Came at the height of lunch hour, and boqueria stalls are standing room only and this was the only place that had available tables for 2 (go figure). Plunked down, asked for WiFi password and ordered the usual tourist menu of gambas, half jamon iberico, manchego cheese, patatas fritas, bread and 2 glasses of Rose. £55 euros later, we stood up and was still hungry so we walked around the boqueria for crepe.... There are more restaurants in the area offering same menu for half the price !

These are the grilled mixed vegetables. Delish, but oily.

Casa Guinart is on La Rambla, located near one of the main entrances Mercado de La Boqueria. Tourist trap like all others? Thankfully, no. Sure it gets the mainstream of tourists (like me), but it is also home to locals and business people for lunch. A very cute, upscale place. 2 floors, thin and narrow. First floor, kitchen, prep, and counter seating. Second floor, table dining. Both adorable and rustic. I found the prices reasonable for what I ordered, and quality stuff. 1. Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli -- amazing, everything you would expect from freshly made ravioli with a cream sauce and fresh parm. Not a lot, but 5 medium-sized raviolis was perfect. [5.0 stars, €8.50, $8.99] 2. Patatas Bravas -- omg. Fresh fried chunk potatoes with a spicy aioli crema atop that was literally drinkable. [5.0 stars, €4.90, $5.18] 3. Mussels -- a boatload of mussels, 24 of them or so. I think, very well priced. Although they were cooked well, absolutely no flavor. Cook them in white wine, tomato, garlic -- something! [3.5 stars, €7, $7.41] With some white wine, this turned out to be a special date place for my gf and I, and one of our best meals in Barcelona. Recommend.

Jamón Ibérico (cured ham). Thinly sliced, direct from the black hoof pig leg. So delicious!

Casa Guinart is a great little tapas bar; located directly behind the Mercado de La Boqueria. My husband, sister, and I arrived around 4:30 pm and immediately found three stools at the bar. The bar overlooks the open kitchen area so you can watch the chefs prepare your food. We ordered several glasses of red wine as well as the marinated olives, jamon iberico (cured ham from an acorn fed, black hoofed Iberian pig), and fried padron peppers. Everything was so delicious! The tapas were all made to order and contained high quality ingredients. I would have ordered more from the menu, but we had dinner plans at 7 pm and I didn't want to spoil my appetite. We finished our meal with espressos and a plate of assorted cookies and truffles. Would definitely add this spot if you are looking for great tapas in Barcelona!

I have been to this staple restaurant on La Rambla for 4-5 times over the years I visited Barcelona. The seafood is among the freshest I have had in town. Sitting by the counter and drinking a cold beer while watching and waiting for your grilled shrimp, razor clams... is an experience I want to have again and again.

We wanted some grilled shrimps that we saw people eating in the market during the day time. Most of the restaurants in the market are alrdy closed, so we ended up with this since it's the only one opened. Didn't like the service, I thought the server was not friendly and had an attitude. Made a face when we ordered a main to share. Since we have been eating around all day, we just wanted to start small and see how we feel after the first dish. We orders grilled shrimp and it tasted really good and fresh but very expensive for just 6 pieces. We add another dish which was the octopus and it tasted good but forgettable. I think all restaurants in Barcelona tourist areas are all tourist trap. I def felt that way, I also find them not as friendly as they shld be since we the tourist are spending money in their country and keeping their economy alive. Will not return.

Súper buena comida y la atención espectacular

super muy bueno el servicio y la paella es una de las mejores echa al momento !!!! Se los recomiendo!!!

When I think back over the few days I spent exploring Barcelona, one of my fondest memories is the time I spent at Casa Guinart. Located on the busy Las Ramblas, with a direct entrance into the Mercado de La Boqueria, it's a wonderfully convenient location that offers up some pretty serious Tapas & neat wine selections. With a small quaint interior & a nice row of bar seating outside, it makes for the perfect place to people-watch as the bustle of locals & tourists alike, migrate down Las Ramblas. The Patatas Bravas (potatoes in spicy sauce with an aioli foam) are absolute magic, fast becoming one of my favorite dishes on the menu. The tapas size paella is delicious, while a little spendy for its size, it felt worth every cent. With a nice crust & hitting all of the right flavor notes, it was easily the best paella I had whilst visiting Spain. Other notable dishes include the scallops with romesco sauce, the Iberico tasting plate & the braised oxtail. The food here is just divine. If you're looking for extremely tasty, casual & fuss free tapas in Barcelona, look no further than Casa Guinart. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing spinach and ricotta ravioli and jamon sampler. Local patatas bravas was great too. I also enjoyed the sangria. The location is right next to the Mercat la Boqueria.

