Central Texas much better. We can get a little taste of home along the way. Great place for a family meal. There are 9 of us that go to dinner 5-6 nights a week and Teles has very quick service, we can get in and out in well under an hour... probably close to 30 minutes if my 5 yr old wasn't the slowest eater ever. read more
