Bok Choy Sauted with Shiitake Mushrooms (Bok Choy Xao Nam)
Needha Q.

Visiting from Texas - Selected from the vegetarian menu - hot and sour soup, vegetable egg rolls, vegetarian spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, tofu lemongrass, and bok choy with shiitake mushrooms...AMAZING!! Food was fresh and cooked to order. Seasoned and not salty. It was SOOOOOO GOOD!!! We almost hurt ourselves trying to eat it all. Service was fantastic and this little tucked away gem was quiet and people are VERY friendly. Will be back!

Spent 15 minutes here and will never return. The woman serving us was rude to my mom, my child, and me--ignoring us while laughing at videos in a booth. My polite 12-year-old complimented the drink, and she just walked off, then asked "What'd he say?" without acknowledging him. She greeted fair-skinned customers warmly, but gave us no thank you, or basic courtesy. She never took my drink order and prioritized others who walked in after us. We're leaving as soon as we pay. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Needed food and my meal of beef vermicelli with a side of spring rolls satisfied. Again the ambiance was comforting. Service was speedy.

Came in here on a Sunday night, and it wasn't too packed. The menu offers lots of great food options, including plenty of vegetarian choices. Everything was full of flavor and had that comforting, home-cooked feel. I highly recommend trying the pancake--it's my favorite dish here! Also pictured is the wonton soup, which was absolutely delicious. Don't forget to order the spring rolls--they're a must when visiting this spot. Great food and a cozy experience overall!

Tuyen is one of the hardest working, sweetest, business women I've had the privilege of supporting! She's always very accommodating and whipping up good eats while doing so! I've had the opportunity to chat with her a few times about her family, her journey and the current ups and downs of the restaurant business! Tonight she came to the rescue once again! I came to Memphis and got sick! I needed some soup to help aid whatever this was that was trying to take my immune system out! I asked her for some hot broth and/or whatever she had in there that was quick and easy, being that it was 7 minutes to closing! ITS SOOOOO GOOD! She packaged the broth separately from the fillings! It was packed with shrimp, surimi, thinly sliced pork, bean sprouts, fresh jalapeños, scallion, and fried garlic! Don't forget the yummy pork dumplings and noodles! I added a huge spoonful of chili crispy to spice it up a bit more! Huge bowl of pho with leftovers for the next day! It was the perfect cure! I'm stuffed and feeling a lot better! I've also tried the house fried rice, which is delicious and I've had the special spring rolls that come with all the fresh herbs and things! I've heard great things about the lemon grass tofu dish! So whether you sit in her cozy dining room or take your food to go, you're in for a treat! Go support!! You won't regret it!

Awesome pho and bun! Very colorful assortment of veggies and tasty broth in the noodle soup. Quick and delicious!

This quaint restaurant is near Crosstown Concourse. It is decorated with pictures of specialty dishes that are available. It is small but can hold a fair amount of patrons. There is parking in the front of the place. It was consistently busy when we arrived. Started off with the spring rolls and yummy peanut sauce. I could have eaten all the sauce without the spring roll! Also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. Strong coffee with ice and a good amount of condensed milk. It was very refreshing. For dinner we ordered bun which is somewhat cold rice noodles, lettuce, fish sauce, chargrilled fragrant pork, fried spring rolls, julienne carrots and cucumber. It was very delish. I will have enough for lunch tomorrow. Wanted a side dish of bok choy and mushrooms. That was a tad salty but very tasty. We only ate half of that dish also. It comes with an order of rice. Our server was very attentive and cordial. He was fast and efficient. We gave this newish place two thumbs up! Awesome food and service.

Lemongrass tofu, $12.95

Big portions, pretty tasty food--doesn't sound like there should be anything wrong, right? I liked the house special lemongrass curry tofu, which was salty and flavorful and good with the rice it came with. Shrimp vermicelli was decent, although the pickled daikon and carrot didn't seem pickled at all. The shrimp itself was a bit bland (true of the spring rolls as well). Peanut sauce for the rolls was good though! I'd say the food generally warrants three stars--good but nothing special or great. Mainly the things that bothered me were related to the incorrect prices on the menu, a credit card charge that wasn't mentioned at all, and then when I brought up the incorrect pricing, I got a lot of attitude even though I was just trying to bring it to their attention. The boss knew that the menu price was wrong and just wasn't bothered to mark it (she admitted this), which feels unethical. I really wanted to love this spot but I've felt unwelcome the few times I've been and the upcharging isn't okay.

Food: served lukewarm and on the skimpy side. Service: unwelcoming towards black and brown dining in. Felt rushed. Server was hastily and fell short of just being kind. Ambiance: casual Their menu prices are incorrect!! It's nice to experience other cultures who welcome you. Will not return; service was subpar but very friendly and welcoming towards the whiter persuasions!

Yes, it's worth the hype. We visited Tuyen's on New Year's Eve - great location near Crosstown with a cute cafe vibe. There weren't many in the restaurant around 11:30, but it filled up as noon approached. Service was good, and although our server didn't speak English well she made a good effort to understand our questions. There were others working who did speak better English. But the language barrier is often how you know it's good and authentic! We ordered the tofu with lemongrass (5/5), vegetable fried rice (3.5/5), spring rolls (4/5), and salt and pepper tofu with jalapeño (1000/5). I can't stop thinking about the salt and pepper tofu!!!! It was so well seasoned, crispy, and blazing hot on the inside. I loved the lemongrass tofu as well. I would say the white rice could've been cooked better, but it didn't detract much from the meal. The spring rolls were good. The fried rice was solid. I thought the prices were pretty good for the amount of food you got, and I'll be returning asap for the salt and pepper tofu. Looking forward to trying more!

We tried 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, and everything was good. The service was not the best, but their menu is huge and the story behind the place is wonderful. The owner is carrying on the legacy of her parents from Vietnam. If you go, know that there is limited parking.

The woman serving was rude and unprofessional. She did not welcome the customers and was sliding the menu in an inappropriate manner.

It's a comforting embrace on your dehydration from partying the night before. It's the gentle kiss of the sunlight on the first spring day. It's the caress of the lover that got away. Today I needed food to hit my soul. I've had a lot going on and sometimes it's hard to find that special dish that will make your day. This bowl gave me hope and vitality. What a lovely and well seasoned experience. I don't write reviews often but this experience hit different. Please be kind to restaurant staff. Food tastes better when you have a good heart.

The broth has a slightly sweet flavor that I personally really enjoy. Their salted lemonade is really fresh and refreshing, it's a must-order every time I visit! My only complaint is the portion size. The bowls are a bit small. As a female, I need to order a large to feel full. Most males may probably want to order an appetizer or another dish on the side. Service is pretty much the same as it was at the old Vietnamese Restaurant, minimal and not particularly attentive. Overall, the food keeps me coming back, especially the pho and salted lemonade. Four stars.

MADISON AVENUE! Better than the rest!…read more TBO !!! (Taste bud Orgasm) Get there while they're slow because the words about to get out! This is the best Vietnamese food I've had in a very very long time. The pan fried X-wide rice noodles is to die for and the spicy lemongrass tofu can't be beat. My wife was not 100% crazy about the pho broth as she said that it tasted 1/2 + 1/2, have bone broth and half beef powder. That said they served plenty of fresh herbs - even sawtooth coulantro! Which is very Perishable so you don't see it often but taste like cilantro on steroids. Memphis is becoming a crowded field when it comes to Pho houses but this is one not to miss out on.
