This location doesn't live up to the standards of the Val Vista and southern location. Today when I entered the store, I was greeted by two employees, one female with burnt orange hair, heavy set, and a heavyset man with an expressionless face. The employees ultimately were the reason for the two star rating and why I will avoid that location. I am a frequent flyer at clothes selling stores like Plato's Closet. My first time at Name Brand Exchange was over a year ago but I keep returning because this location is a hot spot for great finds. I always have success with selling my used clothes. Do I always get top dollar for my items? No, but any amount is better than sitting in your closet not getting used. I almost always see new stuff that I like when I visit too. They buy and sell daily so they're always getting new items. I think shoes are the biggest sell and buy because of how many they have and I know I personally get the most cash for shoes. I have even bought items from Name Brand Exchange and sold them back to them. The store is pretty well organized. Most items are by size so it's easy to find what you are looking for. I like the incense and hair clips the little items they have for sale by the registers. Overall I recommend Name Brand Exchange to anyone with nice clothes wanting to make some extra cash if anyone looking for good deals on nice used stuff. I know I will be back! read more

Went in today with high brand* (Nike & Michael Kors) shirts and a barely worn pair of shoes and expected it to be quick and easy. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience and I would not recommend reselling here. After I filled out the form and gave my ID, I waited for about 10 minutes, giving the benefit of the doubt that they needed to scan it or had a routine. The employees had spent a lot of time carrying conversations back and forth until I finally asked the employee Gabriel for my ID back. I had to ask a few times since he tended to respond with "huh" after I asked twice. I got my ID back and noticed that after the next new sellers Kendall came up and greeted them with a clipboard and paperwork with a more productive approach than compared to mine. She got to scanning their paperwork and IDs and immediately gave back their IDs compared to my long wait. After waiting for about an hour, I was told I could be paid out $8. I had called earlier and asked an associate how much could be estimated and I was told 40%, which seems to have been misinformation as well. I arrived about 30 minutes after the store opened so it wasn't busy and I was able to browse the full selection and I found this cool off white sweater and a belt that ive been wanting for a long time. they also have this crazy ferrari puma bag i think im gonna cop today when i go back in . I love this cute little store they have some really good deals on their sidewalk sales, often they have three dollar deals. I usually go here to sell my clothes, this last time I was able to sell and get a good amount of change back, they pay well. Make sure that you call ahead of time though because my wait time was two hours long but I just left my clothes there and did some other errands and came back. They have other gently used clothing inside, some make up products, shoes, and other items for sale as well that are new. The staff is nice and friendly. read more

Do not take your nice items to the store. I have brought in Kate Spade bag with new tags, Brahmin bag, that retails starting at over $400. puma, tennis shoes, and another quantity of some very quality items none of which they wanted. It's an insult to injury. Name Brand just needs to have more smiling employees! :) They have good music playing so the attitude at all times should be reflect also in employees. Dre & Christine (? - I think) are soo friendly & just inviting. As far as the clothes there, they need to urgently be out with the old & bring in the new. Prices aren't bad but they have competition with Buffalo Exchange & Rag-o-Rama (good spots to shop for unique pieces). These two other resale shops do Dollar days & they need to jump on that band wagon. They do have $3 racks and stuff outside but that should all be $1 really. As far as reselling, they'll buy good, decent stuff here no matter the brand as long as its in good condition & payout around 40%. They take a range of stuff & always pay out cash, unlike Platos (in Scottsdale at least) who only do store credit most of the time. read more

Very friendly employees! I took in about 50 items to sell including shoes, and they bought about 30! The process did take about 30 minutes due to the vast amount of people that kept coming in to sell. The store itself seemed to be a bit crowded and all the racks are fairly full with different brands and items. This place is definitely way better with customer service then the Val vista one!!!!! read more

