I came in a few weeks ago and Flo at the counter was amazing! I stayed for nearly 3 hours just talking her ear off. She answered every one of my many many questions regarding scent and fragrance and was so well versed in the world of smell! I learned so much in my time there, and it inspired me to start reading about scent. They have a large collection of HUNDREDS of scents behind the counter, with probably thousands of different combinations. Flo was very gracious in letting me try all the combinations that interested me, and together we figured out how my skin in particular warms up different scents. I look forward to my next visit. On vacation a few years ago I commented on how much I liked her perfume which was - you see where this is going, right? - perfume oil from Lotions and Potions. This store is really amazing! There are already tons of products to select from and then adding the option to customize the smells of your product is unique and exciting. The customer service was outstanding as well. I was personally helped by an employee named Shahar and her patience, understanding, and positive attitude was very memorable and appreciated! I only wish there was an option for leaving a monetary tip for Shahar's great service that day. read more

I do not need any more sStuff! I am actively donating, throwing away, selling Stuff! Oh, but they have such cool Stuff!!!! I was eating, drinking, strolling along Mill Ave and popped in here. There is sooooo much Stuff that there is no way you will see it all. It is overload. Your eyes flit around and just kind of land on different things. My eyes landed on the jewelry. Lots of really cute unique necklaces. They also have Alex and Ani. Lots of unique earrings too. There are greeting cards, signs for inside the house - you know the metal ones and the wood ones with sayings. They also had magnets with sayings and that's what I bought. I figured in the big scheme of Stuff at least it is flat, doesn't take up much room and doesnt have to be dusted ;-) Next time I'm on Mill I will def stop in again and see what i didnt see last time! read more

LOVE this shop! Located right on Mill, this is a great spot to shop for cute little gifts. They have all sorts of cutesy cards, coasters, wine glasses, jewelry, Arizona souvenirs, and even some aromatherapy soaps and bath/shower bombs. They also make their own scented lotions and oils- hence the name "Lotions and potions." I used their Vitamin E and Jojoba oil blended into a lotion during my last pregnancy and it really worked to precent stretch marks! If you're looking for a cute, thoughtful bday, shower, or just-because gift, this place is great! They're staff are all also super helpful and friendly. read more

A great little place to buy a gift...especially if it's for a mother-in-law or your own madre who likes little bottles of lotion or unusual odds and ends, jewelry or things of that nature. What first caught my eye was the card section. It's large and diverse - something for everyone for every occasion. From inspiration quotes on the front to silly photographs, I would definitely hit up this store if I needed to buy a unique card. While I wandered around, I didn't really see anything I (or any of my friends) would like, but I did have the one overwhelming thought, "This is for mothers." Lotions galore. Burts bees, too. Shiny jewelry. T-shirts. Even a little area for lovers with haven't quite gotten to Rated R (more like PG-17). All in all, a fun store. I had a good time looking around and found myself taking mental notes of reasons I could return. All of which included buying a gift for somebody else. As for the service, it was not-so-good. I was one of three patrons in the store - even in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. And just as I thought, "Wow, guady t-shirt!," the sales clerk poked her head around the cash register and asked, "You still doing okay over there, sweetie?" What can I say other than I love love love this shop- always can find a unique little something for myself other than the fragrance oils I always buy and lotion. This store will satisfy if you need a gift for somebody or for yourself with such a wide selection. The lotion is the best I have ever used and I go back several times a year to have my bottle refilled (yes bring in your empty bottle and they will give you a discount) There is not any other lotion that makes my skin feel hydrated and look so good - for the last 30+ years. This is a great local boutique with a vast array of interesting items. I always find a great gift here. I particularly love the in house line of body care which you can add your own scent too. They have a huge amount of fragrance and essential oils. They also sell several different candle lines and many different body care lines. There is also a section with products for "lovers." The location is great. Bonus--it's locally owned and operated and has been around since 1969. It should be a Tempe institution. I love the variety of products they sell. It's a nice place, don't get me wrong. They have a good selection, with a wide supply of different candles, fragrances, oils, cards, etc. It's not a bad place to buy a little gift for someone. They do have (what I thought was) a kind of cool thing where you can choose fragrances to mix into a custom lotion/perfume/etc. I had a lotion mixed for my roommate, and even though there were three different scents in there, it barely smelled like anything. So that was pretty disappointing. Can't say anything about the custom perfume or other custom products. Overall, it was OK, but I wasn't "wow'd" or anything. read more

