We are here from California but my Mama Bruce lives in Texarkana, TX and I wanted her to come visit us while we are in Shreveport, LA / Bossier City and they help me give her directions to be able to come visit US. Cocktail waitresses are horrible. They must not like a $5.00 tip for one beer? They never ask me do I want anything. I have to flagged them down. I was just there yesterday for 1 hour and both waitresses looked and walked past me twice and never said a word. They are very rude. Should I call the manager down in order to get my complimentary drink? They both look like they are mad at everyone. i actually think its because I look better than them because obviously they do not want to make money and help the casino out. I decided to go to this casino for the new year as I knew I had food credit and came here for the energy drinks and my little $25 dollar in free play. I also wanted to play the roulette game with a spin bonus and wild thing and most likely leave. I do not know why I like playing that game as I never hit anything good on there and getting the bonus. However, I decided this time to try my luck at this casino and see what happens as I saw last time they did have a lot of old school three reel machines that were not volatile. I should try it. The roulette game was out of commission so I played Wild Thing and nothing happened. I then played Triple Double Dollar and even though I did see the machine had a jackpot on there I decided to do the "backup" spins and little did I know I hit my first jackpot there of $2400.00 They do take a long time to get to you that I had to get someone from the cashier cage to come get me. Then, I had to wait another 30 minutes for my handpay to appear. I ended up playing some really old Aristocrat games while I waited and they were a lot of fun as I got a bonus on one and the other a great line hit. I can't recommend this place. My top complaint was the poor customer service. It was awful. My wife and I were riding our motorcycle back home. It had rained earlier and the only covered/protected area is under the abandoned valet. Absolutely nothing is under the awning and when I asked to park the bike there- they said no. They said there was no room in case of a fire. I could have parked my bike and the entire Bossier City FD under that awning. So they just weren't interested in a simple accommodation which could have easily been done. I went to get a players card. After waiting 5 mins in line, cage cashier just put up a closed sign and walked off. Had two bad experiences in the horse betting area. Gal selling programs was rude. The following day, I asked a ticket writer for a pen. All she had to do was get off her fat ass, turn around and grab one. Instead she told me to get one on the other side. Truthfully, I wanted to beef this place with the GM. The employees suck. That and we couldn't win anything here. Kind of sick that we gave them 600 for this awful experience. Updating review. Still haven't eaten here again but friends decided to have a covid vaccine celebration and go out for the first time in forever. I'm not necessarily pro or con masks or smoking, but I will say what was expected was confusing. Passed many people smoking, so obviously they couldn't wear a mask... but then one of my friends was told to pull their mask up? She didn't smoke... is the exception of you are smoking or drinking? And why would it matter? I was hoping at the very least they would have moved the machines a little further apart but it looked the same as it has for the past decade. The only thing I saw done differently was sanitizer in various places... but it wasn't touchless so that's just weird to me because you're a casino... you can afford touchless sanitizing stations. This location is clean, staff is friendly, and there's drink stations throughout to order your drinks. It was a bit of a disappointment for us, as there are absolutely no table games or a poker room. Very nice hotel that overlooks part of the horse track. Rooms modern , huge, and super friendly staff! The horsetrack is nice overall. The casino...not so great. Its slots only and average age of guests is at least 100 with it obviously being a rule that you must chain smoke as well!! A fuddruckers is located inside casino and it was dandy! I've been coming to Louisiana Downs since the early 80s long before the casinos moved into Shreveport/Bossier City and before Harrah's took over the operation. It seems to me there has been a steady downhill slide. While I do understand casino gambling has drawn many patrons away from the track, that is no excuse for the failing service. In fact, it would seem Harrah's would attempt to improve service to perhaps lure back more guests. Other tracks in the South are still flourishing in spite of the casinos. Take Oaklawn in Hot Springs, AR or Lone Star Park in Irving for example. Always crowded. So some points I want to make in hopes that management will take note: 1. Why can I not find the 2014 racing calendar on line to know which days are scheduled for live racing and what time the races will start on those days? Go take a look at the Oaklawn website. 2. Why does no one answer the phone when I call the numbers listed on the web page in an effort to reserve a box seat? 3. Why on earth would you decide to use Open Table to reserve box seats at the track? When location is important, I want a chance to either speak to someone in order to get as close to my preferred location as possible or I at least want a diagram from which to choose. AND, having chosen Open Table, it isn't obvious where to click in order to initiate an Open Table reservation. Finally, the Open Table reservation does not give the opportunity to request or decline a TV in the box. Frankly, I'll be so very surprised if upon arrival this Sunday I actually have a box reserved in my name. 4. Hire food service staff who want to be there. The staff are the most uninterested, sluggard type folks I've ever seen in a "service" establishment. I'm here to have fun and begrudging service doesn't contribute to that end. I love La Downs and hope the management will step things up a notch to try and revive interest in this track. read more

Super bummed out. We came all the way from Las Vegas for the annual weener dog races and they canceled them. They didn't even announce it we had to go around and ask people. They're very unorganized. I don't gamble so I can't comment on that, but the track is great. I love to go watch the horses run. They really need to learn to advertise better. We were traveling through the area and stayed at a different hotel but my husband was very hungry and saw Harrah's had a buffet. Great idea . . . NOT. When we got there it took a while to pay, and it was the seafood buffet so more $$$ We noticed it wasn't very crowded when we got inside. I always look to see what there is then make a decision on what to get. I started with a small salad and some crab and shrimp. My husband didnt' think the shrimp was cold enough and isn't a crab eater (too much work) so I convinced him to go get something else to eat. Turns out, that was a great idea! When I was done with my salad, shrimp and crab, we both got up to get food, me for my main dish and my husband for seconds and dessert. Well, to my shock, the food was all put away, the buffet was closed. Note: I paid for our dinner at 7:42pm. We also paid for a bottle of wine so it was obvious we weren't in a rush to eat. Apparently, the buffet closes at 8 and they put the food away at 8:15 (believe me, 8:15 it is GONE). I got no food other than the shrimp and crab I spoke to the manager who wanted to make it right by offering us another buffet but we were heading out in the AM We settled on a bottle of (cheap) wine but the manager gave us two If you plan on eating here, check the hours When we left, I looked around and didn't see hours posted.
