Had an amazing time at the Old Rapp Taphouse. The restaurant itself is stunning with a variety of seating and fun twinkle lights strung on the ceiling. Midway through our dinner the main lights dimmed a bit which made the string lights look like stars making for a very romantic atmosphere. They do offer outdoor seating as well but we opted to stay inside, however we saw a fire pit and corn hole which could make for a fun outdoor evening. The food was amazing and came out extremely quickly. I think we waited less than 10 minutes which surprised me. I ended up getting the soft shell crab special which came with 3 small soft shell crabs and two sides. The Caesar salad was well dressed but was missing the salty umami flavor I come to expect with Caesar it almost tasted a bit bland but the romaine used was fresh and I appreciated the crunch/green it offered my meal, I don't think I'd recommend it being worth the upcharge and will probably try another side when returning. The fries are handcut and delicious, they also have old bay along with the typical salt & pepper on the table which when sprinkled on to the fries definitely take it up a notch. My crabs were phenomenal, perfectly fried and the butter sauce they provided with it was a delicious addition for dipping. My partner got a pulled pork sandwich and he shared that it was very good. It had a nice vinegar kick expected from Carolina BBQ. Our server Zachary was also extremely attentive and made sure we had our meals, waters were topped off and gave us any and all accoutrements we could need when asked. Overall, we had a great experience at Old Rapp Taphouse, we went on a Saturday night and found there to be a steady stream of people coming in and out but still received such great service and food. First time trying here, and almost decided not to after reading the recent reviews. However, our service was okay, but the food was great! We got the pulled pork tacos and chicken parm. Let me tell you! This food was worth it. Servers were a little slow and busy on their phone, but that's typical nowadays. read more

First time coming here. Tried the crab soup it was great! The street corn dip tastes nothing like an actual street corn, but it was good! Chips and salsa were good, and my food which was the country fried chicken was great. Just a little salty. Also, my babies chicken tenders were raw very raw, and when we told our waiter Bailey about it, she seemed annoyed and said it wasn't her fault that it was the kitchens, which she just shouldn't have said anything and just taken the food back and gotten it fixed. Overall, this place needs improvement in customer service, more attentive waiters. If they fix that I'd love to come back again. Ambiance is loud so if you're ok with noise, you'll be fine. read more

We decided to split the special brisket sub after waiting an hour after our quoted 35 minute wait. Our brisket sub was absolutely atrocious would not of even brought it out just by looking at it. It was dry and the bread looked and tasted like it never made it to the oven. The fries and drinks saved this place but wouldn't recommend. We also did not receive any silverware throughout the entire meal. read more

Food is good.... nice variety of beers.... BUT..... apparently 80% of the people walked in with NO MASKS... And staff DOESN'T care.... People walk all over this place With NO social distancing... NO MASKS... A group of 11 came in... Through the front door... 2 had masks... NO ONE ELSE DID... the hostess walked them through the bar area... past every table... as the yelled hi to all the patrons. No one cared... Hit and Miss dining experience. Server had no knowledge about liquor brands available and no clue how to take a simple martini order. THE Manager can make tiny lists of brand names of catagories of liquors, wines, beers for quick tableside eeference for your servers. RIGHT!? That way they can learn to upsell and restaurant makes more money and partons don't wait for the server to yo-yo back n forth for the information. RIGHT! Jeez. Then, she charged me a double, $21.00, for 1 top shelf martini, when ALL OTHRR RESTAURANTS CHARGE $11.00 OR $12.00 for the exact same pour of that brand, Who would order a $21.00 martini... it had better do my damned taxes for that price! Great selection of beer and the food was awesome. The wife and I enjoyed a couple beers. I had the steak tacos and fried banana peppers....wow, steak was tender, not over cooked, just the right amount of cheese and horsy sauce. The fried banana peppers were a first for us. Lightly fried...delicious. Wife said the chicken sliders were great and the baked brie finished it all off. Had a long day of work and didn't get done until 7. Checked the website and it says 3-10 open. Got there at 8:45 to be told the kitchen is closed. I get the Northern Neck but come on guys. Went there last night for dinner and will definitely be back! For an appetizer, we ordered the crab dip with pork rinds and tortilla chips which was really good! My dad and I each ordered the steak and cheese tacos which were awesome, we will definitely order those again. Husband ordered the burger, he said it was great, loaded toppings, solid burger. My tacos (the tortillas) were cold: When I mentioned this to the server she responded that they'd just come out of the freezer. Ah, yeah, so heat them!! Visited here twice now. The atmosphere is good the service is good but the food not so much. Ordered catfish today. Was mushy and tasted odd. Tried sushi with tempura shrimp and the shrimp tasted just like old fish. Disgusting. Might give this place one more time chance but so far it's not for me. read more

