Cute place in downtown, there's a small parking lot across the street for paid parking. The crowds were small so the service was very good, I didn't have to wait for my beer to hit bottom. My wife had the portobello burger and I had the regular burger, both were delicious. The porter I had was really good, although their cider option was lacking. I also tried the quad, but it was a big miss. Kudos for trying the rare style though. My complaint is when the bill came to see an 'inflation charge' at the bottom of the bill. I should have disputed it. How long has that been in place, especially since we had 10% inflation when some other guy was in office. Judging by the rainbow flag flying proudly, my bet the inflation charge was added recently. I'll choose another brewery next time I'm in the Boone area. Edit: despite the owner response, the extra charge was not taken off my bill because I didn't ask it to be. read more

Standard, solid brewery pick. I came here on a Saturday around 730pm and caught the end of some live music which was an unexpected bonus. I waited about 20 minutes for a seat since all of the bar seats were taken. The hostess indicated that I could order from the QR code but I wasn't able to figure it out before my table was ready (the link took me to the menu but did not have an order option anywhere...at least that I could find). My waitress was nice and took my order promptly. When in Boone, I had to try a moonshine drink so I went with the apple pie (or something similar) and I paired it with their wings. I really liked the drink and the wings weren't quite what I was expecting, but they were very tasty! Last night, I had a group of 30 who I truly believed had a reservation. Things did not get handled properly on my end, even though I believe they were. Unfortunately, it caused a lot of confusion and stress for the restaurant. For that, I truly apologize and did last night as well. The manager and staff accommodated us and honestly treated us much better than most restaurants would in that situation. The food was great and the staff helping were amazing. I couldn't not give a review since they treated us well so despite the fact that an error on our part (not the restaurant) caused chaos for them. I've been here twice now (2019 and 2023) and tried to dine in back in 2022, but couldn't due to a staffing snafu. It's always a disorganized mess inside. We waited on a rainy Sunday morning to get in right when it opened, I had my mother (who is in her mid 70s and has mobility issues) with me. We watched others arrive after us and cut in to the front of the line. When I said something to them, they refused to get behind us. But yeah, New Yorkers are the rude ones? I don't think so, nothing like some good ole MAGA Southern passive aggressive behavior.... Once we got in the door, right at opening, we stood around for another 5-7 minutes waiting to be seated. It's like this place is run by high school kids or something. Efficiency is lacking for sure. After we were seated, our waiter was pretty good. The appetizer pretzel we ordered was tasty. I ordered a wood fired pizza, which I liked. My husband's fried fish was a good size portion and he gave it 8/10. My mom had a salad, it looked appealing. Ours had 3 different type mushrooms with caramelized onions & fresh mozzarella. Also had pepperoni with fresh mozzarella & San marzano tomatoes. You think Boone is a college town so you expect a brewery to feel like a frat house with your typical bar food. Well, you're in for a surprise at Lost Province! For one, the food is outstanding. The hush puppies were one of the best I've had. So light and airy and not greasy! You must have it with their pimiento cheese. It comes hot in this cute little mini cast iron pan. Also had their beet salad and their wood-fired cheese pizza. Nice chew to the crust and love the flavor from the wood flame. The beer selections were, of course, vast and the server knew exactly what to recommend based on your want. The place had a chill vibe without the college kids hangout feel. I've been to this location once before with a friend to try the wood fired pizza - which is fantastic - but tonight I was solo and sat at the bar. They have an open kitchen concept that could be an amazing experience (huge wood fire oven you can watch the cooks work, watch the pizza crust being tossed in the air, toppings added, and pies created) but sitting at the bar totally ruined that - trash all over the floor, employees throwing order tickets on the floor, rags and a towel under the prep sink, and worst of all - the over flowing trash cans with rubber gloves falling out. It was gross. The employee's had no respect for the open concept or keeping a clean cooking area. All the pieces to make the kitchen amazing (as it was obviously designed) are there, I just wish it was being used that way. Put away the clean dishes vs leaving them in those cleaning racks for everyone to look at, empty the trash, take some pride in the work. If it was treated like a sushi bar and glorified the way it can be, I'd give it 10 out of 5 stars! read more

