We decided to try this cave tour simply because it was a boat tour. It says it's 45min but it actually is ONLY 25min. Our ticket was for 12pm. The guy came started talking to us on the porch in front of the gift shop at exactly 12pm. He was asking where we were from and gather us up to walk us down to the entrance of the cave. Then he told us about the history of the cave while we waited for the last tour to return. The underground river tour is so very short it was really not worth the money or time. The tour guides on the other hand were very informative, friendly, professional and very funny. They did a FANTASTIC job. The gift shop too was very nice. I just wouldn't make a long out of state drive for it. Not worth it. read more

Have you ever dreamed of boating through a 1930 night club, probably not. How about exploring a Jessie James hide away, sounds cool right? Well how about getting married underground. This may seem far fetched but it's not at the Lost River Cave & Valley. Our family enjoyed the boat ride tour and decades of stories of The Lost River Cave. The guide was excellent and safety is paramount with life vest. The water portion of the tour is around 30 minutes. A few highlights of the cave. The Underground Night Club opening was heralded in Billboard Magazine in 1933. Big bands and big names played in the cave until the 1960's. In 1868 Jessie James and his gang held up in the cave after robbing the Southern Bank of Russellville, Ky. The story was confirmed by a local physician who treated Jessie James for an unknown injury. There are many stories of the centuries old cave that are shared. Zip lining was later added after my tour. Events such as weddings are booked in warmer weather months.,Prior to departing visit their gift store at the entrance. Overall a fun family visit that all ages will enjoy. read more

I feel that everyone should experience this tour at least once, and would make it 100x better if Alex is your tour guide. I'll start by saying we weren't able to actually do the river tour. The weather did not allow for it, which was a little disappointing, but we decided to make the best of it still. My sister and I just did the walking portion, which on its own, was still decent. Our tour guide answered all of our questions and later showed us old artifacts from the past found around the area, such as old bullets and combs. We were able to learn the natural and human history of the area as well as other tidbits of information. I can't say it wouldn't have been nice to actually see the river, but the walking tour itself made up for that somewhat and I would go again in the future to at least try to see the cave from the river. read more

What a fun tour! I've been in caves, but never a river cave under the city. They have several walking trails and a butterfly garden that you can explore before or after the tour. The tour itself was interesting and full of history. Glad we made the drive from Louisville to check this place out! read more

Pleasant day for a stroll down the river inside of a cave. Great scenery all around and pleasant air conditioning while shopping in the gift shop. Bring your water bottle, free refill at the water system inside near the restrooms. Great tour guides, worth a visit. We loved the butterfly garden. Watch your step though, they do land on the walkway. read more

We did the zip line for adults and the boat tour. We had a lot of fun, the guides were all great and had high spirits and made bad jokes the whole time (in a good way). The zip lines - there are three - are a good height and length. You can get some good speed on the second one and that was also my favorite. I wish there were maybe two more lines in this setup but you can always do it twice. The boat tour was nice. The best part is going in at the wishing rock (it's name being one of those bad but good jokes). It's a short tour but that's ok. The inside of the cave is very interesting. The grounds and trails were amazing. Overall a magical place. read more

Was in town for a wedding and looking for something fun to do. This definitely hit the spot! The cave is absolutely gorgeous and it is such a fun experience. We walked the trails at the end of the tour and I was a little disappointed the butterfly exhibit was closed. Maybe they will get it back up and running soon. Overall, great experience! read more

This is not a handicap friendly attraction! We arrived on time but weren't able to walk fast enough with my elderly Father-in-law to make it work. We decided to wait for the next tour so he could take his time walking down to where we had to meet the tour guide. The cave boat ride is very short as the tour is mostly walking to the cave itself (but they don't tell you that). The hiking/walking trails are nice enough but there is nothing much to see. This is fine for kids but not really an entertaining adult attraction, as they do have a playground, very small zip line, and some playful gem mining for a cost. The gift shop was probably the best thing about the trip. They have some nice items for souvenirs or gifts. read more

what a random and fun little activity in bowling green! If you happen to be in the area with some free time to kill, worth popping in. we did the cave boat tour ($22 for adult). lots of interesting history plus a 25 minute tour through a cave (so cool temp-wise in there!!! beat the summer heat!) they also have walking trails but we didnt venture along the path. read more

Loved out tour guide! Wonderful sense of humor, which made the tour that much better. I brought along my 7 year old who hasn't found his adventurous side yet, therefore he was a bit frightened of the boat tour, but with the help of other tourists, and the tour guide, we managed to keep him on board. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the cave and the venue was beautiful but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you only do your reception at the cave, NOT BOTH. They give you absolutely ZERO time for both events and the cave's wedding event coordinator DOES NOT advise on timing well. They also state they provide helpers to setup and break down, but (1) worker stood there watching as our family setup and break down. They run tours right up until a half an hour before your allowed to start your ceremony which was explained to us, but the management failed providing advice due to the size of our wedding. They need to significantly improve on advising bride and grooms with regards to planning and timing. Our wedding ended up being beautiful, but there was A LOT of guidance that should have been explained by the caves wedding event coordinator. Highly recommend reception, NOT CEREMONY AND RECEPTION ESPECIALLY IF WEDDING IS LARGER THAN (75). read more