Warsaw residents and visitors - I came to visit my mother from Richmond, VA, and was told to try Old Rapp Taphouse - I ordered a Caesar Salad and Crab Dip togo which when going home, the crab dip tasted sour of some sort. I even had my grandmother try it, and she also noted it was "bad." I gave a friendly phone call to the restaurant and asked for the manager, which she (Kay Campbell) was cooking in the kitchen and would give me a call back. When speaking with Kay, she was absolutely rude with her tone stating that the crab dip was not sour and it was parmesan cheese. She stated that she usually does not make the crap dip togo, and that I should have "broiled" it upon going home. One, I've never heard of that in my entire life with a togo restaurant crab dip - and if that was the case, why not give the customer that heads up? I asked if she was the owner, and she said that she was not, that Andy Biel in Newport News was the owner - I asked if she could give me his contact info and she stated rudely that I could "look it up" because she did not have time to get that information for me. I shared with Kay that I did not appreciate her tone, and she continued to be disrespectful stating that she would give me my money back. Any place of business who treats their customers like that is NOT a place that should have someone like Kay, leading the company. Andy, if you read this message, I would love to chat with you. I loved this place when I went when it first opened. The burger was the best I have had, and the fries were amazing. Went yesterday, the burger did not taste like the mixed meat burger advertised; tasted like market hamburger. The fries were undercooked. The waitress Was efficient, but a little grumpy and not engaging. I had a diet coke, which was like colored seltzer water. The mexican corn street dip was bland compared to the first visit. I will come back to this place, but hope its like the first visit!!! read more

Fun, lively sports bar with surprisingly good food. We've been four times and enjoyed the nightly specials (lamb chops, prime rib tacos) as well as the regular menu (wings, burgers, spiced shrimp). I have heard all the rumors about how good this new place was. Had to try it and honestly was disappointed. The crab cakes were good but the ribs very smoky and tough. The employees masks were worn incorrectly, under their nose. Also customers were coming in side door with no masks at all. I didn't see any discipline regarding this. It took 20 minutes for a waitress to come to our table and another half hour for our food. I will not be returning. read more

Have eaten here three times. All visits were very good. Nice variety on the draft beer list. The ribs were perfect, tender - but with a nice "chew." The crab cake sandwich was above average. And the fried oysters were perfect - lightly breaded but with a nice crunch and perfectly seasoned. The sides are also excellent - with the fries being some of the best I've had. My husband and I visited the taphouse for dinner last night 8/12. This was our second time there. The first time the food and drinks were great! However last night I wish I could say the same! Our drinks were still great but the food not so much. The wings to start off with were so salty that we had to drink and a glass of water and get them down. I ordered the special for the evening which was blackened mahi served over cheesy grits. My husband ordered the black bean spicy cakes. The mahi was burnt and over cooked in the grits were so dry and crumble that they fell apart. My husbands spicy black bean cakes were so chard and black you could smell the char! Needless to say the waitress recognized how awful they was and took them off of our bill. We might give them another chance but as we left last night we were not a fan of the Old Rapp house.
