Absolutely delicious restaurant! The menu is full of all the typical options from tacos, burritos and rice based dishes. They also serve a variety of platters. I ended up getting their Chile Verde which is pork chunks topped with salsa Verde. At other restaurants, the pork is often tough or can be inconsistent in tenderness. But not here the pork was juicy and tender through and through. The rice and beans served with it were great compliments. I had a pina colada daquiri and joked about how large of a size the regular was! It was huge and I was so curious about the large size. Pro-tip, you will probably want the large size it was just that good! Our server was kind and the food came out quite quickly! They have a large parking lot and an ample sized seating area inside. It does have a separate entrance and exit though which I haven't experienced at a restaurant before so just keep that in mind once you are ready to leave. Overall, this is a great Mexican restaurant in Tappahanock. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu but I'd definitely reccomend their pork dishes. The food was great and the portions are large. I had to take half my dinner home and it was just as delicious warmed up! The service was incredible, from the time we were seated, to requesting a to-go box. It's a rather spacious venue and quite clean. We will definitely return. read more

It's fine. I'm from an area where we have an abundance of good Mexican food restaurants so I forget that I'm further away from Mexico now so the choices are what they are. I've been to this location a few times. Service varied WILDLY between times. This inconsistency makes it hard to figure out a review. Food is better than fine but can take awhile or come out quick. Modifications to items (like no sauce due to allergy concerns) are hit or miss whether they understand what you're asking. The interior is an odd combination of a former fast food layout mixed with a sit down restaurant. Last time we were in (over the holidays) they were understaffed in the front of house and the poor server was trying her best but spread too thin with either too large of a section or too many tables for her. A wait list would've have helped her get ahead but it seemed like they just kept sitting her tables. We may be back but with a nearby restaurant recently opening, we may not come back here. I have been going to this location for years!! I remember when they first opened, and I was so excited. This is a small town so when you visit and something new is added into the mix you are eager to see how it is. They have done several renovations over the years and it was all for the better. Pre-covid the employees knew my family and I by face, and were always so thankful to have us back. Always smiling and very friendly. They use to come to the table and actually carry a conversation about what is happening in their lives. It was very nice! They used to have someone come over to each table when you sat down and would ask if you wanted fresh guacamole. I use to love asking for extra cilantro please!!! When I first started coming I use to always order the enchiladas supreme and my brother and father would also order the same thing. (The waiters/waitresses started remembering our orders lol) After changing my eating lifestyle I started trying their seafood options and Came across the Camerones Cancun!!! When I say delicious it's so good! They do put cheese over it but you can have that changed to something else instead. The sides were beans and rice and I learned you can swap the refried beans for black beans so that was what I started doing. I have had their fried ice cream before and the time I tried it I really enjoyed the crispy ratio of it all. I have order a margarita from here and that was delicious too! During Covid, their measures have changed. When you come in they have hand sanitizer waiting for you and the booths are marked off with caution tape. Every other booth is one that can be occupied. While I was there during Covid they did split a group up since there was too many people per regulations. All employees had mask on and were very kind. They do have you look off a menu that is taped to the table window when trying to order. They do have a bad out menu if needed but they prefer using the With or without Covid you should check this place out safely! read more

