Brought our 14U softball team for the boat tour and the girls enjoyed it. 45 minutes was just the right amount of time between the trail and boat tour. Able to fit 34 people between two boats. The entire staff is friendly and professional. Well worth the price. Time permitting, butterfly garden is nice to see as well and it is free. read more

I have been to several meetings in the River Birch Room, and really like the layout, the decor and ambience. It is well furnished and quiet, with great views to the park surrounding it. The parking for this meeting room is close enough, with a short distance to travel, taking you between the Nature Explore Classroom and the mining flume which makes it a relaxing and interesting walk. Found this place to be well worth the money. The grounds all around the cave are very nice and scenic. The gift shop is very good if you like that type of thing. We did the boat tour first and although it isn't lengthy, it still was quite interesting and a good value. After the boat ride, we did a couple of the trails and also went to the butterfly house. Again, another thing well worth seeing. I did not try the zip line, but it looks like it's really good and I will do it next time. Highly recommend this stop and I think you will like it too! read more

We were able to experience the newly installed zip lines today. The atmosphere was awesome with Chad and Avery were our guides. Chad kept us entertained with nonstop comedy, while Avery inspired us with his sweet dance moves. Avery could rival Napelion Dynamite with his skills. My group of 4 had a fabulous time at the Flying Squirrel ZipLine at Lost River Cave yesterday! Heather and Mason were outstanding, making sure we were not only safe, but totally comfortable with our gear and the procedure. Every phase was efficient although we never felt rushed as everyone seemed dedicated to ensuring we enjoyed the experience. My dogs and I love going hiking here! It's an easy and relaxing trail and we have a great time!

This place was fun and cool to see. The ride is pretty short and you don't go very far back into the cave. Jessica was our guide and was funny and did a great job. The life jackets that the kids wear are kind of gross and dirty but other than that and the length of the trip, I think it was a fun experience and worth doing. read more

We were lucky enough to take the short but amazing boat tour with a graduate student who was studying geology. He was as knowledgeable, if not more so, than any National Park Interpretive Ranger I've ever met. The boat tour is fun -- and a really unique way to see the cave. While this boat tour was fairly short, the tour guides did an excellent job of packing a significant amount of history and geology into the tour. Also, viewing the cave by boat allowed a unique opportunity to really sit back and view the cave. My biggest complaint is that too many people seemed to be packed onto a single boat at a time which made the boat ride somewhat uncomfortable and caused the boat to feel tipsy. We took our three girls and my mother (74) on a trip to Nashville and stopped here on the way down. We had a marvelous time - and this is consistently what they all name as the best part of the fall break trip. The boat tour is wonderfully done. The guides are charming and informative, and we all loved it. You can walk paths when you're done and see various things in the woods around it, including a butterfly habitat. We loved our tour and if I lived in the immediate area, I'd sign up for a membership. Great for all ages. read more

Lost River Cave was the perfect place to spend half a day in Bowling Green. We were scheduled to do the boat cave tour but unfortunately it was cancelled due to high water levels. We were able to do the Historic Cave tour which was interesting but we were bummed not to get to go inside the cave. It is a beautiful area and very well maintained. We also did the Flying Squirrel Zip Line and for beginners it was fantastic! The workers were very calming and understanding for a first timer and made me feel safe and secure. I would highly recommend this as a stop!! read more

