We arrived just as they were opening and they couldn't have been any sweeter. The woman behind the counter explained the courses to us, chatted about where we were from, where she came from, and made us feel very welcomed. The course itself is cute, unique, clean, innovative - just some words I can use to describe it. They take you up to the top of the mountain in an old train - on the way, u go through a tunnel where animatronic figures are moving and talking. They have 2, 18 hole courses - a gold course and a diamond course. The gold course is more challenging. Every "green" was spotless, no rips, tears, bald spots, etc. The hole cups looked brand new - shiny without any dents or rust spots. They have a few holes that are surprise holes and if you get a hole in 1 on those holes, u get a free game. They also have a mining station where the kiddos can mine for gold. We always go here and have been going for over 8 years. We love it. The price has increased but so has everything. It's good clean fun. No riff raff. No booze. No smoking. It's family clean fun and we absolutely love this place. They have random holes that if you get a hole in one you get a free game but you don't know which hole, so you can't CHEAT! We had an awesome time playing Putt-Putt Golf here. It was just four of us; two kids (9 & 10), two adults (old and older). There were a few other families on the course as we played. We all seemed to be moving at the same speed, so we never really bumped into each other, nor did we ever feel rushed. The course is very neat and has signs along the way about Professor Hacker's expedition. The story line kind of adds another level of fun to the course. You are brought to the start of the course via a train, which is also fun. Once at the start, there are two routes you can take. The "Golden" path (Par 42) and the "Diamond" path (Par 41). Each path is 18 holes. The whole course is handi-capable if anyone in your party is limited in motion. Places with stairs have alternate routes for ramps. They do have ice cream for $3 each. No food though. All and all, we had a blast and really enjoyed the experience. The course was very nice; the greens were all maintained and didn't have rips or freys. The staff were very nice. When we entered there were two ladies, then when we left there were three gentleman; everyone there was very courteous. read more

Staff was super friendly and helpful. My grandma is 80 and has a lot of issues walking, and can't do ledges or stairs. The diamond course was completely accessible with her walker and the course was just long enough to not be too much walking. If you are looking for a course that is a bit more difficult (for the average person), I'd recommend the gold course. This is one of 3 or 4 mini golf courses in the greater Myrtle Beach area with the name of Professor Hacker's and each have a different theme. This course has two 18 hole courses called Gold and Diamond. Adult cost is $13 and they have their own free parking lot. After paying you either climb some stairs to the first hole for both courses OR you can take the train to them! Take the train for an unusual mini golf experience. It's free and entertaining as it climbs the mountain led by an engineer. I played the Diamond course and enjoyed it. The course is well maintained and in good shape. The holes are fun and not too hard. All of the putting surfaces were clean but at night can be difficult to read only because of the lighting which is normal. This golf course is very well maintained and has a fun story line. There are terrific photo opportunities, and a lot of great details throughout the courses - I suspect we would notice even more if we played again! The location features a train ride which passes through a tunnel containing elaborate scenes, goes through some of the course, then drops you at the start/top of the courses. It's a terrific way to start your game! There's also an underground ball return at both of the 18th holes, which is a great way to end your game! Par is indicated by bricks at the start of each hole, which we thought was very fancy as well as useful. The location also has a "penny squishing" machine with an imprint for the course and ice cream treats at a reasonable price. I highly recommend playing both the diamond and gold courses. Check local coupon books, and even the wall/window of the payment booth, for ways to save a couple bucks and/or get a free gift. The greens were new and old boards looked like they had been replaced. Areas that needed painting or stain had been taken care of. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It was the off season and not too busy, but there were still many people coming on a Saturday afternoon enjoying this mini golf course. Great mini golf course. Open the latest on a Monday in the off season, which was huge for us searching for a spot to play before my sons bedtime. Both courses have a beautiful setting. Greens are in great shape. There are some really fun holes but overall I wish there were more interestingly designed holes with creative obstacles. Our family returned to play today. We played the Diamond course this time as opposed to the Gold course last time. It was equally as fun and challenging. There was one par 3 and the rest were par 2. There is a 5 player per party limit. It does have a lot of uneven terrain, so keep that in mind if you are unsteady. It was a fun day for all! read more

