Dinner for our weekend away first night was recommended by a friend to check out Lost Province Brewing. He told me they had great beer, and great food...that was no lie! My wife and I was were welcomed in by the hostess and seated quickly. It's not a huge space, but they've got a good bit of seating, and a little more upstairs, which allows you to look down into the brewery. Our server, Alex was very friendly and offered some beer recommendations based on our preference. They had a good variety to pick from and even some canned to go. Their food menu also offered a good selection. My wife and I decided to share an order of loaded fries to start, and then the "white buffalo" pizza. I enjoy white pizza, and enjoy buffalo chicken pizza...but this was the first time I've ever seen them together. The food was great, everything, tasted really good, and had good flavors. The Game Day IPA and Lost Province IPA's were both also very tasty Being a Friday night, they had a live musician, playing great music, which we really enjoyed while we ate and took in the atmosphere. After a really long day of going to vineyards we stopped at Lost Province for dinner. It was good but my husband and I both thought the menu had changed since the last time we were there. Being new to downtown Boone, NC, this was a great find on a rainy day. Found a close paid parking spot which was tough during a move in day at App State. We sat at the bar next to the Wood Fire Oven. We were amazed at the talent of the pizza chef, Rae as she fired up vegetables, wings, pretzels and of course pizza! Rae was very friendly and informative as we had so many questions about her craft. The line out the door should have been my first clue that this would be an experience. The food was really good but did take forever. It was the day after Thanksgiving so we knew anywhere would take a while. We were lucky and snagged 5 seats at the bar! We were lucky because it would have been over an hour wait if not. I can't believe I just visited here for the first time. After student orientation at App State, we got a wood fired pizza and a seasonal side of corn. Both really delicious. I like their beer and it was fun to finally go to the brewery/taproom. We had the absolute sweetest waiter! I am excited to return and try other things from the menu, some wonderful vegetarian options, and I love that seasonal menu, even though they were out of a few things on it. My only complaint, and I do mean only! is that the pizza came out not very hot. First time visiting Lost Province, had a positive experience. They were fairly busy but we didn't have too bad of a wait. Not much room inside for waiting and it was dang cold out so just kind of stood near the host station. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed but overall did a good job. All staff seemed friendly and helpful. Our food and drinks were very tasty. The vibe is upbeat and fun. The pretzel starter seemed to be made of seasoned pizza crust vs a traditional pretzel, it was a good texture and tasted great with the beer cheese and spicy mustard. I got the Lost Province Pizza and loved it. There was just enough country ham to add a "zing" without it being too salty or overpowering. It was a nice compliment to the apples and goat cheese. We made a quick stop here before hiking Elk Knob. The beer was tasty and our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun without being too loud. Our trip to Lost Province was used as a pre-dinner snack and beer stop to give us energy to power through the many local stores in Boone, so this was not our typical meal experience. Having been here before, we wanted to try something different, so we settled on the loaded fries. We both commented how the loaded fries were too salty and the beer cheese was rather bland. We made sure to toss the fries within the basket so that all of the fries could be coated in beer cheese, as the toppings were mainly on top and not layered throughout. The beer, however, was excellent. The Hipster Juice IPA was refreshing and the Cowboy Coffee blonde had a complex taste but a light finish. If I had to do it again, I would have also gotten the blonde (it was that good and unexpected) and we would've gotten the pretzel. We have a thing for grainy mustards, and after we sent back our food order we Googled the mustard and found out we'd like it The service wasn't really stellar, and our seating location on the small platform literally put us elevated for all to see. I know now I prefer the seating on the second level with the view of the pizza oven and brewing operations. We do really love this place, but it just didn't knock it out of the park this time. I've been to this location once before with a friend to try the wood fired pizza - which is fantastic - but tonight I was solo and sat at the bar. They have an open kitchen concept that could be an amazing experience (huge wood fire oven you can watch the cooks work, watch the pizza crust being tossed in the air, toppings added, and pies created) but sitting at the bar totally ruined that - trash all over the floor, employees throwing order tickets on the floor, rags and a towel under the prep sink, and worst of all - the over flowing trash cans with rubber gloves falling out. It was gross. The employee's had no respect for the open concept or keeping a clean cooking area. All the pieces to make the kitchen amazing (as it was obviously designed) are there, I just wish it was being used that way. Put away the clean dishes vs leaving them in those cleaning racks for everyone to look at, empty the trash, take some pride in the work. If it was treated like a sushi bar and glorified the way it can be, I'd give it 10 out of 5 stars! read more

