Also, the parking can be challenging when it is busy. That is something to keep in mind if you have someone in your party who has limited mobility or is disabled. It can be a bit of a hike, depending on where you have to park. Pros: That said, it is a fun experience if you take it for what it is (a commercial tourist farm). We like to go in the fall, take the kids, and grab a few photo opportunities with the fun displays. We've also done peach and apple picking, which is a fun experience, and not something you run across every day. We typically steer clear of the pumpkins and items we can get at a better price elsewhere, and get just a few treats that are unique to Huber's. Also, the little dairy shop sells some wonderful cheeses and ice cream. It's a nice treat to end the trip. We love Huber's and enjoy bringing friends and out of town family here to enjoy a good time and a few local treats.

It is gone to several festive harvest decorations and goods such as pumpkins, pumpkin flavored goodies, apple cider, wine, and snacks such as home made fudge and cookies. The main thing purchased here in the autumn months I assume would be it is where you go to weigh and purchase the pumpkin you pick out from Huber's pumpkin patch. Runs around 60 cents a pound. You hope of the wagon ride and walk into the market where they will weigh it in front of you. On my most recent trip my 3 oldest girls made it a competition of who can get the heaviest pumpkin (and high dads wallet the most). My second oldest finished first with a whopping 23lb pumpkin, the oldest had a 20lb pumpkin and the 3rd born a 17lb pumpkin. So they all did really well and enjoyed the final results of the weigh in process as much as they did picking out the pumpkins. Overall pretty neat place. Obviously very touristy and seasonally aimed so a lot of the goods are gonna be higher end priced. But it's still a fun and tasty place to visit.

EVERY TUESDAY (MAY 8TH - OCTOBER 30TH) 3:00 TO 6:30 PM (for the 2012 season). Check the website for more info in the coming spring. This past Tuesday I loaded up on the last of the season's heirloom tomatoes (or tomAhtoes, whichever you prefer) as well as some fresh greens and pumpkins of course. Between this farmer's market and Bardstown's on Saturdays I can find literally anything I will be needing- seasonally speaking. This market features live music (usually performing after 4pm even though they open earlier) of a local artist. The last time I went there was a FREE CHILI COOKOFF tasting. SEVEN chili vendors from local restaurants on Market St. It was delectable. Picture curiously sampling warm, reddish brown saucy goodness by the spoonful (seconds were also free) with some free ice water and bright yellow, moist jalepeno cornbread to cleanse the palate between chili's. I have spoken to at least three farmer's at this market as well as an awesome bread baker. She has ultimately the best bread I've sampled of late (and I'm a huge fan of bakeries, just not their calories) due to her unique flavors. I've tried the Hot Chocolate Jalepeno Zucchini bread, the Cranberry Cantelope, and this week's- Blueberry Lemon with sweet icing on top. The best part about this market is the LOCATION and the TIME (Tuesday's are uber productive for me now that I can do this in tandem with mass that evening when the weekend get's too hectic). Parking is in the same lot as the market which puts this one ahead of the rest in regards to availability. Prices are average for a local market- four bell peppers to a pound and $3 for a pound; $1.50 for a pound of locally grown apples (VERY inexpensive considering the crop year that we had due to a late frost in the spring); and SMOOTHIES for $4 made will all local ingredients (minus the strawberries at this time of year). Didn't see that one coming did you? Yes- I enjoyed a watermelon, cucumber, peppermint smoothie (NO ICE- the watermelon was pureed and frozen so it wasn't diluted)- just add gin... I mean, whipped cream? By Sweet and Savory (soon to be food truck in February). Overall, I have tried this market twice and plan to return. The farmers are nice (and cute if you're into that kind of produces his own food thing ;-) ), the food is quality, affordable, parking is excellent, and music is usually strumming. I will be sad when October ends.

This market is awesome…read more Not only do you have several farm vendors to get your produce, eggs, meat, cheese, honey, etc., but they offer several excellent options for prepared lunches. Dreamcatcher Farm has a great burger ($5) and quiche and I'm enamored with their tomato pie, which only seems to show up some of the time. Kassidy's Kackle House offers $4 sandwiches with freshly (and locally) made chicken salad or egg salad (among others). This week a Texas-style tamale stand showed up. And Cake Flour is always there with their breads and sweets. Plus, you can get your soaps and flowers and baked goods, canned goods, if that's your thing. I think the market has acquired enough of a following that the number of vendors is only going to improve. It's great to have access to fresh, locally grown food in the downtown area. And to have another good & affordable lunch option. Runs mid-May through October.

I thought I had a great relationship with the Garden Gate family. Over the last few years... Dale has been selling conventional fruit as organic fruit et veggies from the Amish. Charging big prices for conventional fruit. The apples and other fruit is obvious gmo with apeel. I bought two expensive fruit baskets for my two mothers... and they provided me with two baskets that didn't have the items I purchased... I bought the baskets for the banana bread loaf and other high quality items. I was disappointed when I picked up the Fruit Baskets on Mother's day??? I lovingly mentioned to Dale... I bought these baskets for the banana bread and other high end items... which they didn't have included. Dales, reply? Get over it... You'll be fine? He replaced the Bread with two small blue berry muffins? I didn't buy a basket with banana's, muffins or grapes... Dale wasn't even gracious and offer to replace these items. He told me to give over it? And, laughed at me... My mother's don't care for banana's, grapes, or muffins... the basket's I ordered didn't have these items in them??? What the heck? So, if you frequent Dales market (Breckenridge Lane, Lou, Ky)... organic fruits starts with a #9 on the fruit and veggies... the water melons aren't ready until the middle of the summer... I bought 1/4 of a watermelon from Dale... cost me $8 and wasn't ripe at all. The apples started with a #3... this means conventionally grown with pesticides. Bugs, birds, rodents, etc.. won't eat conventionally grown fruits or veggies. When you order a basket... take the order and compare it to the order you bought... it says what's included in each basket. I'm not shopping there anymore... Buyer beware.

It runs from July through September and is part of a program that gives refugees agricultural opportunities in Kentucky. Super awesome! I went here for the first time this morning and was surprised and impressed at the variety of food. Lots of different types of tomatoes, squash, greens, onions, potatoes and more. Heads up: it's all veggies, so it's not a one stop shop. My favorite thing: since this market features vegetables from just one farmer, I didn't have the price/produce quality comparison that happens at other markets where I end up buying potatoes from one vendor and greens from another. Nope, all my purchases went to support one farmer and it was a nice relief not to have to pick through all the stands selling tomatoes to figure out which one to buy from. All of her food is locally grown (her farm is somewhere off of 264) and chemical-free, yay! Oh also, I hadn't seen purple tomatillos at any other markets recently and they were recommended by everyone hanging around so I grabbed several for a salsa. I love seeing out of the ordinary crops, so I couldn't resist. Plus, I'm a sucker for a recommendation.

I have attended this Farmers market and found they have a great selection of produce, but there are less vendors then Deer Park.
