I was a member at Lost Key Golf Club for over a year. I received military orders to move to a new location so I talked to John at the pro shop and then Ricky who I was told could cancel my membership. When I spoke with Ricky he said that he had canceled it and nothing else was needed. Come a few months down the road of me not even being in Pensacola I realized I was still being charged for the membership. I was put in contact with Mike Troyner, the general manager. He has now said that they will not refund me without written proof even though I played my last round there before I canceled and provided them with my orders dated for that next month. This is a course that takes advantage of its members and other golfers. The whole clubhouse should be fired and restaffed with people that actually know how to run a golf club. read more

Golf course conditions were great on greens . Fairway ok - many areas roped off to repair. Tee boxes good. Course layout was interesting some fairways were narrow enough to require accurate tee shots. Cart paths were often smooth sand paths. Staff were friendly. Clubhouse was upscale. Staff here is great, in the Pro Shop and the Restaurant. Played the course a few times and it is very well maintained but difficult to not lose your ball if you hook or push it. The prices for breakfast and lunch are cheap compared to the price to play a round and compared to many other restaurants in the area, especially the few that serve breakfast within walking distance of the Lost Key community. The Golf Course and Restaurant are open to the public in the middle of a private community, so it's like a hidden gem. read more

Finally played this course over the holidays and not overly impressed with it. Check-in and getting the cart was fine, and your fees get you a small bucket of balls to warm up with. You can purchase a course guide for a fee, and I thought this was pretty stingy for a course that's pretty expensive to play at to begin with. From reading the reviews before playing, the course does live up to its reputation of being a tight course. I didn't lose as many balls as I thought I would, but that's likely because of hazards not having as much water as they usually do. I also played much smarter than I usually do since I didn't want to lose many balls. With the exception of a solo player we saw on the course, we were the only ones out playing. Greens were in good shape and played a little fast. Fairways were in good shape as well. Tee boxes could be marked a little better, especially getting the markers pointing in direction of the green. We found ourselves teeing off in directions that seemed correct and reasonable to any golfer, only to find out we should have gone in a different direction. I'm an owner in Lost Key and I have to admit this golf course is not worth the posted price for the general public. The membership price and monthly fees are a bit outrageous, and I can't understand non-members paying $90/round unless they're paying a golfnow special rate (check golfnow right after midnight or early in the morning if you have a flexible schedule). 1.5 stars, mostly due to the poor value, stingy with the course guide, and counter-intuitive tee boxes. read more

Checking out local golf courses on our vacations is a must. So we gave Lost Key a chance since we are both Arnold Palmer fans and he designed this course. It did not disappoint! I love the way the course focuses more on accuracy then distance. The greens are in my Top 3 best ever. Absolutely looks and feels like carpet. My only negative and this is super nit picky is the cart path ends or gets confusing in some areas esp for first time players. Other than that I highly recommend this course. read more

Very peaceful place to be with 5 kids. We were here to visit my oldest daughter that is in the Navy in Pensacola. My youngest is a very autistic child. This condo we rented is 3 bedroom and 2 bath. We love it because it is a very sound proof for him because he loves to jump and scream. Very friendly residents people. Near to the beach and others restaurants. Four stars for the clubhouse food. The golf course itself is a tough course and a ball eater of epic fame. The menu is pretty basic, with a limited selection. I had the reuben sandwich, with a side of fries. Great sandwich with a lot of meat and kraut...which met my expectations of what an $11 sandwich should look like (I posted a pic). Others in my party got the club sandwich and a half sandwich of some variety that I can't remember. No complaints from anybody on the food. The service was great and friendly. You could take your own food, I suppose, but the clubhouse offers a mid-course respite from the sun and a welcome break from trying to hunt down your golf ball in the swamps that line each fairway. I didn't see any snakes, but I'm certain that the course is chock full of 'em. read more

We spent a week at the Lost Key Resort and many hours at the pool and beach. The service at the club was more than we could have asked for. The servers were kind and provided excellent service. We utilized the beach service and service at the pool. Matt, Devin, Chris, and Ashley greeted or family with smiles and our kids couldn't wait to see them each day. We are leaving Perdido Key with many memories made from the beach. We will be back. We felt the prices for the quality of drinks being served at the beach were reasonable. The food we had was also quite good. I would recommend the Southwest rBe sure to check out their daily drink specials for the adults. Soda was $2 with unlimited refills and well worth it each day for the kids. read more

