A bunch of us from the Indianapolis Hiking Group (19) decided to hike in and around Peru (the birthplace of the late, great Cole Porter) today to commemorate Cole Porter's birthday which was on June 9th. There were plenty of celebrations around town and we hiked around 9 miles on streets, wooded areas, and along the Wabash River. The good folks at the Museum in town educated us on the life of Cole Porter and recommended several places for us to eat and about 4 of us decided to go to Los Tres Caminos. Let me start out by saying that our server was a very pleasant young man who did a great job of keeping up with 4 VERY hungry people...the chips and salsa kept coming :-) They even custom-made a Cherry Coke for one of our hikers. Two of us ordered the Quesedilla Mazatlan which was yummy. The other two ordered chimichungas with rice and beans from the a la carte menu. I was charged $50 for 3 orders of Arroz Con Pollo! That's a $9/10 meal each max! Not $16+ Never again. We will go to Wabash - better Mexican food anyways. I called to confirm their price after the fact since my wife picked it up and brought it home. The man hung up on me. Shocker. read more

Last review stands. I would like to add that I was told that the rice which comes with all but one of the "vegetarian" items on their menu contains chicken base. SMH. The beans, however, are vegetarian and contain no lard. Allegedly. Service is hit or miss. They charge you extra for a to go order even if you are dining in and decide to get something else to take home. SMH again. It feels grungy in here like an old mop wiped every surface. Not the worst but definitely not the best. Limited options in Peru. If you want good Mexican food go to a different city. I dined at this location multiple times but haven't returned since I verified the rice and chicken base situation. read more

Los Tres Caminos has become one of our Peru go-to restaurants. The food is good - not great, but solidly good. We've eaten there I don't know how many times, and never had a meal I didn't enjoy. The decor is tastefully Mexican, the service is always good. The prices are also quite reasonable. Our favorites are the carnitas and the (aptly named) camarones a la diabla (which boast a decent level of heat). read more

The service was prompt + friendly. My husband + I both ordered the El Mocajete. The presentation on a flaming platter was delightful. The meats and veggies were thinly sliced but the taste is what blew us away. We'll eat here again (if we're ever in Peru, IN) read more

Great Mexican food. Service quick, beer cold and atmosphere good. Do you like hot sauce? They have different kinds and can get spicy.

Gross. I ordered the taco salad as a take out order as I was driving thru this area. The meat in the taco salad was barely seasoned, one slice of tomato was laid on top, the white cheese was in clumps. The salsa that came on the side was one step above tomato sauce-- bland and smooth. But the real deal breaker was the black chunk of something I found in the taco meat. Could not identify but maybe part of a button?? Two thumbs down. I almost forgot a very important thing---- the taco shell tasted like cleaner had been sprayed on it or in the vicinity of it!!! read more

This isn't Mexican food, this is what white people think is Mexican food. Ordered the steak Colorado. The red sauce was basically water, tasted like water, which drowned the entire plate. Everything was watered down, including their 'salsa'. Who puts carrots and peas in Mexican Rice? Their refried beans were watered down and either old or reheated added with salt. We traveled from Kokomo to eat here. We were very pleased with the service- waiters and check out staff. The menu has a nice selection to choose from. The portions and prices are very good. I've eaten at both locations several times. Food is inexpensive, served quickly, and really good. Now, like buying fresh Red Snapper in Burbank Ca. that is only hours old...you cannot expect 'authentic' Mexican food in Indiana...but this is real close. Snobs need not apply. Pros: Close to where I'm working fo the summer, super fast and friendly service, reasonable lunch prices. Cons: possibly the blandest Mexican food I've ever eaten in my life. Watery beans. Rice with shriveled peas and carrots. Vinegary, not-hot salsa. It is basically exactly what you would expect a Mexican restaurant in Peru, IN to be. No pleasant surprises here. The service is good, the portions are acceptable, the store appeared clean, the food isn't particularly special, perhaps it was a bit unseasoned overall. It was just A-OK, I'd go again, maybe look for something a bit more like an dinner, not a lunch burrito, and ask about seasoning or some chilies. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in our small town due to the friendly fast service, atmosphere, and awesome chips and salsa. Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean, food is always on point. We like a little more heat in our salsa, but there's a variety of spice packing condiments at the table. My current faves are the pork street tacos with pico de gallo and guacamole. Their chorizo cheese dip is an awesome appetizer and pairs well with one of their well balanced margaritas or a pint of Modelo on draft. Unfortunately, this is the only choice in our small town if one is craving Mexican fare. The selections are the usual, boring items that are common with Americanized Mexican restaurants. We ordered two Chicken Chimi Dinners and we received Spanish Rice that looked like it was pre-made, packaged rice that had carrots and peas in it. (Yuck) Authentic Spanish Rice it was not nor was it fresh. The beans were runny and had no flavour and the Chimi was small and had very little of the chicken filling and what was there was bland. As for the pre meal tortilla chips and salsa, the chips were ok but the salsa was bland and has no flavour either. Over all we were extremely disappointed in this place and definitely will not go back until they start making authentic food that is fresh and has some flavour . read more