Food - I had the street tacos with steak and flour tortillas. The tomatillo salsa was VERY tangy. I couldn't eat it. The red salsa that came with the chips was much better. The tacos were delicious. They were crispy on the outside and seasoned well. The black beans were terrible - not seasoned and bland. The side of guacamole was ok - nothing special but not terrible. Overall I would give the food a 3-3.5 out of 5. Service - the service was good. Nothing bad but also nothing above and beyond. The server forgot my side of guacamole but brought it out promptly. No big deal. Overall I would give it a 3 out of 5. Cleanliness - this is where they fell short. The booth seats were dirty and the table was very sticky. The restaurant overall looked clean but they need to do a better job cleaning booths and tables. Next time I would sit at the bar or just get takeout. I would give cleanliness a 2.5-3 out of 5. My parents and I ate dinner here when we needed to go to Walmart. My mom and I shared the dinner chicken fajitas and they were delicious! My dad enjoyed his as well, some sort of seafood fajitas. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff was friendly. Our server was kind and efficient, and answered every question we had about the menu, was quick to refill our drinks, and take our order. Always good food, the staff is really nice and the prices are very reasonable. It's got nice decor, and they always have Mexican music playing, but it's not too obnoxious. The reason for the three stars is from last Tuesday, we went for tacos, and there was an older gentleman with a guitar, going from table to table while performing. I don't know if he was expecting tips, but it felt very uncomfortable, and I did my best not to make eye contact. I like live entertainment, just not at my table. This review is based on four visits, all for lunch. I have always ordered the same dish, because after my first time I've been unable to pass up the delicious chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce made with corn tortillas; they come with rice and beans. The white meat chicken is juicy and lean, the green sauce is deliciously tangy, and the melted cheese on top brings everything together. I try to go on Wednesdays, as that is half-price margarita day: they are generous with their pours and the half-price special is honored even during lunch. Hello! I've been reading these reviews and I know most of the people who've ordered these and wanna know why they're dissatisfied l, they don't know how to order. People try blaming it on how the food is made and unseasoned but they expect it to be how they want. This is a restaurant which is food made by us and if you don't like the cheese dip because it's "cheesy" don't order it. People don't know what they're ordering and expect us to get on their knees. Please be more considerate of this restaurant people! It's the best ever and the staff is amazing but the people are so needy and expect everything to be perfect. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted and sat pretty quickly by a very nice server. The chips are warm, which I love, and plenty of salsa to share. I ordered the lunch Crazy burrito (chicken) and it was delicious. Hubby ordered the deluxe burrito (dinner size)and loved it. Both burritos were loaded with chicken. My chicken was grilled like fajita chicken and his was huge chunks of shredded chicken. Lunch was 26.00 and we were full (left a few bites behind). tasteless and cold. how does this place stay in business. Awful food and They didn't seem to care. They gave me a to-go box. I sat there with food in box as everyone else ate. I didn't want to ruin the moment by complaining more than I did. The food is so bland and not hot. The beans tasted funny an orangey color for refried beans. I was first served beans and waited sometime before the cool entree and they forgot the tortillas not even asking me whether flour or corn with the cool fajitas. Tappahannock doesn't have much going on from what I saw but this place is worth stopping in if you're in the area or driving through. The food was really good, the service was great, and I couldn't ask for better portions. Staff were all super nice but the food was so gross. Watery cheese, chips tasted weird, beef placed in tacos and burritos reminded me of dog food. 1st this is one clean Mexican Restaurant! The waitress was great ! We ordered California Burrito and let me say it has crispy bacon in it... and was delicious... I got the carnitas (now I'm a carnitas snob) they were delicious! My grandson and son in law got tacos.. the we're very good plenty of cheese and the lettuce on the tacos and the rest of our plates was fresh and GREEN ! Food: Chips and dip came quite a while prior to my drink was even ordered. Chips/dip were very good though. Beer was nice and cold. Main entree ordered was Enchiladas Verdes. Came out very quickly. It was alright. Not great. Not too much flavor but not horrible. For $13 for a beer and dinner I was satisfied. Advice: not really a hang at the bar and drink place due to no definitive bartenders. I don't understand how this place gets as busy as it does. The food has zero flavor, like none whatsoever. I'm not even talking heat, which would be great, but there is no discernible use of basic herbs and spices like cumin, paprika, chili powder, Mexican oregano, achiote, or cilantro. No hint of onion or garlic. Even some salt would be an improvement. My husband and I were given tepid water in greasy plastic cups. The chips were stale and bland and the salsa was tasteless red water. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, and the server brought out a dry, unseasoned chicken breast sprinkled with a few shreds of cheese, wrapped in a cold tortilla. I don't like a ton of cheese on my food, so I figured a quesadilla would be a gamble; it certainly was, but not in the way I expected. I opened my quesadilla to inspect it after the first terrible bite and had to look closely to even see the cheese. I took another bite. You ever eat something so dry, it sucks all the moisture from your mouth? This was like a Popeye's biscuit combined with a sponge. I added salsa, hoping it would boost flavor and lube up my meal, but it did nothing aside from make my tortilla soggy and sadder somehow. We abandoned our efforts to choke down our meals, paid, and left. We found a Latin American place up the road that has delicious food, so that's where we go now. read more

The food has always been very good and the service is great. I have yet to have a bad meal here. I'm always trying something different. We've seen this place a couple times driving by and decided to stop for lunch today. It was a good sign that there was a 20 minute wait and the host was very friendly. Once we got to the table, the chips were still warm and the salsa was pretty tasty. We ordered the Enchiladas Tricolor and the Enchiladas Verdes (see pics). Both were great, although my wife and I liked the Tricolor just a little bit more! All in all, a tasty and reasonable option for Mexican food!! Recommended! read more

When we arrived a table was set up for us and then the man said "your table is over there" and motioned toward the table instead of leading us there. This was 5:30 on a Monday and they were not busy. Our drink order was taken fast and received fast. But, the basket of chips, while hot, were practically crumbles. Certainly made it hard to scoop salsa. The salsa was almost tasteless but the chips were good. Our order was taken and the food came out quickly. Although the kids cheeseburger took an extra 5-6 minutes to arrive for some reason. Most of the food was barely warm, which didn't make much sense. The overall taste of the food from our party of 8 was a 3 out of 10. Probably the worst chimichanga I've ever had. My wife ordered a taco chicken salad and got beef that was soupy and bland. I ordered chimichanga and got two very place chicken tacos wrapped in a flour wrap, nothing fried!! They were very plain and not good at all. The chips were not good nor the salsa. Absolutely worst restaurant I have every eaten in especially Mexican. Who would have known. I have never had bad Mexican until now. The waitress never came back to the table. No water refills and we actually had to get up and walk to the cash register to pay for our meal. She never brought a bill. I wish we had just gone through one of the fast food restaurant lines. I'd never recommend this place to my worst enemy!!