I never do this. I never leave reviews. But because of the outstanding service and unbelievable knowledge from the owner I felt compelled to leave a review. I recently suffered from a very bad outbreak of shingles and only wanted a natural way to heal this. I sent out the help from the owner Sharon. She made it very clear that she was not giving me medical advice but I can tell you the help she gave me was the best help I could have ever had. I am absolutely convinced that without her knowledge and her taking the time to talk with me, I would still be suffering today. Her knowledge on what oils to use was absolutely spot-on. Between the essential oils and the CBD oil, my pain and suffering was diminished almost immediately and the rash started to heal on contact. I want to know what CHAOS smells like. This is what I said to the lady at the counter. They had a board outside that said that they had a scent called Chaos and I was curious. The person was nice enough and got me a little test strip with the scent on it. CHAOS smells like taking a shower in stardust apparently. I'd passed this place a few times going up and down mill but never really stopped in. They have a wide selection of incense, soaps, perfumes, lotions, and small gifts. I don't often spend a lot of money on these things, but it's a neat little shop. I think that CHAOS might be my new scent. :) read more

I was in Tempe for a business related meeting. I decided to take a walk one evening and stumbled upon this great little boutique. I found gifts for my family and discovered Alex and Ani bracelets. Alex and Ani products are sustainably made in America and the company is socially and environmentally conscious. What's not to like?!?! Plus their stuff is super cute. I was enchanted by many of the bracelets but only bought two. Weeks later, I was wishing I had bought a couple more, so I called and the sales person was so nice! She took a picture of the bracelets they had that were like the ones I had remembered, and texted it to me. Because I could see exactly what I wanted in the pic, I decided to purchase two more over the phone. She took my payment info and shipped them right away. I went into this store to buy some lotion and oils that I have been buying from them for years - I mean since they first were introduced to me in the alley in metro center. My mother owned a store there and we started with the store there - Dennis bought this store in Tempe and ran it with his then wife. From what I have heard he no longer has anything to do with this store only her. Anyway my whole family has used this store for our lotion, scented oils and soap for years. My favorites - Natures Scent and Moon Flowers have been my favs and my mothers since our first time in the alley. Well I buy this lotion - paid $22 for the lotion. Then I also got two of the fragrance oils and left. When I got home and opened the lotion to put some on it smelled sooo bad nothing like Nature Scent ever smelled. I literally had to wash it off - my other half told me I smelled bad with it on. So I took it and the fragrance oil in that scent with receipt back to store next day. The girl told me there was nothing they would do as all sales are final with the lotion and custom fragrances. Then I asked for a manager who she called on phone only to be told this crap again. I only wanted her to fix the smell and she even admitted the lotion smelled off - I just wanted another bottle - ONE THAT DOESNT REEK. But was told the best she could do was offer to sell my another fragrance that I could add to the lotion I had and she would give me 15% off. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS SO BUYER BE VERY WARE. They can sell you any old stink and there is not a thing you can do. To Lotions and Potions - whoever owns you now - I will not ever shop there again and my family wont either - they were as appalled as me. And with your policies I am sure you are going to lose more than us!! read more

I wonder why i have not written a review for this place yet. I enjoy going here cause i love their incense collection and love their perfumes. My bf loves their dragons blood incense and buys a bunch, which theyre cheap too. I love rose scents so i get it in rose. They also have risque stuff such as candy gstrings and kama sutra body oils. Last time we went, i decided to make my own rollerball perfume oil (yes, you can make your own and pay for the size of the bottle you want it in, or choose a "designer" fragrance which is the common brand name perfumes that are sold at places like sephora or ulta in the stores own oil formulation, while "everyday" oils are typical scents like rose or other good aromas, and you can make your own custom perfume with them) i made mine a sexy smelling rose and jasmine. Its a bit strong but i dont need much and cause of that i think itd last a while. read more
