Perhaps it's because I came late but I didn't like this place. I came around 11pm and I can tell they were trying to close so they took my order anyway. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't let me sit where I wanted, even in a 4 seat table when there was only two other people in the restaurant. Well I should have listened bc when I sat by the door I could smell the cigarette smoke from outside coming in. This was my first Paella experience in Spain, but the rice seemed overlooked and the sauce gummy. One of The guys (waiter in black shirt) really tried to be accommodating even when I told the I didn't like the food even offered to fix something else; this is why I'm giving 3 stars. However the manager dude (in color shirt) seemed to be irritated when I told him I didn't like the food. read more

One of the better paellas I've had in Barcelona. The two of us walked in for dinner at around 8pm and were seated immediately. There was a huge group dinner next to us (~20 ppl?), which leads me to believe that they can accommodate large parties if you reserve ahead of time. Tucked in an alleyway off of La Rambla, Los Toreros has a good mix of locals and tourists. The food and service were excellent. The guys running the floor were so efficient and attentive. Loved the traditional decor with cozy lighting. We ordered a few seafood tapas and the mixed seafood paella, accompanied by a bottle of wine. You can't go wrong with this combination. Probably our most simple, yet memorable meal in Barcelona. Our paella came with HUGE shrimps and a decent amount of other seafoods. My other favorite dish was the grilled cuttlefish. Great place, literally less than 50m from the dreadful Ramblas, somewhat hidden in a small alley. The food was excellent, especially considering the price. We ordered the tapas tasting menu of €23,50 each and added a couple extra tapas afterwards. With 4 people we paid ~€150 including non stop sangria next to it. We did find that the extras were even better than the tasting menu items. Especially the bloodsausage is AWESOME! And it's a pity the pimientes de padron are not already in the tasting menu since it's such a classic over here. First restaurant we are in Barcelona - both the food and service were superb! We did order too much food - the tapas portions were very generous. Ambiance was nice, stone walls and wrought iron chandeliers...jeans were acceptable. First, they had menus in both English and Spanish, which was very helpful. They have prix fixe tapas menus which offer a variety of tapas to try, but since my daughter doesn't eat pork we decided to order our own. Our favorites were the spinach-walnut-pinchot croquettes, tuna carpaccio with wasabi ice cream, and fried brie with truffle honey. The grilled prawns and tomato bread were quite good too...probably the only thing we didn't love was the fried calamari, but mainly because it didn't come with a dipping sauce. We went here because it was recommended for paella so that was what we ordered. Two of us shared one. It looked so good, but we were a little disappointed. If you have ever had a pot pie from KFC, you know what this tasted like. The flavor just wasn't anything special. The reason for the 4 stars though? The location was convenient, the restaurant was super cute and the sangria was out of this world! Being that we were in Spain, I had sangria at every dinner. I came here for paella and my wishes were beyond granted. My friend and I split the seafood, vegetable and chicken paella and it was enough food for four people at least (we ended up taking home leftovers). It was so tasty and got better the more we ate it! Scallops, mussels and prawns with the heads still on made for an excellent (if slightly intimidating) seafood medley. The chicken was ok but not great, but the flavors of the paella itself, the seafood and the grilled peppers more than made up for the chicken. The bill was €12,50 a person, not bad at all! read more

We were in Barcelona for only one night, Sunday, and this was one of only a few of the best tapas restaurants open. (Most restaurants of note in Barcelona are closed on Sunday, and/or, Monday.) Didn't have to wait for a table, but, once we were seated, the service team took a while to get going. Once we had all our dishes ordered, cheap vino poured, and when the tapas arrived, all was well. Depending on seasonality/availability, I recommend ordering their excellent razor clams; stuffed peppers were also very good. This is one of those great everyday places, filled with a good mix of tourists and locals alike. Nice vibe. read more

"This is the best thing we've eaten on this trip." I think my husband and I have said this to each other over just about every meal in Barcelona. Los Toreros is no exception to this statement. It was the first formal tapas restaurant we ate in, and it was one of the best. As others have mentioned, the plates are gigantic (it shouldn't be called tapas but gigantapas). We really over-ordered. Don't come here hungry or you will be sad that you can't fit everything you ordered into your stomach. The food is brought out quickly and each bite is heaven. Our favorites were the small fried fish, the tasty mussels, and the rich jamon. Service was attentive and friendly. And the ambience can't be beat. The restaurant is tucked away off a side street, past a little square, and is also referred to as a museum (by the owners) who tout its bullfighting memorabilia and history in the community. The bathrooms are very clean. There was enough space to handle small and large groups alike. And even though it's been around for awhile, they are hip to the times: the wifi password is printed on their placemats. What's not to love about this place?! read more

