    Crab Cake Supreme
    Gerry B.

The name of the restaurant was intriguing. We rolled up and got a great table inside. The servers were very friendly. I had the Crab Cake Supreme (a grilled crab cake, grilled shrimp, melted provolone cheese, and smothered in crab bisque all laying on a slice of buttered toast). It was quite delicious. For appetizers we had hush puppies and coconut shrimp. The hush puppies were flavorful and had pieces of corn in them. The coconut shrimp looked like it was air fried and covered in a thick batter.

Great place to stop in Tappahannock for an above average lunch. The catfish was as good as anywhere, with a nicely seasoned batter fried filet. The oysters were sweet and local. The crabcake was made with less than top quality crab but was okay to good, per my wife. Service was attentive. Very tempting old-style dessert tower / carousel tucked in the back of the dining room. Maybe next time.

The fried oysters were so tender and soft. Definitely will be ordering them again. The BUTTER BEANS- were the best I have ever had. The coleslaw was also delicious. The fries were delicious. We got my father in law the Philly cheese steak to go and he said it was a 10/10 and my son the bacon cheeseburger, he said it was delicious. Now to the crab cakes- I have never had grilled but it was the best ever. I got fried because I didn't know how amazing the grilled one would be. I don't think I'll ever eat another fried crab cake, from here on out it'll be grilled only.

I have driven by this little café 100 times on the way to our place on the river, but I am always with my dogs that don't handle being left in the car so well. Today I had the opportunity to run some errands without the dogs and decided to stop by this little café. It is a small place right on the main highway with an extraordinarily friendly and attentive staff. I got there about 1 o'clock in the afternoon so the lunch rush had just settle down. I was immediately seated and my order was taken. I decided to try the crab bisque and the grilled crabcake sandwich. The bisque was OK, could've used a little more flavor, it was definitely made with real crab. The crabcake sandwich was just fine with a little bit of tartar sauce and hot sauce as well. Prices were reasonable and comparable to the same type of meal at other places. I've had better food, but I have also had worse! I love little small family owned diners and always work to support them. There are a couple others in the stretch of highway that I need to check out, but I am sure that I will be back to the To Do Cafe!

Honestly? I think it's trying to be like the Java Jacks of seafood, but it just ain't that place. Everything's ok though.

We had a party of 10, and they were incredibly quick to accommodate us. From the start, the service stood out. Our server worked hard throughout the evening to ensure everything was smooth and that we had an excellent dining experience. The food was fantastic. A few of us ordered the 40 oz. Tomahawk steak with shrimp and two sides, and it was easily one of the best steaks I've had. While $120 is definitely an investment, it was well worth it, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The sauce on the side complemented it nicely, the sides were delicious, and the presentation really elevated the entire dish. It's also large enough to easily feed two people. Others at the table enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the surf and turf special (ribeye and shrimp for $40), a fish sandwich, and a ribeye steak and cheese. Everything that came out looked and tasted great. They also brought out complimentary bread with a homemade dipping sauce, which was a nice touch. You can tell they take pride in their food--we got the sense that much of it is made in-house. We also tried a few desserts, and they did not disappoint. The carrot cake, in particular, was one of the best I've had. Inside the restaurant was large and looked like they could host banquet and parties. We even had the opportunity to meet and talk with the owner, Tony, and were impressed by his background and passion for what he does. Overall, we had a great experience, and most importantly, our nephew had a wonderful birthday celebration. We will definitely be stopping back in the next time we're in the area.

I ended up getting their Chile Verde which is pork chunks topped with salsa Verde. At other restaurants, the pork is often tough or can be inconsistent in tenderness. But not here the pork was juicy and tender through and through. The rice and beans served with it were great compliments. I had a pina colada daquiri and joked about how large of a size the regular was! It was huge and I was so curious about the large size. Pro-tip, you will probably want the large size it was just that good! Our server was kind and the food came out quite quickly! They have a large parking lot and an ample sized seating area inside. It does have a separate entrance and exit though which I haven't experienced at a restaurant before so just keep that in mind once you are ready to leave. Overall, this is a great Mexican restaurant in Tappahanock. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu but I'd definitely reccomend their pork dishes. Whether you sit at the bar, their high tops or a booth the food doesn't disappoint.

There is ample parking available, and despite being located right off the golf course, the restaurant is pretty easy to access. Walking in, you're able to seat yourself with a variety of options (low top, high top, and bar seating available). Our server was prompt and kind, the menu was quite expansive, and there were multiple options to please anyone in a large group. I ended up getting the corn beef hash platter, which came on a sizzling pan topped with a heaping portion of fried potatoes and corn beef and topped with eggs cooked to your preference. It also comes with a side of bread, I decided on a biscuit which was fantastic, buttery and fluffy. My breakfast partner ended up ordering off the lunch menu, getting a tuna sandwich, which also came with a heaping portion of tuna salad between two slices of buttered bread. They shared that it was a decent sandwich but not as good as other places.
