It's not pretty to drive up to but the food is fantastic and the owners are nice! The Pho is darker than most but I'm sure that means it's authentic. Gotta try it.

Somewhat of an Institution here in Memphis, this place is family owned and operated. It's a bit out of the way on Summer. With overgrown shrubs and little if any external lighting, many passers by likely think it's closed, aside from the glow from the neon OPEN sign. The interior is worn, but comfortable and dining surfaces are very clean. Crowds are usually light but made up of diners who are aware they're getting something a little special. First off, as others stated: this place requires a bit of patience. Water & glasses for our wine arrived 7-8 minutes after we arrived. After placing our order, our app (Banh Xao) was delivered about 25 minutes later, and the entrees (Beef Pho, and Curry Vermicelli) coming about 25 minutes after that. Keep it in mind, bring a bottle of wine, and enjoy conversation. Service is excellent in the sense that the gentleman who works front of house (the son) is very knowledgeable and passionate about his family's food. He's helpful with recommendations and tips, as well as being very friendly. APP: Banh Xao Very tasty stuff. Moist filling generously stuffed into nice crisp shell, with huge fresh leaves of lettuce and delicious house pickled carrots. The sauce is just sweet enough, and benefits from a dab of their fantastic house-made chili paste (they even grow their own peppers). Be careful, it's potent! ENTREE: Beef Pho My beef pho arrived "assembled", with the mint/basil already in the broth, and a lime wedge on top (if you feel the broth needs it after tasting it). While many love hoisin and/of sriracha with their pho (either on the side like I prefer, or in the broth), they will only provide Hoisin on request. They (and I) suggest tasting the broth before adding anything. I found the hoisin blended with their chili paste makes an excellent dipping sauce for the sliced beef, if that's your thing. Now, about the broth... they claim 5 days of simmering. The color and beefy flavor supports that claim, or at least a few days worth. It is dark, rich, and clear. The flavor is dominated by a rich beefiness. Unfortunately, I found it lacking a bit of balance... with the flavor of the aromatics being a little too far in the background. Also, while overly salty pho broth isn't good (and usually a sign of "cheating" via bouillon cubes / flavoring), this broth could use a bit more salt to it. It's a touch "bland" outside the rich beefy flavor. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just prefer a bit more complexity. Overall this place is a Memphis Classic. The food is VERY good, and prepared and served with care. It's impossible not to give them 5 stars here, in spite of a couple small quips and preferences. If you haven't been, I can't recommend it strongly enough.

My first time ordering from here and I wish there was dine-in so I can try out their pho without driving it home, but during this time they're only doing take-out and curbside. Overall, I enjoyed my oder which was Lemongrass beef (comes with rice) and summer rolls. The dish was flavorful and comes with lots of vegetables. I already ate the summer rolls so no photos for those. My total rang up $21.99 I would definitely like to visit again especially when dine-in is available.

First time here. It's by my house and idk why I've never come... looks sketchy on the outside but that's just summer ave for ya. The place is small and cozy. Family run. It's like being home. Bring a book it takes time. Being a bartender/server that's what I tell people food food/drinks take time. Don't rush the process. Anyway, so I ordered the Vietnamese Eggroll and the Pho and some jasmine tea. So the eggroll was the best I've ever had. It was more like a spring roll but that's not the point. I'm going to get fat because of this place. Very good filling and super crunchy on the outside. BEST PHO IN MEMPHIS. The put everything in there for you and it comes in this huge bowl. Great deal for $10. Seriously if you like pho you have to come here. What a gem!

I haven't gone there since the management has changed... may have to see about it. Back to the main event, I really enjoyed myself. It is really a local spot that wouldn't immediately be seen by a tourist, but you'll be so glad you found it once you do. The parking is a bit limited and it is on a busy street, but it is worth a visit. As soon as you walk in, the place surprises you with just how much of restaurant detail is inside, because you initially think it would have limited seating or even consider it being like a convenient store by the external appearance. FOOD: Once you pick your seat, you realize they have everything you need at your table and all you have to do next is pick your dish(es). I decided to try one of the beef phos and it was really delicious. I got the regular size and that size was a large bowl. I could only imagein what their larger size is. It is probably for a person that is trying to share. SERVICE/OVERALL: Last but not least, I was really happy with the cost. The flavor was awesome, the service was so kind and welcoming, and the overall experience was to the point where I am ready to go again. You have to admit, in this cold weather, ramen, pho, soups, etc. sound great and this is definitely a place to try when those cravings start to rise.

You can tell she puts a lot of heart into preserving and carrying on the Le family's authentic flavors and traditions. Their lotus salad is the best in town. The stone bowl pho was amazing--the broth was incredibly smooth, clean, and natural-tasting, and the meatballs were flavorful and delicious. The Bun Cha Hanoi felt like an upgraded version of vermicelli dishes, with a tasty and flavorful soup on the side. Definitely a place we keep coming back to.

One of my coworkers got the Sweet and Sour Chicken and said it was the best he had ever had. The rest of us ordered more authentic dishes, such as pho. The table has lots of ingredients you can add to your pho to make it tastier. We asked and the waiter told us what everything was. I ended up adding hoisin, chili paste, and sesame oil I think. I really enjoyed all that I added so I'll definitely have to try and find out what it was so I can ask for it if I ever get anything to go from here. I really enjoyed the chicken fried rice I ordered for us to share. It was very good. The egg rolls were also delicious. I liked my pho but I really didn't like the chicken in the dish- it just didn't have much flavor to me. I'd be willing to try a different type of meat because the rest of it was still really good. The food overall is solid, which brought me back for a second time. But the restaurant itself feels very outdated and not the most comforting place to dine in. I get the whole "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, but after visiting twice, I think I'd rather go somewhere else for pho if I'm looking to sit down and enjoy a cozier, more welcoming atmosphere. That said, I'm still giving it a solid 4 stars because the food is still solid, I'm not gonna take away from that. I just wish the condition and cleanliness of the restaurant matched the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen.
