I got an almond lingonberry cake and tebirkes (looks similar to a croissant but with almond paste inside and poppy seeds on top). The almond lingonberry cake was a nice mix of sweet and tart. The tebirkes was yummy, not too sweet! I read other reviews before going in, and they mentioned an additional service? fee that is automatically added. I noticed that my total was higher than the total I estimated. I didn't want to cause a trouble and ask about the additional fee. I think that it's a little sneaky, because you don't see the additional fee unless you say yes for the receipt to be printed/emailed to you. The i-pad screen only shows the after tax and after service fee amount. And then it asks for tip on top of that. Bar seating near window, small 2 person tables. Not ideal for large gatherings.

Lost Larson has a solid offering of both sweet and savory pastries and very well made drinks. Plenty of seating and relatively quiet- it's a great spot to meet up with friends or stop for a quick study session. The baristas are friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel very welcome here!

You know, I continue to be completely impressed by the pastries at Lost Larson. It's really darn hard to make a solid line of savory pastries that feel light and tasty without being too heavy, but man lost Larson found a way. Yesterday we tried the kale/cheddar, ham/cheese, almond, and spinach/feta pastries. All of them were fresh, light, and incredible.

Cool upscale Andersonville bakery where you can get homemade baked goods and surprisingly good coffee amongst other coffee beverages. I also have tried their cold brew which is very good. The cream cheese muffin is damn good. There are a few rabies inside where you can set up and do a little work while enjoying their offerings. Out back they have a really nice patio seating area I discovered on the way out. I'll be back to try Lost Larsons again and more specifically their patio. All in all a great independent neighborhood spot in a great neighborhood.

A table on the sidewalk outside of Lost Larson in Andersonville. On the table is a "large" London Fog (tea latte) and an almond croissant.

Meh. First-time customer. I ordered a large London Fog, and if they truly served me a large (see photo), I'd hate to see what a small looks like. Thimble-sized? The almond croissant was pleasant and flaky, but almost completely devoid of almond paste/filling. Staff not especially friendly. Space seems okay. There are other, better bakery-cafes in Chicago and this one doesn't merit a second visit.

This coffee shop is located in what seems to be the hipster area of Chicago. People were super friendly in passing and very care free. Seems to be a welcoming area of all walks of life and very accepting. Lost Larson is very popular. A friend who lives in Chicago recommended this place because it's one of her faves. I can see why. The danishes and other bakery items were really good. If they have the cake (can't even remember the flavor) but it had white icing and very fresh tasting....get it! They literally had one slice left, so I knew then it must be a hit. The matcha was good, but could be better. The matcha to milk ratio seemed to be off. More milky than matcha.

Got a toogoodtogo bag here (very competitive to get) - and it makes sense because their pastries, both savory and sweet, come highly recommended by my chicagoan friend. Got 7 pastries - all were very fresh, balanced, and nuanced in flavor. Pictured is a turbines and cardamom bun. Not pictured, but also got a croissant, cheddar and kale scone, blueberry muffin (which was fire), and another cardamom bun. All pastries were fresh - and the staff were super inviting and friendly. The space is very simplistic and elegant, and has some seating indoor and more outdoors. Would definitely come back for their pastries as they do both savory and sweet pastries well. Side street parking can be hard to find here, but there are residential areas nearby.

Chocolate Spelt Cookie Lingonberry Almond Cake Tea

Stopped in for a quick pastry and tea. Quickly greeted at the register and ordered. Not much seating inside but plenty of space to chill. Big window counters so you can do a quick lap to see what to get. The spelt cookie had a different almost grainy like texture from a normal chocolate chip cookie. The lingonberry almond pastry was very good with a great tartness. Teas were also on point.

The croissant and pastries here were good - I wish they were little softer & fluffier but we went towards the end of the day so maybe needed to go earlier to get the most fresh pastry. Overall it was a fun spot to try a little treat, and would go back to try their coffee!

They pastries are already fabulous, and its apparent with how quickly they sell out some mornings. Recently came by and tried their breakfast sandwich and I am hooked! They come on a fresh brioche bun with a housemade sausage patty that is juicy but not too fatty, a egg patty that is fluffy, thin pickles and an aioli sauce that wraps it all up. Seriously it is so good!!! They gave me another reason to come back around and I'll be back!

Amazing pastries, amazing coffee. What more can I say. It is a more upscale place place, the prices are steeper than I'd usually spend however the quality makes the prices feel reasonable. Street parking as very easy and employees were friendly.

We had 2 minutes to grab something before our Lyft arrived and so I got a Cardamom pastry and a kouign Amon. This place has the best pastries!!!

Finally made it to Lost Larson! Really good pastries, I can't remember exactly what we got but I really enjoyed the one with goat cheese in the middle (savory) and the morning bun. Coffee was really good too, and we got a window table which was a nice ambiance! I'd come back here if I was I in the area, but probably wouldn't come out of my way.

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Seating is pretty limited, but it looked like most folks were picking up pastries to go, but either way you order at the front one party at a time. Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

(Also, keep in mind that mornings are walk-in only, you can't order the breakfast sandwich online like you can with the pastries, and reservations are strictly for their dinner service.) Stepping inside is a welcome relief from the sun. The interior is modern and light-filled, featuring a gorgeous pastry display at the central ordering counter. The space is tight, loud, and bustling. Which makes sense given the sheer volume of people they serve, so you'll have to try and snag one of the few seats along the edges. Once we finally ordered, the service was incredibly fast. The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. When I took a sip of coffee afterwards it made my coffee taste like I was drinking fresh orange juice. The pistachio is more cake like inside than full paste and isn't too sweet. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. The splashes of Dijon cut through and it doesn't feel oily at all.

Let me tell you, it was all I hoped it could be and more. The storefront was pretty small with a few tables- between the size, hours, and popularity (they were only open a few days a week and closed at 2pm), I suspected that the shop sold out often. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. Sadly, I don't get to the area often, but I will 100% be back asap to try more of the menu. Run- don't walk to pay a visit!
