Standard Mexican resultant, but the food is great and so are the margaritas. We regularly go here and never disappointed

I have eaten here twice and both times the food has been good. Quick service and decent prices.

Seating was quick. About half of all seating is a booth. Decorations were above average. Noise level was moderate, so okay for conversation. Service was very good. Coke soda for those who care about those things. Prices are Several chip comments on other reviews, so will say chips were warm, thin, tasty. Salsa was average. Thin chips leads to more small pieces at the bottom of the basket! Food was okay. Low end burrito enchilada chalupa combo was okay. Mid-level pollo zerape had a good amount of chicken. We did not try the $16-19 entrees but suspect they are good. This is a solid restaurant - it's a 3+ star rating - I couldn't find anything to raise it to a 4-star rating. read more

Food was not bad to begin with, but the prices became BAFFLING. At first, I was like, okay, this isn't bad. Me and my boyfriend would get carry-out from them almost every week or every other, until they kept changing the price on me EVERY TIME I would pay. Mind you, I couldn't find an accurate menu online either. We would get the exact same thing every time though. Yet somehow, the "carry out fee" kept rising. We went from paying around $35 (give or take with tax of-course) to almost $50+ for two chicken, cheese, and rice meals, and queso. I used to speak highly of this place until they started doing this. I had also noticed different people would ring up a different price for me as well, all staring "carry out fees". It felt scammy and unnecessary. I'm taking my time and gas to drive and pick up the food and bring it back home, why the hell should I have to pay an extra $15-$20 for that?? No one should have to pay essentially for an extra meal just because we don't have time or don't what to sit in a restaurant. Not okay. El Toro and Dos Reals takes good care of us now though! read more

Mediocre service, mediocre food. Not my first choice for Mexican food. I'll go to El Toro (on Springfield or at the fields) over going here.

I went there with my friend today and we both just got some queso and we were talking and soon after both our stomachs started hurting and we felt horrible. I love their food but this was the worst experience ever, my stomach felt horrible and I wanted to throw up. read more

Just because this place is super busy doesn't mean it's good. They don't offer mezcal and have a poor variety of adult beverages. Chips did not taste homemade. Chicken was very dry. More Tex mex than anything else. Travel to Champaign for better quality and variety. read more

Los Zarapes is consistently delicious with fast and friendly service. El Toro Bravo that I'd frequented in the past has seemed to gone a little down hill in both of those areas, and this was another convenient place with traditional Mexican food that my husband I decided to give a try. They seem to be well staffed and everyone has been friendly, huge menu selection, very quick service each time we've dined in, and the food has been great with both dine in and take out. Yes! I have finally found a Mexican restaurant that is comparable to back home. Chips and salsa were good. The chips were fresh. The queso dip was good as well. For my lunch I ordered a chicken chimichanga which came with rice, beans and pico de gallo which was nice because around here I have found that most places do not serve rice with your meal. The servers were friendly and attentive. The place was clean. I will definitely go back. read more

Greeter could care less. I think she was 12. Margaritas were hot and tasted like there was no tequila in it. And apparently it takes 30 minutes to make one cheese quesadilla. Not impressed at all. Waiter was nice I guess. read more

Family owned business, excellent customer service and delicious food at a reasonable price! Worth a visit!

We are regulars in this place now. Before we hit the point of our family being recognized by the amazing staff, we were always treated extremely friendly, fast service, accurate orders and extremely fresh food. Example of service: we had a to go order one night 5 minutes from closing and they ran out of lettuce. Despite being the last customer in there, they ran next door to IGA and got lettuce and threw in an extra giant bag of chips for the bit of extra wait time. Chips are almost always fresh, occasionally overdone but that is few and far between. The food is always superb and my favorite dish to get is the Molcajete. So much food, incredibly tasty sauce, presentation is a real WOW. Overall, their dishes seem a less "Americanized" than some of the other Mexican places in CU, with the fact that not everything is smothered in 2 inches of cheese or drowned in salt. Definite little gem here in Mahomet and worth the trip out. read more

I just love this place! It's tucked away at the Eastwood Shopping Center off of Rt. 47 (it recently moved from its original location to a few storefronts down.) I've rarely had such warm, prompt, friendly service or such good food. I always order the veggie fajitas, and they arrive sizzling and delicious. They include not only the usual onions and peppers, but broccoli, cauliflower, and other sauteed veggies, with a bean, guacamole and tomato side. They also have my favorite Jarritto's Mexican soda in every flavor-perfect to wash it all down with. I'm a larger woman so I appreciate the roomy and comfortable booths. The only item on the menu I'm a bit less enthusiastic about is their guacamole-it's made perfectly but it always tastes like they used avocodos that aren't quite ripe. Other than that, I'd have to give this great little restaurant a 10!!! read more

My family and I have been eating here since they first opened. It has been an absolute delight. The food is delicious, always served piping hot very quickly. The staff is wonderful, very friendly. Outstanding! Ice cold beer in frozen mugs was awesome. Food was delicious too. Wide variety on the menu and warm, fresh chips with your salsa. I think Yelp has the wrong address. It's in the Eastwood Plaza just off I-74, not on Eastwood Drive. read more

OK - we did not challenge the culinary capabilities of this restaurant. We were on a quick run to Bloomington airport from Champaign. BUT a quick enchilada and beans was everything it was supposed to be. Service was functional, but we were only there for fifteen minutes tops. Our first visit to this restaurant. Can't believe we waited so long. This was not your cookie cutter Mexican restaurant. I had a chicken dish that was excellent. Light and flavorful. My husband had the chimichanga and enjoyed it also commenting that the rice was very good. The prices were very reasonable.
