Went to Louie's for the first time today and it really is special. A huge assortment of everything, plants are absolutely gorgeous. Everything is laid out so orderly and neat, and honestly the place is just charming. It's like a botanical wonderland. I have had a challenging past few years, including a couple years of cancer treatments that left me looking like a hairless rat. I have been tackling my poor, neglected yard, and walking around Louie's just felt wonderful. The people here are delightfully nice, I left with some beautiful plants, and I just feel happy. Bought a cara cara (red navel) orange tree with fruit on 6/3/17. On 1/17/18 the fruit/tree turned out to be just a regular Washington navel orange. The tag is still on the tree. No response from the nursery after leaving two messages on the Contact Us form. Will not buy anything from this place again. They don't have the integrity to rectify a problem caused by their own mislabeling. read more

I had been searching for a Holiday Avocado tree for days, and every nursery up and down the state was out of them, until I called Louie's. Not only did they have 3 left, but the very helpful woman answering the phone went back to the avocado section and put "sold" on the best tree of the bunch on my word I would drive down and get it today! I have been looking high and low for David Austin Rose (shrub)- Gertrude Jekyll. When I called Louie's Nursery, they told me their shipment will arrived in a few days. I requested to have one reserved for me. They called me that they received it and it was ready to be pick up. I didn't even think to double check if it's shrub rose as I assume it would be and I forgot to ask how much it cost. I just got so excited I finally found a nursery that have the rose I have been struggling to find. The distance from my home to the nursery was over an hour and it was raining day. As I arrived, I spoke with Mary about the rose I reserved. She was really kind. She bought it out for me. The rose look absolutely beautiful and smell so amazing! I didn't hesitate to buy it as I drove all the way here for it. The price was ridiculous as it was over $60 for it. Lucky, they were having a Mother's Day sale for roses. So it was 20% off. Mary loaded it onto my car and gave me succulent as a gift. I went back home with my new rose. It wasn't raining in my area. So I was checking out my new rose. I found out it was a climbing rose, not a shrub. I wasn't paying attention to it as it was raining and I want to go back home ASAP. Most of the leaves on my rose have powdery mildew. It was unfortunately as I have more roses so it was contagious and spread to it. I did spray it with neem oil all over the leaves but it didn't go away. I'm hoping it won't get worst and get it under the control. I was disappointed with the lack of communication and information regarding to the rose. Also I was disappointed that I bought home a rose that already have powdery mildew which I wasn't aware until I got home. read more

Great plants, a little over priced. But most importantly you can't get them to call back. I needed to by about 30 trees and have purchased from them before. After 4 days of calling and talking to them about sending me a photo of the trees I wanted to buy, I still have not heard from them. I talk to a sales associate every time I call. same old line. Easily the best plant selection in the IE. Site only seems to be a couple of acres, but jam-packed with vines, shrubs, trees and whatnot. Best succulent selection, best 5 and 15 gallon tree selection (both fruit and decorative), no real selection of larger (25 gallon boxed & up) trees, but do have some specimens. Best shade plant selection, best ground cover flat selection, etc. What don't they have? Lowest prices, discount "hurt" plants, huge assortment of common plants (e.g. Boston Ferns, Bird of Paradise, Jasmine). A great alternative/adjunct to the big box stores - uncommon selection, expertise and quality while avoiding the high volume, lower quality plants you can get anywhere. read more

My family and I visited Louie's for the first time today. We are new to the area and had previously been buying all of our plants at Lowes. Today when Lowe's did not have a plant that we found appealing, we went online to find another nursery and found Louie's. We drove out there and I immediately loved the "curb appeal" - their property is well kept, clean, and generally a place that would be pleasant to shop at. My family and I walked around the grounds looking for a plant/tree that would suit a large patio pot. We found a citrus tree and went inside to ask if it would work in our pot. The lady (I didn't note her name) was extremely friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in helping us out. Upon her advice, we went right back out and grabbed an orange tree. Someone noticed my husband struggling to carry it and brought us a rolling cart. As we were paying, the first lady gave us detailed instructions on how to care for it (without us asking) which was wonderful. Also while we were there they needed someone to move their truck so that they could get a large fountain out to someone's vehicle. They paged the driver and were extremely friendly and pleasant to the man. So, all 3 employees that we saw went above and beyond to be kind and offer top notch customer service. We will DEFINITELY be back. Their prices are in line with what we saw at Lowes....maybe a tad higher, but trust me, it's worth it for the great customer service, the pretty grounds (it was fun just walking around) and everything looked extremely well taken care of. read more