Oh my gosh... the seafood paella. i'm tempted to buy another $1,500 plane ticket to Barcelona just so i can eat it again. I stayed in Barcelona for a month and had a lot of paella and decided to try this place as a recommendation from a friend and it was by far thee BEST place for seafood paella. Our waiter was super funny and friendly and didn't treat us like dumb tourists for ordering paella for dinner (you're supposed to eat it for lunch). The seafood was plentiful and the rice was perfect. It's right off La Rambla but hidden enough in the alleys that it doesn't make it very touristy. While looking up places that serve good paella, I stumbled upon Los Toreros. It was our first night in Barcelona, and I wanted my sister to experience tapas and paella. This place did not disappoint! Tani was a wonderful server. He was kind enough to give us the English menu. We ordered the spinach croquettes, the papas bravas, the seafood paella, and a liter of sangria. My sister got a beer. Everything was well-seasoned and delicious. Grading Criteria (one star each) 1.Service- Tani was so kind. He spoke clear English as well as Spanish. He even taught us how to say "for to go" properly. 2. Atmosphere- "Los Toreros" means the bullfighters in Spanish, and the entire restaurant was decked out. There was a bull's head mounted on the wall and lots of bullfighting memorabilia. The establishment was very clean and bright. They played covers of popular songs both in English and Spanish, and overall a fun time. We went at about 9pm, and there were only a couple of people there. The vibe was nice, though. 3. Flavor- Everything tasted great! Try the seafood paella. Be warned: big portions for the paella. We had three people for one order for three and we took away enough to feed a fourth. 4.Price- Everything came to about €32. A pretty good price for sangria, tapas and paella. 5.X-factor- As this was my first night in Barcelona, we were all happy to start this leg of our trip on a great note. I would give it negative stars if possible. Agreeing with another yelper below, the worst food we had in Barcelona. We saw all the Yelp reviews for seafood paella and were specifically coming here for that, and we walked to the restaurant all the way from La Sagrada Familia. We were seated quickly, and our first waiter automatically announced he didn't speak English and left. No one else came to help our table for at least ten minutes. Finally another waiter begrudgingly came over and took our order. We wanted to split the paella between the four of us and he announces the kitchen has run out of paella for the rest of the night. Sorry, what?! How is that possible? We all grumpily return to our menus and pick other things we didn't really want. What we should have done is gotten up and left. After we are brought our food, nothing is remarkable, noteworthy, or decent, two other tables of people are sat in front and behind us. Both are speaking Spanish, and both order paella. Within the next twenty minutes they are both brought large servings of paella. I flagged down the waiter, extremely pissed off, and ask why they are being served paella when we weren't able to order it. He says they called on the phone and ordered it before they got here and they saved it for them. Really.... both separate parties ordered paella and you saved it for them? Yeah... okay. We ended up chatting with the table behind us when they heard we didn't get paella. They admitted they hadn't called ahead and had no idea why they wouldn't serve us the dish. They were even nice enough to put some on a plate and let us all try a little. Thanks, guys! It was good, but not good enough to even give this place even one star. Our waiter came over and brought us each a slice of honeydew to make up for the "mixup". Keep your stupid honeydew and learn some professionalism and manners. I don't know if they wouldn't serve us because we didn't speak Spanish, if we were Americans, or what, but here's a newsflash. In America it's customary to tip well because servers rely on those tips. Most Americans are accustomed to this and tip well all over the world, and our server would have been very happy at the end of the meal if he didn't treat us like dirt beneath his shoes. read more

I ordered the Potatoes Bravas and my husband ordered the spinach, walnut and pine nut fritter. Both were fabulous. For our entrees my husband ordered the grilled meat platter and I had the vegetable and chicken paella. The meat platter came with an immense amount of perfectly prepared meat. The paella was very flavorful and filled with a variety of tasty vegetable. We finished our meal with the Creme de Catalonia, and although when I saw it, I didn't think I would eat the whole thing...I did! Two standouts were the roasted pimientos (roasted peppers with a generous sprinkle of huge salt crystals) and the lomo a la gallega (pork loin in Galician style). Ate here with my wife one night and also another place under the same ownership called Gats. Both are very very good. Gats has an amazing vegan spinach burger and my wife melted for their turmeric mayo. Los Tereros has great food also. Their tapas are creative, tasty, and quickly arrive. Don't overlook the guacamole at either location. Anytime we return to Barcelona we shall be back. One note, however, the waiter on our second trip to Gats was shit. The paella was as expected: very good. The service was also great. The benefit of this place is that you're close to La Rambla and our hotel in our case (Le Meridean) but not so close that you're paying the La Rambla Tourist Premium I highly recommend this little joint to anyone looking for a very substantial portion of excellent paella. read more

This is our fifth trip to Barcelona and we have tried so many tapas near la Rambla but this place is one of best! It's in one of back roads so it's not crazy hectic and has excellent ambiance. We had pimientos del pedron, calamari, paella mariscos and cod they were all great! You can't go wrong, except I wish they played more authentic Spanish music, not 70s American rock. Funky little joint with friendly staff and good food. We had a mixed salad, the bacalao croquettes and the seafood paella for two with a bottle of very nice dry white wine. Food was delicious and very reasonable. We couldn't finish it all. For me, the paella could have been a little more dry and crisp on the bottom but that's just me. It was a good mix of locals and tourists and we sat for a couple of hours listening to the various languages and watching people discover the food and enjoy their meals. Really enjoyed this place! Located just off Las Rablas, so didn't seem as touristy as many of those tapas bars. It also has a traditional feel. The restaurant is great for groups of all size. We ordered patatas bravas, croquetas de pollo, pinchos (pork), chorocitos diablo and calamari. All of the dishes were very good! After five dishes split between two people, we were stuffed. My personal favorites were: patatas bravas, chorocitos diablo and pinchos. My girlfriend enjoyed: patatas bravas, chicken croquetes, and calamari. We also ordered 1L of the red wine sangria which was good and strong. This was one of our favorite meals in Barcelona! Strongly recommend this place. One of the best places for tapas and paella! Must try in your visit to Barcelona. This place has a very Spanish feel, with traditional decorations and cozy lighting. Our party of 3 ordered/shared the pulpos, pimientos rellenos con queso crema, morcilla con cebolla and la paella mixta for 2 people (min 2 people to order a paella), all delicious and plenty of food for all. We tried the sangria, a bit stronger than what we were used to but still very good, and the house wine, which is sold by the glass and half bottle. Prices are very reasonable.