My family absolutely loves the food and drinks here! We've been coming to Los Tres for years and have never received a bad meal. The restaurant is always clean and the waiters are always friendly. This place is good to some extent. I typically come here for just the cheese dip and chips. If you are looking for a spicy place to eat than this is not your place. You would think that it being a Mexican resturaunt that it would be, but everytime I order anything, there is no kick to any of their meals. The last time I was there I had a couple of my buddies with me. We all had a meal that had their what you call taco meat. It seemed very watered down and almost as if their was some kind of soy base involved, which threw all of us off on the flavor. My husband and I frequent the Los Tres Caminos on North Broadway which is the original location. We have developed friendships with many of the staff members over the years. They are all very nice and attentive and remember what we like to drink and eat! (Dos Equis draft) and I love to Taquitos Guadalajara! The service is super fast so I recommend not ordering your food right away if you just want to relax and enjoy your company for awhile. My only actual complaint is the margaritas. I know lots of people that love them but I think they are horrible. ( I'm a bartender so I'm kinda snobby though!) They are just tequila and some chemical compound better known as sweet n sour mix. Have went to this restaurant since I was a kid and always loved to get the big pancho burrito. Well tonight I took my kids there for dinner and got my mother and stepfather dinner as a surprise. $50 later we sit down to eat and every single meal was ice cold. I call to complain to the manager and he proceeds to sit the phone down and started talking in Spanish to his coworkers, who know what he was saying. But then he comes back on the phone and tells me that the best he can do is give me a $25 credit for next time I come in, unless I want to bring all the food back and then he came give me my money back. Well I've already drove there from out in the country and now I have to drive back to get my money back and have to get the kids ready to go out again? Why? It's not my fault they served me cold food. I paid full price for my food and I expect atleast warm food. But no we had to put every meal in the microwave just to have heat to it. When he tells me that's all he will do I question that because it just doesn't seem very fair to the customer and he tells me in a very arrogant tone that " no one else in town would give you half your money back in a credit". Well if that's how you treat your long time customers I don't want any part of your establishment. Do not recommend anyone going here! read more

Service is excellent. The chips and dip are soo yummy! You can tell the staff works hard to keep the place neat and orderly. I've only eaten here a handful of times, and I have no complaints! The food is pretty decent for what you pay, a lot of it is americanized mexican, but hey, I'm okay with that. I go for a burrito, and I get a burrito! Employees are very friendly. I brought my daughter in with me once and they waiter was very good with her. I will definitely keep coming back, if not for the atmosphere alone! read more

After having been to MANY Mexican joints across the country, the one we are stuck with in our hometown is this place. We have been there numerous times ONLY because it is the ONLY Mexican restaurant in Peru, Indiana & one would have to travel over a hour to get to a really good Mexican Food establishment if that is what you were desiring to knosh on at that moment. We ordered several items from the standard Mexamerican Fare. After being seated we received the normal chips & salsa. The Salsa was bland, tasteless without any noticeable heat to it, no taste of any spice or seasonings, just tasted like bland tomato puree. I had the Chicken Chimi Dinner which was also bland, the tortilla was soggy, chicken was dry & had NO flavor at all. The Spanish Rice, had of all things peas & carrots in it, which in my opinion tells me that they are using pre-made, frozen commercial rice that should be used as filler rather than a Mexican Side Dish. The Re-fried Beans were scary looking and inedible. My son had the Pork Carnitas and he refused to eat it. I have NO idea what kind of meat they served him but it was cold, huge chunks of something, tasteless, bland, large chunks of meat, maybe about 8 almost 2 inch diameter hunks of meat, the tortillas were wrapped in some kind of foil, NO lime served with the dish and it was just horrific. Overall this place should be ashamed of calling themselves a Mexican Restaurant. Their food is horrible, completely tasteless, nothing original or special at all. It's too bad that the City of Peru is stuck with 2 of these places in town and there aren't any other competitors because if there were, maybe Los Tres would get their act together. As it stands now, I will never go back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Love it. Everything is wonderful. Sometimes my chicken quesadilla is too soggy though! And the guacamole too watery. Other than that great.