This is really fun! I checked reviews for mini golf as we wanted the full North Myrtle Beach experience. I saw this but was still nervous. Honestly the most fun I've had playing mini golf. I was nervous as it was crowded when we arrived (2pm on a Wednesday). However, the train was an ingenuous way to slow down traffic. Honestly that train ride was themed better than some rides at Disney. Quite unexpected. This is not a challenging course, but that meant it was great for my six year old. The adults had fun too, with all the theming. Great attention to details, the whole course was kept up well (no trash, everything was painted, lots of trash cans). Last year I visited a mini golf place that I thought we be hard to top, but nope, this place is now my fave! We had a coupon from their website that saved us $1 per person. 2 adults, a 5 year old, 3 year old and 2 year old played today. They have plastic putters for those under 5 if you want them to be free, if they want a club its $7. Adults and kids 5 and up are $11. The golfing experience starts with a short train ride up to the top and you play your way down and around. It's so cute, I loved it...and the kids too, of course! It took us about 90 min, we did get stuck behind another family, but not bad. They have 2 courses, diamond and gold. We played gold today, but we're re going back to MB in a few weeks and I think we'll go back and play the other course. Very fun yet challenging course in north Myrtle beach. The train ride to start off the trip was a hit! When you disembark the train at the top of the "mountain" you have 2 different choices of mini golf to pick from. We stayed to the left side and worked our way down and around. Most holes are a par 3 with a few par 2s and par 4s worked in as well. The greens were in above average shape compared to most other mini golf courses that I've been to. She kept questioning our sons age (he's a big 3 year old), kept trying to tell us we couldn't golf as a family, and rudely informed us we would need to step aside every time another group came up behind us. Myrtle Beach is the self-proclaimed "mini golf capital of the world". A drive down I-17 it's easy to understand why. One of those courses that you will pass is Professor Hacker's lost treasure golf. This is one of those standard theme type courses with big landscapes and lots of eye-catching set pieces. This course has two separate 18-hole offerings. The diamond course tends to be the easier of the two and is more family friendly. While the gold was said to be a little bit more challenging. The fun family gimmick of this course is the option to take stairs to the elevated first hole, or a passenger train up the side of the golf course passing many of the holes, on your way to the first hole. I wouldn't say either course is very challenging to some professional mini golf players such as myself and my family, however we still had fun. The cost was $10 per person per course with an optional six dollar fee to cover the second round if we chose to play the alternate course. The 18th hole on both courses swallows your ball to ensure you don't skip and play the other course for free, however there were no employees really paying attention to this in the off season, or they didn't seem to care. If you have morals and ethics, let the front office know that you got a hole in one and there are random holes that will award you a free round. In our family, we tend to like the difficult gimmicky holes that make it challenging and fun with the imagination to make the hole interesting. For the most part, these holes were straight ahead with minor obstacles that took the fun and difficulty out of the equation. At the end of the day, we had a great time with our families fun tournament for spring break. There are still other courses we want to check out but this was satisfactory! read more

While visiting my friends in the Myrtle Beach area I was quite stunned with how many mini golf courses there are in the area. I was very excited to play a few rounds, and consulted Yelp to see which ones were the best rated. The general consensus seemed to be that the Professor Hacker's courses were the best in the area - and I definitely have to agree with that consensus! You're presented with two different choices for course - Gold and Diamond, and we were advised that Gold was the "better" of the two. After playing both, I felt that both were really fun courses, but I think that Diamond was a slightly easier course. So if you are with younger children, or are looking for something a tad easier, try Diamond. Both courses are similar in that they start on the top of the "mountain" and you gradually work yourself down. In that respect, if you have very small children, or elderly people, you definitely want to be careful. A perk for the little ones, though, is that there is a small "train" that you can board, which weaves around the "mountain" and takes you to the top. If you'd rather not, there's a set of stairs you can take to go to the top, skipping the train. In terms of quality, there are a lot of cool water features, and the courses are really well taken care of. I've been to courses where things are torn up and just not well kept, but this is most definitely NOT one of those places. Things to note: - If you opt to do the second course after your first, you get a discount. - If anyone gets a hole in one in your party, show your score card to a staff member at the end. Each day there is a "secret" hole, and if you got a hole in one there, you get a free game. (this didn't seem to be advertised anywhere on the property, but I saw it on their website). - Everywhere in the Myrtle Beach area are coupon books, pick one up and you'll probably find a coupon to this place for at least a dollar off (does not apply if you're going to play in the evening) - If you don't feel like waiting for the train, there is a set of stairs to the right of the ticket counter where you can just walk to the top of the "mountain". read more

This is a fun course! The train ride which brings you through the course and drops you off at the hilltop is cute and fun for any age! The two courses (Gold and Diamond) are challenging and fun. The employees are super friendly and we always buy an ice cream when we are done. We've gone back several times because the employees are friendly and encourage us to come back.
