Can't say enough positiveness about the poolside grub KAPA Bar & Grill served me in my ocean cabana @ Marriott over my holiday. I'd start my morning with the slice fresh fruit platter and FYI the papaya was fresh & delicious. Also I enjoyed coconut prawns which were flavorful and was accompanied by 2 tasty sauces. However the cheeseburger & fries were simply a winner. Fresh Maui beef slaughtered & grill to my enjoyment. OMG the bun wasn't one of those Costco buns it was a Brioche bun and yes it enhanced the flavors beyond what a burger should taste like. It's a FRANK B THUMBS Up award for outstanding burgers. We stayed at the Wailea beach resort and came here for lunch. The view is superb and having lunch with the ocean view is fantastic. The server was greeted us warmly and took us to the table with the view. The menu has a great variety of choices. The special of the day/catch of the day is mahi mahi. I ordered the mahi mahi taco with chips and salsa. My boyfriend ordered the mahi filet sandwich with a side salad. For dessert, we had the chocolate Haupia pie. Solid lunch spot on the Wailea strip. We always go a few times. The Poke plate is really good as is the Turkey Club. The staff is always nice and attentive. The location is really nice too. This restaurant is part of the Wailea Beach Resort which is where I stayed. I had several meals at the restaurant during my stay and they were all wonderful. Great staff and yummy food. I had dinner there my first night and had made an Open Table reservation but it was not really needed. The place was never super full. I had the banana and veggie curry. The bananas added an interesting sweet flavor. It was very good. Also got their sorbet for dessert. It was very flavorful. I also had lunch there a couple of times - shrimp tacos and their root salad with shrimp added. Both meals were very tasty. One lunch, the waitress gave me a to-go cup so I could take more soda with me. A nice touch. They also do the food and drinks if you order something at one of the pools. I have avocado spring rolls one day and they were very tasty. Loved the peanut sauce for dipping. They also made good pina coladas and mai tais. Overall a really nice restaurant, especially one within a hotel. read more

It's there for convenience (poolside is extra convenient) and the resort coupons for two complimentary drinks will draw you in. The service was very accommodating and open space concept with views towards the pool was great. Resort prices for food are expected. Personally I prefer food off resort as the menu isn't too special with any unique offerings, but I'll say the burger didn't disappoint with the char grilled flavor. Great views. Good service. But the food is overly priced and most likely just pre-prepared foods that are heated, fried, or easy to cook. This is the bar closest to one of the pools so you can drink at the bar and watch the sunset. We made reservations for dinner but you really don't need it unless it's super busy tourist season. Otherwise, you can order online and eat at the pool. The menu is the same. We ordered: Poke Bowl - Beautifully plated and that's about it. The poke is subpar. Nothing Hawaiian about it except for the ingredients. Kapa Burger - The burger is probably the best thing you can get for your money. Huge however it had a funky blue cheese taste. Fish of the Day - The fish was Mahi Mahi today. It had a funky taste to it. It was prepared with a sauce that was overly salty and had a packaged taste to it. It didn't come with the veggies listed on the menu and I had to ask about it. (They cooked and brought it out separately. The mushrooms with slimy and tasted sour.) Service: I do like that our server was attentive to my shellfish allergy and asking me about cross contamination. read more

She answered every silly to serious question I had! She made sure the food came out perfect! I requested a dish that was veg friendly but silly me is allergic to peanuts and she made sure they could accommodate me and everything! My uncle had a plain burger with cheese, and he said it was the best burger on the island!!! 10/10 I recommend for a very chill, casual, but still 5 star service and food kind of night! First day on Maui I went to the pool. I ordered the Ahu Poke Bowl and looked like a modern art masterpiece. Fresh fish marinated in shoyu over rice, with pickled vegetables. I loved their signature Mai Tai, which was not too sweet and had a really balanced taste. So darn good. Since we're here celebrating our 5 year anniversary and my birthday, we ended the meal with a nice slice of chocolate cake and ice cream on the house, of course. The dishes looked nice, and I was actually quite excited when I saw them brought out, but the flavor was relatively bland. Service was fine, but a bit slow. We did show up at an off hour for lunch since we just flew in. There are some outdoor tables that have nice views, but we were seating in the partially indoor area. I probably won't come back unless we were desperate for something near the room. I want to emphasize that the food isn't bad, just bland. read more

Didn't have high expectations since our goal was to also redeem our free mai thai from the hotel. Ordered the grass fed burger , onion rings and ahi tuna rolls. To my surprise the food was actually pretty good ! Burger was cooked nicely. Onion ring nice and fresh and crunchy. Sushi roll was also quite flavorful. While staying at the resort we dined here as soon as we checked in cause we didn't want to look for another place to eat and a few days later we had a late lunch after a day-trip. The food is pretty good but it has a small menu, small portions and high prices. I really enjoyed the poke bowl that I ordered. It was fresh and very flavorful. The Korean chicken wings were very delicious and we finished it all within minutes but again 6 wings for around $20 ... The sushi rolls were amazing, and so was the burger. I'm glad we tried this place out but I can't imagine eating here every day for seven days. It's pricey. They have delicious cocktails again for $20 and local draft beer which my husband really enjoyed. go and try it out, you won't be disappointed. The views alone is worth the trip. read more

