I had an appointment at Lotus Nail Salon in Winsted for a pedicure and a full set of acrylics. It was myself, my daughter, and her friend. We were greeted and seated to wait while we chose our colors. While waiting, I noticed one of the employees performing pedicures had a very wet, persistent cough. She was not covering her mouth and was repeatedly snorting back mucus. Out of four employees, three were wearing masks -- she was not. Unfortunately, she was the technician assigned to me. I am currently 6 months pregnant, so I'm very cautious about getting sick. After several minutes of continuous coughing while my foot bath filled, I asked if I could have a mask. I was told the technician has asthma and that if I was uncomfortable, I should wear a mask. I was given two masks, which I put on. I didn't want to cause a scene -- I just wanted to feel safe. The service itself was also disappointing. After not being asked which pedicure package I wanted, I had to request the menu myself. Once the service began, lotion was applied generously to my legs for about 10 minutes -- but there was no actual massage and my feet were never massaged at all. When I asked if she was going to massage my feet, I was told she already had. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. Between being coughed on and receiving what felt like a half-done service for $55, I decided to stop the appointment. I calmly explained that I couldn't continue, offered to pay half, and left. To be fair, my daughter's acrylic nails came out mostly nice -- however, there was a black dot and even a hair stuck in the polish. Before this, I had been in a knee brace and was really looking forward to finally being pampered. As a pregnant woman who simply wanted a relaxing experience, this was disappointing and uncomfortable. I will not be returning. read more

Would not recommend. The man who did my pedicure was rough & actually cut my foot in two spots. I actually said ouch several times during what should have been a relaxing pedicure. At the start of my manicure his grandchild became ill in the middle of the salon. He tended to her (which is understandable since her mom & grandma we're out of the building) but he didn't properly clean up the vomit, he just wiped it down with napkins... he cleaned his hands with hand sanitizer before resuming my manicure. My nails look like they were painted by an amateur. I am put off by the whole experience & will not be back. read more

My nail salon hired new technicians and I was not happy so I searched Google for "Best nail salons in Torrington" and Lotus Nails & Spa was on top of the list. I stopped in after shopping and they took me right away as a walk-in. I honestly can't say enough about the people there. They were pleasant, professional and the salon was very clean. The prices were very affordable. I have been very sporadic on pedicures since Covid so I was a lot of work, but the technician was amazing with a light touch. I was very impressed and happy to have found them. I will be a repeat customer! read more

This is a nice place but I want variety I went in before the Covid 3 times. Then 5 months later when they opened up again I was so excited ran down there and I looked at there gel art disappointed nothing new at all, I almost blurted out it's been months and you couldn't even come up with anything new? So I got the same Ole nails, if you wanna keep your customers change a Lil bit, nobody likes the same stuff over and over again. read more

Stopped in because it was on my way to where I was going. Upon opening the door the smell of acrylic just hit me like a ton of bricks. She did a horrible job and filed my already short nails into the weirdest shape i've ever seen in my life - by the time I got her to stop it was too late, one hand looked terrible. This is the worst salon ever. The owner was like a scammer and so rude. Yelled and hit the table when i messed up one nail just one time. She put UV gel over my nails too thick!!!Over charged with an excuse. Even i paid for it, they came out terrible. All my nails are crooked, uneven length, bumppy, rough edges, and they are already lifted. I just got them done 2 hours ago. I noticed that my nails will lift when she put them on without a primer and put too much gels on my skin. And she used a drill tool on my nails and skin. Ended up bleeding. My nails felt burning. Under new management for a while now. Cathy, Tony, and NaNa are very good at what they do. The salon is clean and customer friendly. My friend and I go here all the time. My friend tried another salon only once. She was disappointed and paid more for less. Anyone who had a bad experience should try again I'm sure you will see it's better. . read more

NEVER EVER GO HERE!!! I wouldn't even give this place 1 star if it was possible. Upon there being no license or certifications posted anywhere in this establishment, it's clear everyone is highly inexperienced! My nails were all uneven, thick, and tacky I was constantly trying to fix them myself after my visit. They were extremely rude and you can tell they are racist toward Americans esp. White women ; if I had a request they just rolled their eyes and started that caddy foreign language chatter and completely ignored my requests and did not even ask if I was satisfied. But that is hardly the worst part. Almost all of my nails chipped and fell off within 72 hours of them being done. Now most places will fix their work for free; HA not only did they refuse to fix them and proceed to blame me for them breaking. When I asked for my $ back they said they had a no refund policy that was also not listed anywhere. Do not waste your $ or your time I in fact have half a mind to report them for operating without a license, being that it is a "spa" they are required by law to have licensed individuals working for them. read more
