For dinner I had the poke bowl which was great though a bit on the small side, even by Maui standards. I paired this with the Fortaleza Still Strength Chartreuse Swizzle ($40): Green Chartreuse, Fortaleza Still Strength tequila, Maul Gold pineapple, Maul falernum, lime, served with custom pineapple cocktail pick. The cocktail pick was fun as you get to "choose your own weapon" and select a custom pick. Dominic was running the bar both nights and he was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, and he poured a mean Chartreuse swizzle. While he was making the Swizzle he served me a shot of their "Rum Cannonball" which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution.
