My child has experienced three different daycare environments - a traditional daycare as an infant, Montessori, and this school which draws from numerous pedagogical approaches for early childhood education. Although I liked the Montessori school she attended, my child was never lit up at the end of the day. Children should love school, if not it's not the right fit. By contrast, this school was a great fit for her. We were very lucky to have provided my child with the opportunity to attend this play-focused school and are sad to be moving on. It was very clear that my child was well loved at the school, as are all of the children. All of the teachers know all of the children's names, they know who the kids best friends are, and they are warm and welcoming. I loved that my child got to experience cooking, baking, gardening, and music on a regular if not daily basis, in addition to pretend play, blocks, art, and outdoor activities. They are read to throughout the day. I appreciated the balance between group activities and free play. I also loved that the teachers took pictures of the children throughout the week so I could see what they were doing. The school is also very diverse for the area, both staff and students. In the past few months the Covid protocols changed so parents could come inside the school for drop off and pick up. If you get to school around 8:45 parents could listen to the morning song (but I was perpetually late and missed it). Regardless of when I appeared at the school I would hear laughter and children engaged in fun activities. I never once experienced chaos or a teacher in a sour mood. The most common parent complaints are parking can be somewhat of a challenge depending on timing, and they aren't pushing academics hard. Neither of those issues were a major concern for me. Our two oldest kids(3rd and 1st grade) started Kumon last October while they were still doing public schools. Both were ahead of their peers in math and motivated to learn more, but the school was unable to provide the resources to help them learn at their own pace. After 9 months at Kumon, our 1st grader (now starting second grade) is doing simultaneous linear equations and our 3rd (now 4th) grader is starting 8th grade math. - Not a typo. Now, the 1st grader is ranked #10 in the nation among first graders. In January we started home schooling our kids and decided that we would continue with Kumon. Stuti's background in tutoring and unique ability to love and motivate our kids has changed the course of their learning for the better, even for the 3rd grader, who doesn't particularly enjoy math. :-) We have now started them on the reading program (the 3rd grader is now happy) and are looking forward to many more leaps and bounds in their learning. Kumon has been the most significant investment in our children's future we have made this far. The bottom line is that Kumon is the perfect vehicle for all kids to learn at their pace, regardless what the rest of the class is doing and Stuti is the best possible choice to run this office.

Our principal, Andrea Sleet, is as warm and compassionate as she is devoted to her students' learning, safety and emotional wellbeing. She is deeply engaged with students, teachers, staff and families by greeting students as they arrive each day, regularly visiting classrooms, hosting principal coffee meetings and a book club with parents, and attending all PTA meetings and school events. She is a celebrity on campus and the students adore her. The community at Del Mar Hills is friendly and inclusive and the PTA sponsors many events throughout the year to provide opportunities for students and their families to gather (e.g. an ice cream social, Halloween Spooktacular, world festival, and the family carnival). Fourth through sixth grade students are deeply involved in these events and are encouraged to create and oversee games, as well as to construct and guide students through an impressive haunted house at our Halloween Spooktacular.