In an old brick building on the corner, this spot has a large bar, ample seating, a large woodfire pizza oven, and a large patio. We'd recommend heading out back to the patio for mountain views!  For you beer lovers, you'll really enjoy their wide variety of brews like The Great Pumpkin Ale, a light malted ale filled with fall spices, yet drinkable. John really loved the sweet, slightly hopped and light Bless Your Heart Blonde Ale. On our flight, we sampled: Awww Puddin, a banana pudding ale, light and refreshing with some banana flavor and sweet, the tangy and tart Up Schitt's Creek fruited sour, a robust and toasted London Porter, and an earthy herbaceous blackberry sour, Word to the Wise.   Don't only go for some suds, you must stay for their wonderful food like the favorite dish of the night, Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich that is crispy yet juicy chicken in a sweet apricot and spicy jalapeño glaze on fresh bread. It is topped with spicy pickled jalapeños, cool slaw, and a tasty aioli! John opted for the Wood fired pizza. It is Napoleon style with very fresh mozzarella and fresh tossed dough, tangy sauce, and spicy pepperoni! He was happy!   For our starters we got the Apple burrata salad that is creamy cool burrata atop a bed of poached apple, sweet, toasty pecans, earthy greens, raisins, and a sweet maple vinaigrette. After hiking at Linville Gorge & Falls, we went on up to Boone for food afterwards and chose Lost Province Brewing primarily for their beer menu. Good choice! We ordered a couple flights and were really impressed with their beers overall. The standouts were a summer blueberry-lemon wheat beer (Booneberry Surprise), the Feel the Wheat Hefeweizen and a very nice stout called May the Schwartz Be with You. Bar service was good. The ambience is mostly nice (see final comment below though) -- a funky multi-level space (both indoor and out). Because they were so busy, we sat on the upper patio where you order food by QR code (via Toast). Easy to order and they do bring it to you. The food service was not as good as the bar service -- they didn't bring tableware and when they told us where to get it (downstairs), there were no clean utensils. The food was good though. We had the Bubba pizza, which is unusual because it is topped with jalapenos and onions that are both pickled, along with pimento cheese and bacon. The pizza was good (nice crust, too). We also had an order of fish and chips. The serving of fish was very nice -- thick with a mild flavor. The beer battered coating was a little strange, but it grew on me. The side of fries was okay (just barely warm when they arrived). As an additional side, they include bread and butter pickles, pickled onions and pickled green beans (all were very good -- I've never had green beans that way before). One thing struck me as very strange though. If you go to the restrooms, you literally walk right next to where the food is coming up for the servers to grab. Not only does that result in a traffic jam with the servers, but it struck me as maybe not the most hygienic layout. I assume their local Health Dept. is aware of this and is okay with it, but it seems odd. Given the tight fit with the brewing equipment and a large wood pizza oven, maybe the layout just ended up this way, but I'd have to think this could be fixed without a huge effort. The bartender was very sloth like , moving at a slow pace even though she was "backed up". Only one bartender for the whole restaurant was a bit odd especially for a holiday weekend and the manager did not seem to be around or helping (not sure if the bartender is the manager as well) but deff things I look for when I dine at restaurants as I use to be in the industry and would hop behind to help any of my staff members that were behind ... outside of that everything was great. read more

Fortunately, this time the wait was only a few mins to get a seat (Sun night). Hipster Juice IPA ($6) turned out to be a great choice. My bride ordered the Sweet Beet ($17) and thought it was a little heavy on cheese (that wasn't fully melted). When I could not get into another resturant my hotel front desk person reccommanded this place for pizza ad it was Wonderful. I had the "Tree Hugger" pizza, very good. They had a band playing so that was fun while I waited for my pizza. I sat at the bar and had a glass of wine and watched them make pizzas. This place is so hit or miss. Sometimes everything is great, others it's a total disaster. The last time we came it was a party of 7 and we were told an hour wait. I would of left, but others wanted to wait so we walked around for a while and got a text about 30min in that we were next. We returned and then started waiting and waiting and waiting. We could see sooooo many empty table and yet new people were being told 1.5 hours some were told 2 hours meanwhile half the restaurant is empty. Everytime you go to the hostess stand there would be a new person there. Finally they told us a high top that had been empty for a while was being cleaned for us. We would see staff go up to the table and take away ONE cup. Then 5 min later someone else would come and clean off two plates. Like absolutely no sense or urgency at all. I could have cleared the table off myself in a couple of minutes. Someone in our party ends up talking to the manager who blames it on shift change or something. Sorry this had been going on for a long time and the same people just keep walking past it not doing anything. We finally did get sat and the food was good. The food is usually good and the service is usually pretty good. You just don't know what you're going to get when you arrive. They must lose soooo much money telling people 1-2 hour wait times in a half empty restaurant. The table for 2 behind us was empty during the whole time we were there. Myself and at least 4 other patrons have asked for the panthers game to be on any of the TVs and we have now all asked at least twice, some have asked more. Cocktails are a good strength. Food is really yummy. We had the pretzel and hush puppies. The pretzel was soft and yummy. The hush puppies were great - not dry at all. For dinner we had the Mac and cheese skillet (added ham and mushrooms) and a white pizza with olives and artichokes. Both were awesome. The pizza was extremely flavorful and a great size for one.