    Steamed mussels - 7 euros

A cute place in La Rambla. The kitchen appears well organized and the seafood displayed at the bar looks fresh. Food is just okay. I had steamed mussels and it tasted good, but bit too salty. A small dish of mussels was 7 euros and I find that a little bit expensive compared to other restaurants. The experience here was okay, but I left upset due to the service. I paid with credit card and saw I got charged in US dollars. On the receipt it was written that there is a 3.5% markup for foreign currency transaction. I ask them to cancel the transaction and swipe the card again since I wanted to pay in euros. The server said that they are unable to cancel the transaction and just shrugged, not so apologetic. I'm pretty sure that there is no such thing as 'I can't cancel a credit card transaction.' It's just bad service.

Fresh... nothing stood out. But the artichokes was the dish of the day and it was amazing!!

I love this place, friendly staff and sitting at the bar watching the chefs at work makes it more enjoyable. I particularly like the grill iberico pork, tender and imo very similar to veal. The one thing I want to remind you all, as strangers come in and out pretending to look for the menu, be very careful with your belongings!! I left my phone out and the chef was quick to remind me to put it away as he spotted a potential thief who was about to take it away!!!

I stopped by this place for lunch one day while visiting the city. I had the pulpo (octopus). Good flavor although I do prefer mine a bit more charred. The potatoes served alongside where seasoned nicely.

This is a restaurant right off Boqueria and has been in existence since 1899 ! I don't know why it is still around! The food was horrible . I was trying not to eat at Rambla - but we were really hungry. I regret it. Avoid this place!

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! This is the first restaurant I stopped at for some tapas during my trip to Barcelona and it spoiled…read moreme. I ordered a few things so let me talk about each one. Ham & Chicken Croquette: This was too good for how small it was. Just a nice potato croquette filled with some great quality ham and chicken. It was akin to a cordon bleu. White Asparagus with Baby Beans and Ham: This one floored me. Tender white asparagus in a vinegar based sauce with some tender ham and beans. I could have had two orders of this. Pulpo (Octopus) with Pork Belly: Not the best Pulpo of the trip but it sure set the standard. The octopus was unbelievably tender and you can just taste how fresh it is. The pork belly slice almost felt like an odd choice here to be honest. I didn't really know how to eat it with the pulpo since it overpowered it. The pork belly itself wasn't very impressive either so I kinda brushed it off at the end. It was a bit dry at some parts and just kept throwing me off. Gambas roja a la plancha: Prawns are EVERYWHERE here and they know how to cook them. These were tasty but not the freshest or most flavorful I had this trip either. Always eat the shell! Scallops a la plancha in a leek-apple based sauce with bits of crisped ham: This dish on its own makes this place a 5. The sauce is DIVINE. It's a little sweet and creamy to contrast the savory, perfectly cooked scallops swimming in it. The crunchy bits of ham give you a nice texture surprise with some much needed salt to balance it all out. These scallops practically melted in my mouth with each bite. This is a must try. Beef filet and foie gras montadito: Basically steak and foie gras on a toasty slice of bread. Honestly? This was the weakest dish here. The steak itself was just okay and I didn't really like the foie gras. It was like a very gamey butter. I'm sure it has its applications but it just felt like too much going on here. I'd pass on it. Chocolate in 3 textures: So for dessert I wanted chocolate so I went for the choco bomb. It was okay. I guess the three textures were the ganache, mousse, and wafers? It just reminded me of an elevated chocolate wafer bar like one from Loaker. I'd also pass on this dessert. My server was lovely and the atmosphere here is vibrant. Though there were few misses I would absolutely eat here again and get the things I loved but switch up the rest. That's part of the fun in tapas anyway.

The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up. Overall, what a great experience for our first meal in Barcelona! Cute and hidden gem.