Having just moved to the area, this was one of those places everyone said we had to check out. We walked some of the trails and took the boat tour. It was a nice day out, but not at all as impressive as I expected. We had done the wild cave tour (crawing on your belly and walking through tight spots in a cave for 6 hours) a few months ago at Mommoth Cave and expceted more from a cave in the same area. Overall this was a nice quick touristy attraction. The cave is pretty, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost for a 15min "tour" which consists of riding into the cave several hundred feet and floating right back out. the cave is too new to have many pretty features also, so it's just a cave. I give the local people credit for cleaning up what used to be a trash pit and turning it into something worth while. the walking trails are mostly rock and are a pretty little walk, nothing too strenuous, and the butterfly habitat is a cute touch. Our tour guide was nice, but not too knowledgable. She knew the history and basic information but not much else. This is a nice place to take people visiting the area if they want a quick outdoorsy activity, but it's not overly imressive or fantastic. I'd go again just to keep the place open and from becoming a trash dump again, but other than that the trails might be nice to walk if I'm bored, but I'll never do the cave tour again. Altough it is really neat that the place used to be a nightclub and you can have a wedding or other event there. i think I would definetly consider doing that. Yes, it was a shortish tour. Yes it was a bit pricey. But it was a nice tour and a nice way to support the park. Short walk, pretty easy for the average person. I could have stayed on the boat a half day...it was so peaceful, serene, and nicely cool on the first hottest day of the year. My five year old loved the butterfly habitat. Just a really nice little stop. Only thing I didn't like was they don't take advance reservations. We came up last year and tried to make the last tour, but it was already sold out. (should clarify that you can reserve in person the day of, but not by phone or online.). If you could book in advance, I'd give it a 5! read more

This was an excellent excursion! My husband and I were attracted to this cave versus other ones because of the ability to navigate by boat. Other cave tours have you walking long and sometimes difficult areas. Ask for Linda, she was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor which made the experience all the better. There was laughter and smiles to go around! read more

CALL AHEAD! If you are traveling any length of time to come see this cave, make sure to call ahead to ensure it is open. The day we drove to visit, rains from the previous week were still flooding the cave and it was closed for boat tours. We did walk to the mouth of the cave and it looked like it would be fun! read more

The three of us did the "Cave Crawl". I haven't seen a specific review for this tour yet, so wanted to make sure I relayed our experiences. The cave itself is located just off a main street in Bowling Green, near liquor stores, banks and gas stations. Don't expect this to be in the wilderness. There are some hiking trails and trees along the river. We saw one of the 'white squirrels' hiking down to the river. There is ample parking, including room for RVs. The gift shop was kind of kitschy, but an interesting place for our tour to start. We did this adventure in November just after a storm blew through. It was quite cold outside (maybe 40 degrees). Inside the cave, it was a comfortable 57 degrees. Even though we wanted multiple layers outside the cave, inside the cave a single layer was fine. They provided our group with gloves and knee pads. They were cold and wet from previous tours, but were very helpful and highly recommended. I am not sure if they provide these items for every tour. Helmets and lights are also provided and essential. The guides were great, knowledgeable and fun. One was in the front of the group and another in the back. We visited about three rooms in the cave with short walks/crawls in between. We had the opportunity to explore the rooms to see the rocks and critters. We saw one bat (sleeping) and one salamander (crawling away) along with lots of cave crickets. READ the materials you get with the tour, they are accurate. YOU WILL GET MUDDY AND WET. I spent the first 40% of the tour trying to keep clean, but the last crawl is only about 24" high for about 100 feet. You can not stay on your feet, you have use your forearms/elbows and kick with your legs to move along. The ground is a very thick clay type of mud and there are muddy pools of water every 10-20 feet. Just go with it and crawl through them. Bring a COMPLETE change of clothes. Like the materials say, socks and underwear too. Otherwise, you will be very uncomfortable going home. They do have bathrooms near the cave where you can store extra clothes and change afterwards. Lastly, it is unlikely that yo Overall, a great trip. Would have been better with a hot shower or at least a warmer place to change clothes at the end. Much more fun and exciting than the boat tour. read more

The guys found this place. I think they expected white water rapids - they were disappointed. This would be an ok kid place - the cave tour would be pretty neat for children, but for adults it's just so-so. The river isn't natural, it's dammed; and the overall tour is short. This is one place I take most visitors to BG. The butterfly pavilion and trails are free, and well kept up. It was an easy 2 mile hike, and the blue holes are beautiful. We spent a lot of time at the gift shop; one of the nicest I've seen in town yet. We couldn't do the boat tour that day, but there was enough to do otherwise. Although not a long tour, it is a good one. The staff and guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Kids will like it. Interesting history of the area. Is a great tour for a hot summer day. The cave would be a great place for a reception or other event. Zipline is available as well which is also great for the kids. read more