On a staycation from Oahu to wailea beach resort Maui. and It's actually been a while since I went to a restaurant and I thought everything tasted good ! I got the signature kapa burger which I thought would be very basic nothing special and was blown away I stick to medium rare and it was cooked to perfection the fresh butter lettuce ,Maui onions and the perfectly melted cheese. I got mine with a salad because the burgers are massive ! The salad came with a dressing and I am kicking myself for not asking what it was because I wanted a whole salad after trying it ! The mock-tails (hala Alua) were yummy and the Korean fried chicken was outstanding , small point to make ( the fresh pickles it came with were my favorite ) my kids ate ALL their food burgers and grilled cheese and fries which they said were fresh . Perfect for kids and not too pricey ! The views and service were great and our reservation was right on time . So amazing to be able to go in and out with a large party! Don't worry about people who aren't happy for you. They probably are not happy for themselves either. The staff at KAPA certainly want to make you happy. This is probably the best venue to dine at the resort. It overlooks the pool and offers some of the best dishes to devour. I believe the in room service is out of this kitchen. Love that every where we go Maui Brewing is the go to beer on tap. After a long flight, we ended up ordering the ahi poke that came with taro chips, the coconut shrimp are colossal, and the ahi tacos were pretty yum. Service is pretty quick and fast. Apparently there's TV to catch games if you're inclined to ignore the ocean views. Personally you should do things that make you forget to check your phone or watch TV. Get outside. COVID EDITION I love that Kapa has an indoor outdoor feel. They were so sweet to accommodate our VERY large group with less than 24 hours notice, even when we continued to add to the group. They had us sit at a few large tables in the back away from the other patrons- which I loved and I'm sure other appreciated since we were pretty loud. They took such great care of us and were willing to split the checks by table. The food and drinks were amazing. And they even surprised the bride and groom we were celebrating with with dessert. With how popping Maui is right now, it was very difficult to get a reservation anywhere. Our usual spots were booked weeks out & my parents were looking for a place for their anniversary. We booked this one as we were game to try someplace new. Located in the Wailea Marrriott, this is a more casual spot out by the pool . They don't do paper menus, as you are given a QR code to scan. That was totally fine, however there were like 7 pages & you could only order off around 4 of them. They also have a food truck & that menu was also on there, which makes things a bit confusing. There is also a menu online, but that isn't updated, so things we wanted on there were no longer available. I was struggling to find something I wanted to eat on the menu. I ended up going with the tomato bisque with sour dough grilled cheese, & my parents got the wagyu burger, grilled chicken & bacon sandwich & we shred the spicy chicken wings. Everything was good, but nothing special. Honestly for those prices though, I expected better. However, our server Zach probably made the night. We loved his quirky personality & enthusiasm. We were staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, so we stopped in here for both lunch and dinner. Both times I made a reservation through Open Table, but we didn't need it. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the open-air atmosphere was wonderful! My husband claims they had the best fries in Maui! I have celiac so I adhere to a gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free diet. Our server, Rene, was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped me figure out what my options were. At lunch, I had a modified version of the avocado toast (on gluten free bread) and really enjoyed it, but was still hungry so I ordered the acai bowl. It was great! Sadly, I had to leave off the granola because it wasn't gluten free but the rest was lovely. When we came back for dinner, I ordered the pan seared chicken breast. Our server said I was able to eat the dish as-is, so I had it with the garlic rice, coconut curry sauce, and local vegetables. It was very good! Overall, I recommend! read more

When my wife and I got to Maui after a long day of travel, we opted for the easiest dinner option: The bar by the pool that was mere steps from our room. To our pleasant surprise, what we thought would be an underwhelming meal was actually so good, we ended up coming back to Kapa FOUR more times during our trip! Each time we got one of the salads with the fresh catch or with shrimp. The fish and shrimp were cooked PERFECTLY and the salads were all delicious. Kapa Grill is the outstanding restaurant bar located at one of the gorgeous pools at the Wailea Beach Resort - A must visit while you are staying at the resort (or even if you're not.. it's worth the trip). Who doesn't love a good pool bar?! But an awesome pool bar with a stunning pool and ocean view - Score! If you are not staying at the resort, there is a large parking garage as you enter the facilities with pay by hour parking - And if you'd like, the resort also offers valet parking. The customer service at Kapa is on point and the team should be celebrated - Top notch, A+ service! We ate and had drinks at Kapa several times throughout our visit and from the hostesses, the waitstaff as well as the bartenders.. they were so warm, welcoming, beyond friendly and truly made us enjoy our visit that much more. What else are you going to do at the pool but swim, sunbathe and enjoy some cocktails - And I love that the team here remembered our names, room number and our drink of choice {especially given how busy this place gets and how many people they see each day) - Kudos! When you're lounging by the pool, you can't go wrong with Mai Tai's, Frozen Pina Colada's or a Crisp, Cool Beer - And boy, did we have plenty of these! Beyond the delightful and tasty drinks, the food is amazingly delicious! The Hubs and I like to share plates - This way you get to try more - So that's exactly what we did! The Spicy Edamame is a great way to start - Perfectly charred Edamame sautéed with Garlic and Fresno Chili's - What a great Combo! We also decided to spilt the Herb Chicken & Bacon Sandwich - Perfectly cooked Herbed Chicken topped with Bacon, Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado and Garlic Aioli all on a Brioche Bun. I'm not sure what it is about this Sammie but this is the Best Darn Chicken Sandwich I've ever had - From the moment we were done, I was immediately craving it again and knew I had to have it again before we left the resort. You can customize any way you'd like and add Fries or a Side Salad with your dish - We opted for the Side Salad - And the Dressing served with the Salad is Heavenly - I would buy a big batch if this stuff was bottled up.