This was an amazing experience after we traveled to the location twice. The first time, their last ride was canceled due to weather even after I called from 20 minutes out. We were very disappointed and received two dollar off coupons for the next time. I didn't want to go through the same hassle, but my husband talked me into trying again on a early, sunny day. The experience was 100 percent worth it!! Very cool and exciting ride, and the cave is beautiful as well. Just make sure the weather is permitting. I'd give a 5 if it wasn't for the my first experience. read more

Lost River Cave’s historic underground boat tour is a great eco-adventure for all ages. Come enjoy our hiking trails, activities, and charming gift shop located just an hour north of Nashville in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Open all year. The Friends of the Lost River is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Friends and Lost River Cave and Valley are committed to environmental education, community building, and natural resource preservation. The organization was founded in 1990 and has remained as one of the strongest nonprofit groups in Bowling Green, Ky. The 70 acre park has been visited by travelers from over the world, who come to experience Kentucky's only underground boat tour and marvel at the vast amount of nature in the middle of the city. The park has been recognized in many national publications and is ever growing.

Some things to note, the boat has plenty of space but because of its shape, I would suggest leaving bags in the car you might not need. Apple Maps took us to a funny spot but to find the right dock, you enter on the campsite side. If you don't see the orange boats you're probably on the other side. We also opted for the hookah option which was a fun addition! Our host gave us several options for flavors which was kind.

The food was so good that my father-in-law (very picky eater) said it was the best chicken/steak. There's something special and calming about cooking on the boat while being on the beautiful river. After almost a week, we are still talking about how fun that was. This will for sure be our go-to activity when we have visitors out of town. Thank you taking such a good care of us. Out ranger was super personable and seemed to love his job so that's nice. Glad we decided to drop by and check it out on our way back from Chattanooga.

I recommend it if you are staying inside the Gaylord Opryland Resort!

We had to walk up stairs and across the bridge to a greenish elevator and take it down to the lower level and walk around the buildings (where the restrooms were) to get to the correct area where the boat was located. The instructions say arrive about 20 minutes early & I recommend that you arrive 20-35 minutes early, especially if you are directionally challenged or a slower walker. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

Prices to get in the amusement/water park are $44.99 plus tax for anyone over 48" but there are a few offers that can get you in cheaper. I strongly suggest using a discount, as this park is not worth the full price. You are allowed to bring one water bottle per person and you should because there are limited areas of shade. The two star review is because of the following: First, like many of the prior reviews have stated, the rides are old, unkept, and rickety. A few are even dangerous. The Wild Mouse gave me a bruised leg and sore neck. The main attraction for thrill seekers is the Kentucky Rambler, which was closed when we were there. There were other rides closed too. Second, most of the snack huts were closed. The lines at the opened concessions were long and moved slow. Of course food is overpriced too. I would recommend bringing your lunch/snacks in a cooler and going outside the park for eating. They allow you to go and come with a stamp. There are shaded picnic tables outside the park if you bring your lunch. You can't bring coolers of food inside. Third, the park is overrun with tweens and teens. Ages 12 and up are allowed in without an adult. My 9 year old son rode the bumper cars and got bumped really hard by a unsupervised teenager. I was worried he may have gotten whiplash. Fourth, our experience with the staff was pleasant and the only reason we gave 2 stars instead of 1 star. The staff enforced the rules and took their jobs seriously. Many of them joked around with my son. In conclusion, if you are an area tween or teen with a season pass, this park may be worthwhile. If you have kiddos under 5 years old, there are a number of kiddie rides that are safe enough. The water park also has a nice little kids section. The free parking and free sunscreen is a plus. If you arrive when they open, lines for rides aren't long, especially on weekdays. Again, if you pay full price for your tickets and don't bring your own food, you will probably be disappointed. However, if you pack food and get a discount, you may be able to enjoy yourself if you fancy low budget fair rides. I recommend Holiday World, about an hour from Beech Bend, it's well worth the drive. Holiday World is clean and the rides are safe. If you go to Holiday World in May, your tickets would be cheaper than Beech Bend.

The surrounding neighborhoods have lovely homes and friendly people. All of the facilities that I have visited at this state park have always felt clean and nice. I could easily recommend this park to anyone. It is way out in the country off of the highway, but it is well worth it for a relaxing weekend in the sun!

Great little campground not too far from Mammoth Cave national park. They have electric and…read moreprimitive camp sites. The campground is not that big, with one bathhouse and a playground. There is a dump station with 2 sites. The reservation check in has ice and fire wood, but it's hit or miss if someone is there to help you. We never even officially checked in because no one was there. We stayed on electric site #2 and it was perfectly shaded and quiet. The sites are nice and level with large spaces for games, hammocks, dogs, etc. Just outside the campground is the beach, park office and lake access for boats. The beach is small, but maintained well. We went on a 95+ degree day and the lake water felt like bath water, it was so warm. The lake was busy with a lots of boats and lots of beach goers. The park is pretty small, it mostly encompasses the lake, and there is not much around there. It take 40 min to get to the interstate and close to an hour to reach Mammoth Cave.