We are new to gardening and looking for a good nursery to start buying all of our plants. We have bought some stuff from home depot and lowe's, but after going to this nursery we have found our new favorite place. Compared to other nurseries, they are pretty average priced, not too high or too low. They have a great selection of beautiful and extremely well taken care of plants, trees, and flowers. They are also all very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to answering our questions about any plant we didnt know about. I called for information on a unique tree they had and while I was on the phone, they text pictures of it to see if I liked it. They also sent pictures of some rocks to place by the tree. Once we agreed on everything, within an hour they delivered the beautiful tree and installed it at my mothers home for her 80th Birthday! Last week I bought some cat friendly plants for my cats. I also wanted a few more ornamental grasses for my backyard. Louie's nursery offered to call me when their next shipment came in with the list of shrubs, plants etc I needed. Louie's nursery is also a great place to get gardening ideas for your yard. I visited Louie's for the first time yesterday & I loved it! It is beautifully laid out, feels like walking through a smaller lush & lovely arboretum! The staff are super friendly, extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. Their selection of roses, trees & citrus is excellent. Their quality and selection is far superior to any "big box" location; I would much rather give my money to a family business (since the 70's) then to either HD or L!! Make sure you get your guarantee in writing. Were told there is a one year guarantee when we purchased a $200.00 tree, now four months later the tree is dead, we are out $200 and all we get is "sorry". Go to Padillas up the road, honest people who will replace plants that die for a year. read more

This is a great family owned nursery. I have been going there for many years and I have never been disappointed. I was just there this week and did not know a particular variety of orange and they were able to suggest one to add, a red valencia. We have many fruit trees and did not have this one. The mother and daughter are always on the grounds and able to answer any question I have. All plants and trees are always in great condition and they have a great selection. read more

Last Sunday we went to Louie's Nursery looking for plants and pots for an area in our front yard. The first young lady we spoke to regarding why we were there suggested an area where the plants can take all day sun. She stated it would be best to speak with Juanita but better if we came back during the week when they are not so busy. I work during the week so that doesn't work for me. We found some plants and then looked for Juanita to ask a few questions. Juanita had enough time to answer one question and then kept backing away - you would think I didn't take a bath or she had other plans. Seriously they were not that busy. I will never recommend or go to Louie's Nursey ever again! read more

This is the best Nursery in California. Most of the employees here watch their customers. And the minute a customer starts looking for someone to help them, the employees are not that far away. They have a very nice variety of plants, and they're all pretty healthy. The staff knows what works in this area and any special needs the plants have. They are always helpful when I ask questions. The dip-stick (female) I spoke to had no info/knowledge on the subject and said she would call me back by end of day, after conferring with an associate. It's now32 days since that call and nothing. No problem - if you don't want my business, I won't "force" it on you; but you can bet I will spread the word about your customer service (or lack of it) to others! To all other perspective buyers - Take your chances with this outfit - if this person is a representative that projects "first impressions" of this business, you might want to re-think the type of HELP you won't be receiving... at least any time soon! read more

I've been to Louie's Nursery at least 10 times in one year. I just moved to Riverside about a year ago and bought a house last fall. I've visited several nurseries. Louie's is by far my favorite so far, although they can be a little pricey in certain plant areas. I'm a semi-serious weekend gardener, and what I love about Louie's Nursery is that their plants/trees are very clearly labeled and wonderfully organized in sections (evergreen trees in one area, deciduous in another, vines, ground cover, etc.). They have really good/healthy plant and tree specimens that I haven't found in other nurseries. They are also very helpful. read more