I have been playing this once treasured gem of a golf course for over 20 years. However, I was sorely disappointed during my last 3 rounds played at this facility. Weekday round rates actually increased from $80 to $95, even on a Monday. Their green fee structure is so ridiculous that the course was deserted, even on a Saturday! Rental clubs were ancient & filthy each of the 3 times we received them. The golf course staff seemed indifferent & oblivious to previously excellent customer service & amenities. I dropped my bag at the bag drop, & nobody was there to pick them up & place them on the cart with the rental clubs I had purchased which sat on the back of a cart by the shed 50 yards away. Why have a bag drop by the circle drive if nobody will tend to them? One of the rounds we played was rained out in a torrential downpour. I went to the clubhouse & asked for a rain check, at which time they asked me how many holes we had played. When I told them, they subsequently deducted 3 holes from my rain check & we received 3 pro-rated rain checks. The cart attendant vehemently refused to wipe down the rental clubs prior to our use, even when instructed to do so at our request. We also received only 1 towel in each cart with 2 people in it. That math doesn't quite add up. In addition, although the greens were excellent, parts the rest of the course were under repair & had sand packed in several areas of the fairways. I had previously told my relatives that Lost Key was my home course , about how plush & what a fun track it was. However, after our experience I was totally embarrassed to boast such a claim. Perdido Bay & other surrounding courses offer a better experience & rates. Lost Key has officially cratered in my opinion. read more

Course was ok. Guy working the counter was rude. He closed and locked the pro shop with our luggage and golf travel bags still inside. Thanks to the kid putting away golf carts who had to call 4-5 different people before someone would respond to open up. Counter guy commented to one of our police guys when he presented his ID for the discount, which the club told us they offered, "Is that the same badge the other guy showed me? Like we were passing it around. Showed him my bank statement that I had paid for my round weeks ahead of time. In spite of that he kept me at the counter for a long time because he couldn't find it in their computer. He later came and interrupted my lunch asking me again if he could see the info on my phone. Although my husband plays this course once a year with a group of friends, this review is NOT for the course (labeled "tough" by my husband). It is, instead, for the club bar (does it have a name?). My son and I had almost an hour to wait until my husband finished his round. We chose seats at the bar and ordered beers. He asked to have the TV channel changed to an NFL game, and Jeanell, the bartender was more than willing to accommodate. Before long, we ordered Chips and Salsa with Queso, which was delicious! Great course. Challenging on every hole. Clubhouse is very clean and comfortable setting. Mimosas and bloody Mary's are stronger than normal (excellent). Food is good. Staff are very hospitable and accommodating. They make you feel at home. Overall the Lost Key community as a whole feels like a 5 star resort community with a 3 star sticker price. Very great value for the money you pay. Leave your wife and kids at the beautiful Beach club while you play a round of golf. read more

Nice course, not impressed with the club house staff, one individual in particular. I do wish I paid attention or asked what his name was as when checking in I grabbed a sleeve of pro V1's, this person at the register told me he had cheaper balls to sell me and I should buy a dozen Kirkland or Precepts because his course was known as "lost ball" and I would be unable to keep the ball in play. I ended up buying a sleeve of Callaway super soft that I typically play with mostly because my wife fell into his trap and placed the sleeve on the counter. Did I need to play with overprices pro v1's, absolutely not. What I absolutely hate is when I walk into a retailer and place a product onto the counter its because I made a decision to do that, I dont need or want your opinion. He had this snobby ass attitude like I was an inferior player and he was doing me a favor...... Well captain douche rocket... I lost one ball on 12 with an aggressive second shot that found the water and still made par..... I still have your sleeve of callaways... Never will play them or your course again...: read more

This entire "resort" is miserable. You have to have a key or a fob to do anything. Better plan to carry a bag and a lease agreement everywhere. Betty at the gate will not let you in without a notarized lease agreement even if you are an owner. Purchase was the worse possible decision i have ever made. 30 minutes to get from your condo to the beach. Once at the beach you will be greeted with really cheap pool lounge chairs, not beach chairs, and an unbelievable lack of umbrellas. Therefore, if you get there past 10am, plan to bake in the sun until heat stroke. Food and drinks on the beach are absolutely terrible. You'd be better off saving your money, sleeping in your car, and drinking everclear out of the bottle vs. staying/buying here or vacationing here. read more

Came here back in May with one of my best friends to play a round. The course is probably the nicest course I have yet to place and the staff is very nice at the bar when we got drinks and at the pro shop. The course is tough and if you have a natural slice like I do, I don't recommend using Pro V 1's like I did. read more

Great course...played a tournament here hosted by Baton Rouge Bar Assn...start off with the cart girl, smoking hot with a perky double barrelled personality and she knew it...definitely made me long to be about 12 years younger!! Excellent clubhouse, nice bar and locker room...never saw the Pro Shop... Now to the course, it's a nice and fair set up...however you best hit it semi straight cause you ain't finding no balls that hook left or slice right...heard this place gotta nickname of Lost Ball Golf Club... Tee to green this place is immaculate and well maintained...Semi-private so the public can play but I'd check the website for the green fees charged...they vary based on time of year and time of day... If you're in Orange Beach or Pensacola or anywhere in between and looking to swing the sticks check this place out...it'll give you a test...but still be fun read more