Took a bunch of items in yesterday, curious what they might offer. My friend and I both put some things together.. We all know that we can make more online selling name brand items, but that takes time and patience. I was going shopping for a new person anyway., MY signature and ID was used on ppl they make you sign ahead of time. After waiting in the store for over an hour, shopping, they were "close to a quote," I took a step outside to have a cigarette. The employee allowed my friends to make the Final say and decision without me present in the building at all!. He did run back-and-forth a couple times to see what a new offer might be if they took items away or what not. But I was not aware that they would allow him to make a final say until It came from my mouth. Once I did see the items they chose and realized that it was a $60 store credit offer, I said no and she told me that it had already been processed. Panicking a bit,. I Inquired why I was not present for the final say, and she referenced 30 minutes prior when you and I were discussing the possibility of using store credit if you're going to take the deal My friend started getting angry due to her attitude & complete unwillingness to do anything about this because the contract was MINE. Unfortunate he did start to raise his voice at which point I IMMEDIATELY got him to calm him down and she quickly tried to kick us both out. I looked at her and told her that I was not the one yelling and replied "well then HE needs to go" . At this point I requested to speak to a manager because I realize no solution would become of this with her. Instead of allowing me to speak to a customer via telephone, She went to the back of the store and called the manager on her own to say whatever she wanted about all of this. Upon return, she rudely told me to take all of my stuff and in front of a handful of other customers told me I was never allowed to return. As I grabbed my things I told her that I was sorry and I hoped that her day would get better. Condescendingly and sarcastically she responded "I hope you have a better day" "SUPER BUMMED! I've been shopping here FOREVER, I bought my first pair of docs here years and years ago & recommend the store to everyone. I was treated unfairly & feel I was punished for others mistakes... I would even l still purchased a few items in my basket. I really hope there is something that can be done to make this right. I did absolutely nothing to be banned from the store. Had I s**t on customers like that when I worked in a clothing store, I would have been fired right away. My 17year old niece visited me a couple of months back and as we were on an eating-around-the-world tour and hitting the Hidori Korean restaurant, we saw this unique looking thrift store. It's filled with amazing goodies, and you can trust me on that because I'm not usually a huge fan of resell shops. We started with the 3$ sidewalk sales selections and found a shirt and an adorable dress for my niece! When we went in, the selections got considerably more expensive but, they were probably still worth it, just more than I was looking to spend that day. When I was a younger girl, I would tag along with my sisters to go to Name Brand, and it was sooooo cool. Either it has changed or I have.. I went to Name Brand this weekend and it was really unimpressive. Most of the "name brands" here were Old Navy or Mossimo. It seems like they are not very selective based on the overcrowded racks and shelves. The staff is young and hip and totally daft. They just kind of flick around not helping people and looking at themselves in the mirror... So pass on Name Brand, there are quite a few superior consignment shops in the Phoenix area, with a lot less attitude and weird smell. Cute, cheapo sunglasses though. read more

I have been going to name brand for about 5 years. I find good work clothes for cheap. No more! It has consistently gone down hill. The staff there always have a "better than" attitude toward me. Maybe it's just me I don't know. And they always seem understaffed and super slow. I was in line today for 45 min, then just left. People were there waiting over an hour for trade/ buys. I would rather just donate to goodwill then to get $4 store/ $2.50 cash for a bunch of good clothes. Tips to owner: get quicker staff who don't seem half baked and train your staff on customer service. Also there is no reason you should have to wait for trade/ buys, then go have to wait in line to get cashed out. This makes no sense. read more

Ive bought and sold clothes here for years. The ladies behind the counter are always nice, and helpful. The racks are a little cramped, but theyre stocked w/ some great stuff. New and gently used shoes, a great selection of purses, and lots of kitchy jewelry. As far as what they buy, theyre "less exclusive" than say Buffalo Exchange. So if you have something thats in really good condition chances are theyll take it. Ya never know, and it never hurts to bring something in. read more

I really enjoyed the wide selection of stuff to choose from, and found that it was not only hip, but hit the spot for work and home. I go to Name Brand occasionally to see what they have, mostly in the way of sneakers, and I've made several purchases here. The store is neat and organized, and the clothing is generally good quality-however the customer service leaves much to be desired. Any interactions I have with the employees are short and they generally seem annoyed and tired. They seem understaffed on the busiest evenings, but even when business is slow, checkout takes 20 minutes. As far as selling goes, they're clear up front about the items they're taking, and they only want good quality items, which is understandable. This was my first and only experience there: I took in two large bags full of clothes. Acknowledging the name of the place, I only presented name brands (Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein, Hudson Jeans, etc), all purchased within the last two years and all barely worn. I had plenty of time to peruse the store which smelled strongly of talcum powder, and I quickly realized that "Name Brand Exchange" is anything but. It was like reuniting with the trashiest corners of my high school closet ten years ago. It's no surprise they barely wanted anything, and what little they did take was the worst of the bunch. The girls who work here never stop condescending to customers, but they should put their nasty attitudes to rest, as they clearly lack any knowledge of what a name brand is or what people wear in this decade. Their shoes, clothes, etc are things you would find in a 1/2 price ben have the time. When they buy they cheat you like you never been cheated before. I took a Patricia Nash briefcase to their Mesa on Dobson I got $5.00 for it. No spots, no rips no nothing -- they don't offer it back unless you demand it back. This is one of my favorite 2nd hand shops. They give you money on the spot for your unwanted clothing, shoes, jewelry and purses. Their purchasing system is smart. They have about 5 stations so that several people can layout their items at a time. This makes things go a lot quicker. They almost always purchase from me and I get an average of $2 per item. Not too bad. As far as purchasing from them, I find a lot of cute, affordable jewelry. They also have a large selection of shoes. This store is ok. I like that they have new VS panties that match bras they currently have in stores. Bonus that they are super cheap. The clothes are definitely geared towards teens, and most of it isn't in that great of shape. Kind of a bummer when you do find something you like, you can tell the person who previously owned it put it through the drier rather than line drying it. They have a lot of high end brands listed on their website, but its rare to see any of that stuff in there. Expect to find things from Aeropostale, target, H & M, etc. For an adult this place is probably great if you just need some disposable clothes for an event/vacation since it is so cheap, but as far as finding nice things to stock your wardrobe with, you would be better off shopping clearance racks at the mall. read more
