Dinner for our weekend away first night was recommended by a friend to check out Lost Province Brewing. He told me they had great beer, and great food...that was no lie! My wife and I was were welcomed in by the hostess and seated quickly. It's not a huge space, but they've got a good bit of seating, and a little more upstairs, which allows you to look down into the brewery. Our server, Alex was very friendly and offered some beer recommendations based on our preference. They had a good variety to pick from and even some canned to go. Their food menu also offered a good selection. My wife and I decided to share an order of loaded fries to start, and then the "white buffalo" pizza. I enjoy white pizza, and enjoy buffalo chicken pizza...but this was the first time I've ever seen them together. The food was great, everything, tasted really good, and had good flavors. The Game Day IPA and Lost Province IPA's were both also very tasty Being a Friday night, they had a live musician, playing great music, which we really enjoyed while we ate and took in the atmosphere. Went there with the family after a hot thirsty day looking for a good watering hole and good food. Had promise with a nice selection of beer. We ordered simple starter items soup salad and wings. Kids had the pizza and the fish and chips. Both arrived quickly. Fish and chips were minuscule, serving only one small piece, so we ordered a second kids cheese pizza. Second pizza came out quick but was obviously undercooked, side of fries were soggy as a wet blanket and the pizza was covered in liquid (water?) that the kids quickly dismissed as inedible. Being new to downtown Boone, NC, this was a great find on a rainy day. Found a close paid parking spot which was tough during a move in day at App State. We sat at the bar next to the Wood Fire Oven. We were amazed at the talent of the pizza chef, Rae as she fired up vegetables, wings, pretzels and of course pizza! Rae was very friendly and informative as we had so many questions about her craft. The line out the door should have been my first clue that this would be an experience. The food was really good but did take forever. It was the day after Thanksgiving so we knew anywhere would take a while. We were lucky and snagged 5 seats at the bar! We were lucky because it would have been over an hour wait if not. I can't believe I just visited here for the first time. After student orientation at App State, we got a wood fired pizza and a seasonal side of corn. Both really delicious. I like their beer and it was fun to finally go to the brewery/taproom. We had the absolute sweetest waiter! I am excited to return and try other things from the menu, some wonderful vegetarian options, and I love that seasonal menu, even though they were out of a few things on it. My only complaint, and I do mean only! is that the pizza came out not very hot. Our trip to Lost Province was used as a pre-dinner snack and beer stop to give us energy to power through the many local stores in Boone, so this was not our typical meal experience. Having been here before, we wanted to try something different, so we settled on the loaded fries. We both commented how the loaded fries were too salty and the beer cheese was rather bland. We made sure to toss the fries within the basket so that all of the fries could be coated in beer cheese, as the toppings were mainly on top and not layered throughout. The beer, however, was excellent. The Hipster Juice IPA was refreshing and the Cowboy Coffee blonde had a complex taste but a light finish. If I had to do it again, I would have also gotten the blonde (it was that good and unexpected) and we would've gotten the pretzel. We have a thing for grainy mustards, and after we sent back our food order we Googled the mustard and found out we'd like it The service wasn't really stellar, and our seating location on the small platform literally put us elevated for all to see. I know now I prefer the seating on the second level with the view of the pizza oven and brewing operations. We do really love this place, but it just didn't knock it out of the park this time. We were on a road trip with no real plans or destination other than to get home eventually. Ended up in Boone one evening and found Lost Province. Probably the best craft beer I had on this trip was found here. We sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. If you get a chance to sit at the bar, I highly recommend it. Bartender (Brody) was very friendly and took good care of us. It's a college town so definitely a young crowd including the staff but they were all great. I had wings they bake in their oven and they were really good. Had a mango-habanero sauce I really liked. Not too sweet, not too hot. We also had a Margarita pizza that was excellent. I love wood fired oven pizza and this came out perfect. Lightly charred, very tasty crust and good sauce and cheese. They bake these things in about 2 minutes and the amount they make is very impressive. Sitting at the bar, you get to watch them bake the pizzas and it is very entertaining. I really want to move to Boone just so I can get a job baking pizza in this place . Seriously, if you find yourself in Boone, and it is a lovely mountain town, do not miss this place. read more

Pizza and beer are fantastic here! They have wonderful options for the beer they brew. My favorite is Tyrannosaurus mex beer but they are always sold out. Kiss my grits is another favorite. Their pizza is always incredible, I highly recommend the Rosti if you like meat because they pile it on. The spiced apple drink is also a huge bonus if you like apple pie. The biggest negative was the service, it took over an hour to get our pizza and the waiter Matt was really bad at re filling our drinks. He would also come ask a question and then not wait for us to respond before walking away. Now they were busy so I give them some grace but it definitely could've been better. We just left this place in complete shock and utter disappointment. Two kids and two adults. The adult's meals never arrived, which we watched at least four tables that came in after us get their food, eat, and leave. Our kids' meals came out incredibly fast but were so small that we literally had to order an additional kids meal for them to share (this has never happened to us, our kids eat normal kid quantities). The third kids meal arrived incredibly fast as well, which was off-putting since the adults were still waiting for our food. This kids meal was identical to one of the first (pizza and fries) and BOTH were extremely undercooked (soggy fries and pizza was not at all done!), so we sent the fries back and the brought decent fries out right away. And for an establishment that serves food and alcohol, that is absolutely terrible. Service was also kind of off. Came here for dinner last weekend with a group and we had a reservation and I was so glad that we came here. I went there before a few years ago. We started with some appetizers like the chicken wings, olives and pretzel with beer cheese. All the appetizers were delicious some of us had cocktails like the cranberry Moscow Mule, and it was delicious as well my friend and I for dinner split a pizza with black olives and a house salad. I had my salad with balsamic, and my friend had it with ranch. Both of us enjoyed the dressings and the assortment of toppings in the house salad such as the radishes. We didn't have dessert, but we saw another table order the cookie skillet and it looked so good. Hopefully we can come back soon to try that. It took another 20 minutes for him to finally come back and take our order. It took us almost a full 1.5 hours for our food to actually arrive. Most of their pizzas are waaaaaay too salty. A hint: if you are going to use a lot of salted meats, don't use a lot of pecorino cheese - it makes it almost inedible. (The Aloha y'all and Lost Province pizzas were good). My beet and arugula salad was finally served about 30minutes AFTER the pizzas were served - with undercooked beets and barely an apology. We came in with high hopes but we were sorely disappointed.
