I saw a fellow Yelp Elite check in here recently, and it just spurred me to stop really quick and give this excellent mini-golf course a shoutout for all the fun it has provided my family and I over decades of beach trips. I don't have any recent pics, but can tell you this is a great course to play, especially if you are doing some shopping or dining in the area. It hosted our family's annual "Sunset invitational" each year (possibly without knowing it), but bragging rights for winning at mini-golf last for an entire year, and excuse you from doing dishes for the rest of the trip. Reason's we love it: - Balanced challenge, a few holes that present a good hole in one opportunity, with some that are totally luck based, and some that require quite a bit of skill. - Well maintained. The greens are smooth, the decorations well kept, no dangerous areas when walking around. - Play "all-day" price for the young kids that want to practice all day in the heat before the tournament but still lose to me. - Friendly staff that have made an impression on several of us So many fond memories here. This course has an all-day play from 10:30-6:30, but the one-time price isn't bad either, all things considered. My kids and I came on a Saturday evening in June. Hot and humid, but not unbearable. The holes are not exactly easy, but something your kids will be able to play and enjoy. You can even take a break in the middle of the game and feed the Koi and other fish in the pond. Be sure you have a quarter for that. read more

There are tons of mini golf places in the area, and this is definitely one of the gems. It may not look as flashy as some of the others from the road, but it is a beautiful, well maintained course. There are some very fun holes winding their way around a pond full of fish, along with an artificial river and a few waterfalls. Everything is a par 2, and our group had great fun trying for hole in ones (by the end, each of us had gotten at least one). All in all, very fun place, would recommend! read more

There are many Putt-Putts in the area but this is a true nostalgic classic! Tropical Adventure mini golf is a great way to spend an hour or two meandering around the beautiful course that's filled with unique holes and well maintained grounds. There's a large pond filled with turtles and fish to enjoy as well as feed. Every hole has a sitting area and has shade from umbrellas. Just a note you can pay for one round or for a few bucks more you can pay to play all day. Just pay attention to that so you don't make assumptions and get your feathers all ruffled like some other reviews have stated. Also if you have a little one in a stroller this course can be navigated but it's got some tricky spots that you'll need to pick up the stroller but overall you could get a stroller through it. read more

Cute little spot for mini-golf! If you're looking for a good course for kids this one is great! All the holes are fairly easy but we still had a great time :) just make sure you look at the wooden boundaries for the hole number! There aren't signs and we got a little mixed up along the way, but it all worked out! At one of the holes there is a little fish food dispenser, bring some quarters! $8 for going around once and only $10 to play all day, which is a good deal imo. Had a great time with my brother and girlfriend, with a place that doesn't have the same cookie cutter holes as everywhere else we've seen. A lot of variety and scenery to take in. Also a place where you can feed all the koi fish and turtles was a fun time as well. Really good place if you're looking to take the family or friends to play some putput. I do wish there was more shaded areas especially in the hot sun. read more

The golf course was great, but I was a bit disappointed with the older gentleman that was giving the guests putters and golf balls. He asked us RUDELY to let the group behind us to pass. We were a group of 5 with two children. However, the group behind us was kind enough to let us continue. The incident really ruined the experience for me. Nice course, not so nice man working front. Didn't explain their pricing of one round vs all day. Wife thought we got all day so when we went to go one more round, the man yelled where do you think you are going. Drove 45 minutes to play a nicer course, with 5 kids, and there was only 4 other people at the entire. No thanks I will not be coming back. read more

We took our 3 year old here for his first round of mini golf, and he loved it! They have "toddler clubs" which were perfect for him! They have a fun, well maintained course! It was not nearly as crowded (or as expensive) as some of the big Myrtle beach courses! It's been a while since I have played, and I was expecting more of a struggle, so the course must be an easy one, but for us it was perfect! Tropical Adventure is a very nice traditional mini-golf course. There are 18 classic holes that put the emphasis on good putting and not just luck and randomness. The property is reasonably well maintained, especially considering its age. Greens are in good condition with only a few minor scuffs and tears.The landscaping is also well kept and modest. The pathways are easy to walk, provide good footing, and feature some beautiful stone work. There is only one hole that requires a lot of steps. The course is not terribly difficult (all par 2s) and there are many opportunities for holes in one, though we didn't get any. There are several photo spots along the way with some of the classic mini golf decor. The sea captain at the start and the alligator a few holes in are the best spots. The animals and statues do not feature into golf play, though. The gentleman running the clubhouse is a retired Marine and very friendly. It was not busy during our fall visit, but we saw him dutifully cleaning up some of the grounds while we played. He also was helpful to get our picture with the sea captain! If you're in the Cherry Grove or Little River areas, it's worth your time to take the short trip up into North Carolina to Tropical Adventure for some great throwback mini-golf! read more

Clean, homey mini golf place that was so fun and great for the kids-- easy to get a few holes-in-one which encourages kids to play. Nice landscaping and stone work, friendly gentlemen at the front. Super reasonable prices- $8/ all day, $7/ game after 6 pm. About $3 less than nearby Myrtle and more low key. read more

Not too flashy but it is wonderful little course and we enjoy it every trip to the beach.

Great putt putt course! Very clean and in great shape! Owner is very friendly as well! My fiancé and I ended in a tie and he wouldn't let us leave until the tie was broken! So much fun! Even if I did choke and lose! Ahh! Will definitely be back! read more

I have been playing mini golf here since I was 8...I'm now 40! We just spent our annual vacation at Sunset Beach and had great times at Tropical Adventure Mini Golf in Calabash. My dad achieved a 36 on our last game...what fun! I keep a pencil and score card in my glove compartment all year round as a reminder that I will be back and good times are ahead. read more

Cold and windy in Holden Beach so looked up Mini-Golf. This place came up with good reviews...so we checked it out. The putting surface was new, well maintained, and great for the whole family. A family tradition, and great little course. Friendly attendants, and reasonably well-kept course. Be sure to take a quarter or two if you have young kids - there's a "gumball machine" style fish food dispenser in the middle of the course to feed the fish in the water under a bridge. Most convenient course if in Calabash for dinner, and generally beats the North Myrtle courses. read more

We had the best time here! I've been to a lot of dumpy mini golfs over the years, and didn't expect much from this one, but it was fantastic! It's off-season, so one, it's great that they stay open. The one course on Ocean Isle does not open after Labor Day. Then there was no one else here and the guy was probably thinking it was about time to go home when the 8 of us showed up, but he was super friendly and happy to see us. The course is perfectly maintained. Great landscaping, nice animals, lighthouse, palm trees, water, bridges, a big big hill and some fish! The final hole is "hole in one for free game." And we had 2 people tie, so the guy handed them each a ball and told them to have a "closest to the pin" contest. Well worth the price, I think it was $7." Not overly challenging for young ones, but challenging enough to engage older players. Very nice. read more
