I totally enjoyed my visit to The Seedlings U pick flower farm for a Farm to Jar class. The drive…read morefrom Indianapolis was easy and the farm is about 10 minutes off of 69's exit for Sample rd. right before you get to Bloomington. When I arrived to the farm the first thing that I did was cover myself in bug spray and I didn't have any issues the entire hour and a half. Laura the owner greeted me instantly and introduced herself and how she got started with her business while we waited for everyone to arrive. We begun the class at a picnic table setup with a beautiful floral arrangement, sheers for cutting flowers, water because it was hot, 1 large, and 1 small mason jar. We were told the large jar was for ourselves and the small jar was for a friend:) Laura guided us through the rows of flowers telling us how much to pick and how to determine what was ready to pick. We picked the flowers in groups of three or five and all of the arrangements looked beautiful. I would definitely recommend checking out the farm any morning or evening to pick some fresh cut flowers when available, joining a class, or booking flower arrangements for your next event.

After a drive outside of town, we found the farm easily with Google maps, but overshot the drive. As we turned around we could see some of the flower fields and we're so excited... Walking up to the main building, where the sweet owner, Laura, and her family live, she mentioned the sunflowers were over the hill. As we walked the short distance we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the sea of sunnies! They were gorgeous and so tall. At least five different types that we counted while wandering through the forest and cutting blooms to take home. We also enjoyed the zinnias and other blooms to walk through and pick. The flowers are beautiful, but so is the story and spirit of the owner. Take some time to chat with her and you will be uplifted! Our blooms lasted well over a week and we will be back. The five year old with us loved every minute of it, but I think the adults enjoyed it more. Oh, we also got to walk by the cows, goats, and sheep for some extra entertainment. If you can't make it out to the farm for an event, she makes appearances in her Seedlings truck around town at markets and special events. We even saw her in front of Switchyard brewery recently!

Not being able to get food, a table, a drink, or get on a hayride just isn't fun. Today we decided to try our luck at a new spot, Sunny Acres Farm. Sunny Acres took us roughly 30 minutes to drive to. Parking was close, easy, and free. Adult tickets are $10. My children (four and under) were free. Sunny Acres has a small storefront with pumpkins, baked goods, salsas, candy apples, etc. They have various vendors lined up on the short walk to the pumpkin patch. Vendors include artists, kettle corn, and other refreshments. Admission includes access to the petting zoo, bouncy house, pick your own flowers, hayride, corn hole, live music, corn maze, games, and playground. My son rode a pony for $2. The lines were either nonexistent or short. The employees (or perhaps owners?) were friendly, accommodating, and provided a family feel that other similar businesses lack. We ate a meal while we were there. We had hamburgers and hot dogs. I know they also had chili behind the storefront and various other food trucks, including ice cream and adult beverages (cocktails and craft beer). I can't think of anything Sunny Acres lacks. I'm actually afraid of word getting out and having to share this experience with too many people. But, this family farm is worth patronizing.

Hubert's winery is a hidden gem in Indiana! They cafe the food was amazing and the farmers market amazing There were only TWO things that WAS NOT so great! IT IS THEIR CHEESE AND ICE CREAM FACTORY!. I use to take my daughter there for the horseback riding and the petting zoo ! 15 plus years ago ONE OF HER FAVORITES WAS WALKING OVER TO THEIR CHEESE AND ICE CREAM FACTORY IT HAS CHANGED UNFORTUNATELY She loved watching through a glass window and see them making cheese and ice cream! That was one of her favorites their ice cream back then had more taste the ice cream they THEY HAVE NOW you can't taste any flavor in the ice cream ITS SO BLAND i bought the homemade peach ice cream it tasted like plain vanilla ice cream NO PEACH TASTE what so ever I swapped it out for salted Carmel I could not taste the salted Carmel at all I might as well just ordered vanilla. They also had more flavors back then! The quality of their ice cream has gone way down VERY LITTLE CHEESE SELECTION not a big fan of that change ! They need to bring back the cheese factory where we could see through the glass ! and MAKE THEIR ICE CREAM WITH FLAVOR I WOULD STILL GIVE IT 10 plus if I could!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE BRI ask for her when you if ever go and have a tasting!!! SHE IS AMAZING!!!

We were really impressed by the amount of strawberries today & got some blueberries too! The prices per pound were posted where you purchase your ticket to ride. There is a wonderful market with fresh picked produce, jams, fresh baked goods, fudge, seasonings, etc as well to grab some goodies. Today there was live music, which was great to listen to while eating a burger from the food truck and a flatbread ordered from inside. Other things we'll have to try on our next visit are the homemade ice cream and a wine tasting.