Probably my favorite restaurant in Boone. The wood fired pretzel is always a good decision, the beer cheese is a must. Pizza and beer are fantastic here! They have wonderful options for the beer they brew. My favorite is Tyrannosaurus mex beer but they are always sold out. Kiss my grits is another favorite. Their pizza is always incredible, I highly recommend the Rosti if you like meat because they pile it on. The spiced apple drink is also a huge bonus if you like apple pie. The biggest negative was the service, it took over an hour to get our pizza and the waiter Matt was really bad at re filling our drinks. He would also come ask a question and then not wait for us to respond before walking away. Now they were busy so I give them some grace but it definitely could've been better. Came here for dinner last weekend with a group and we had a reservation and I was so glad that we came here. I went there before a few years ago. We started with some appetizers like the chicken wings, olives and pretzel with beer cheese. All the appetizers were delicious some of us had cocktails like the cranberry Moscow Mule, and it was delicious as well my friend and I for dinner split a pizza with black olives and a house salad. I had my salad with balsamic, and my friend had it with ranch. Both of us enjoyed the dressings and the assortment of toppings in the house salad such as the radishes. We didn't have dessert, but we saw another table order the cookie skillet and it looked so good. Hopefully we can come back soon to try that. Went here for pizza, just a craving. Let me tell you their stone fired pizzas are great as I looked around and most tables had some pizza as welll as other stuff. And for an establishment that serves food and alcohol, that is absolutely terrible. Service was also kind of off. Chairs were tipped over on the ground when we arrived. Food and beer were fine. But somehow the stench of the dirty mop water stayed with me more than anything else. Last night, I had a group of 30 who I truly believed had a reservation. Things did not get handled properly on my end, even though I believe they were. Unfortunately, it caused a lot of confusion and stress for the restaurant. For that, I truly apologize and did last night as well. The manager and staff accommodated us and honestly treated us much better than most restaurants would in that situation. The food was great and the staff helping were amazing. I couldn't not give a review since they treated us well so despite the fact that an error on our part (not the restaurant) caused chaos for them. Cute place in downtown, there's a small parking lot across the street for paid parking. The crowds were small so the service was very good, I didn't have to wait for my beer to hit bottom. My wife had the portobello burger and I had the regular burger, both were delicious. The porter I had was really good, although their cider option was lacking. I also tried the quad, but it was a big miss. Kudos for trying the rare style though. My complaint is when the bill came to see an 'inflation charge' at the bottom of the bill. I should have disputed it. How long has that been in place, especially since we had 10% inflation when some other guy was in office. Judging by the rainbow flag flying proudly, my bet the inflation charge was added recently. I'll choose another brewery next time I'm in the Boone area. Edit: despite the owner response, the extra charge was not taken off my bill because I didn't ask it to be. read more

Our server was a nice guy, and he tried, but it took over 30 minutes to even get water. The excuse? They ran out of water glasses!! It took another 20 minutes for him to finally come back and take our order. It took us almost a full 1.5 hours for our food to actually arrive. Most of their pizzas are waaaaaay too salty. A hint: if you are going to use a lot of salted meats, don't use a lot of pecorino cheese - it makes it almost inedible. (The Aloha y'all and Lost Province pizzas were good). My beet and arugula salad was finally served about 30minutes AFTER the pizzas were served - with undercooked beets and barely an apology. We came in with high hopes but we were sorely disappointed. Standard, solid brewery pick. I came here on a Saturday around 730pm and caught the end of some live music which was an unexpected bonus. I waited about 20 minutes for a seat since all of the bar seats were taken. The hostess indicated that I could order from the QR code but I wasn't able to figure it out before my table was ready (the link took me to the menu but did not have an order option anywhere...at least that I could find). My waitress was nice and took my order promptly. When in Boone, I had to try a moonshine drink so I went with the apple pie (or something similar) and I paired it with their wings. I really liked the drink and the wings weren't quite what I was expecting, but they were very tasty!