Not sure what course Reggie played but this is a well deserved 5 stars. Played courses from California, Arizona, Washington, Georgia, Florida, all the way to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia. With that said this course is in my top 2 or three ever played. Really fun and friendly atmosphere. The guy took my clubs out of my car and told me after I paid the cart would be waiting for me. They give you towels and tees included in the cart and I got a free bucket of balls to warm up with. The course was in EXCELLENT shape and the best greens I've played on. While the course is challenging it isn't as scary as people made it out to be. I shot my average. My recommendation if your in the Pensacola area is lost key. Great layout and well worth the $60 green fees. The fairways are well kept, greens have a lot of attitude however they are inconsistent which can cost you strokes. Great scenery, and great staff in the pro shop. Bring water, they only have water holes every 4th hole and no drink cart in sight. The locals are a bit "snobbish" but to be expected. read more

Went to the first tee at 2:05 after checking in at pro shop. $50 greens fees couldn't be paid by credit card because 'phone lines have been weird since storm four months ago.' Paid cash. Couldn't issue a receipt because computers were behaving strangely also. On the course, fairways are narrow with little or no rough to border them. Beyond fairways are hazards, poorly maintained waste areas or red-stake scrub growth. Greens are the slowest and bumpiest I've EVER played. Sand traps will effortlessly plug your ball, they are so soft. Expect sand up to or beyond your ankles once you set foot into a bunker. The starter allowed a six-some to tee off before Adam and me as a twosome, apparently without advice to let faster players play through, because they never yielded to our ever-pressing presence. We finished nine holes at 5:15, three hours and ten minutes after tee-off, absolutely fuming and humorless. The pro shop had closed at five, so there was no one to complain to or request a refund or rain check from, like I'd ever want to return here. read more

Course was in great shape and the greens were rolling perfect! All of the staff were very friendly and the beverage cart passed at least 4 times which was very important with the temperature above 90. Yes, the course is tight, but there are 6 different tees to pick from. Enjoyed my day! read more

Looking for resort style golf and not wanting to save some money on a tee time? This is the place you want to play! Every year we come down to the gulf shores we play this course at least once. They greet you at your vehicle and grab your clubs and take them to the carts for you. Every cart has a hand towel for each seat and stock of tees. You get free range balls as well. Staff is friendly, pro shop is nice and clean. If you need to rent clubs $55 for up to date clubs vs similar price rental for Walmart special. I've read some of the reviews on here and there has been done negativity over the pro shop staff. I didn't see that any time I've been there but I will say the wait staff and course staff are very friendly. It's an interesting layout for the course with some neat drive up bunkers. Pictures you see in ads for golf in resorts may have come from this course. I wish I took some pictures. read more

Course is in the best shape I've ever seen it! Played 7 different courses in the past 10 days and by far Lost Key was not only my favorite to play but the staff alone makes you want to come back due to their southern charm. My group and I have been taking a golf trip in this area for about 5-6 years now and year in year out we all love coming to Lost Key. From tee to green the course is just absolutly plush and the greens are in superb shape. The Pro shop staff consists of the Head Pro Roger and the young man behind the counter Tyler. Both made us feel as if were apart of their family. Both were very helpful as was their entire staff from the cart guy to the starter/ranger. We cannot wait to come back next spring! read more

I don't know how the course plays because I was treated so unprofessionally in the "Pro Shop"... I was told by a friendly employee in a cart outside to go inside and talk to the golf pro to find out about membership... When I approached the point of sale area there were three men standing behind the counter doing absolutely nothing.... Not a single person in the shop but yours truly. I began the conversation because none of them greeted me and the golf "pro" in charge sized me up as he was leaning on the back wall counter.... No handshake no smile just stares from all three of them,.., so, I began with "I'm not a member but I was wondering if you are open to public membership and how much it would cost per year...." Blank stares from two of them..... The lead jerk said "Well, the season is pretty much over and we are open to the public daily..." As if the membership question was a dumb one... Again I replied "I realize you can pay for daily rounds of golf.... I was inquiring about membership prices.." Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum didn't say anything so the head pompous a-hole said " well, it depends if your a single family or what you want.." And then stared at me without saying another word... So, I said "Do you have a website or something so I can review the prices and offers...." (I was willing to pay up to 15k if it was a good deal)... He said sarcastically "yes, Lostkey.com" and Twiddle Dee thought that was funny.... Then dead silence.... He never got his butt off of the counter still leaning on the counter staring at me... So, I said "Thank you, you've been more than helpful".. Admittedly with my own sense of sarcasm. I walked out and began writing this review.... If you like mediocre greens, over priced food, and pompous ass golf pros who think they work at Pebble Beach then this place is for you! There is a much nicer course just before the bridge and the employees are human and helpful.... Go to Perdido Bay Golf Resort instead.... read more
