When you go and get a braider you really like it's not hard to book with them in the future, so keep that in mind. The girl did my hair this time looked really young though so attribute it to that. One other thing the main reason for taking off the star is the chair. My first time I sat in a different location in the salon they have a few suites, and the chair I sat in this time was night and day. The first time I had a super comfortable luxurious seat. This time the chair was as step up from a folding chair comfort wise which is VERY important when you're sitting for hours and extremely noticable since I was there longer. Mimi please don't skimp on the quality of your chairs, it really matters. There are a lot of good braiders in the chicagoland area and mimi's professonalism and nice location is why I go 40 minutes from my home to her location. Please don't skimp on those nice little touches it matters when deciding where to go.

I received a reply stating to go ahead and book and she would make a note that I'd only like to be paired with Adwoa. I thanked her and attempted to book but could not bypass the question for the Braider so I put anyone available. When I book, I always answer the question No to being paired with someone else if need be. I received several confirmation texts and emails with my appointment time for 5:30 pm with Adwoa. The day of my visit at 12:11 pm I received a text with an appointment reminder with Pokes. That same day at 2:30 pm I was asked to come at 4:30 pm which I agreed. At 2:55 pm I then received another text with an appointment reminder for Helena at 4pm. At that point I decided to keep my 4:30 pm because I would not have made the 4pm which I'm glad I did because she was still busy with another customer and did not get to me until 5pm. That is 2 changes to the Braider and 2 changes to the time. When I asked the Booker about all the changes and why I was rescheduled with 2 different people she said sometimes there are issues and they have to switch Braiders. She then asked if I listed on the appointment slip that I did not want to be paired with someone else and I told her Yes. She pulled up the appointment and showed me that I had requested anyone available but I explained to her that I was not able to leave that part blank because Adwoa was not listed on the drop down menu and that she had said she would make sure I was paired with Adwoa. She did apologize but that was not enough. She should have remembered my request or once I arrived, explained to me why I had been switched around and rescheduled. Although Helena did a good job on my hair, I think that this was a major miscommunication issue. I did reach out to Mimi as she requested before you do a review, but after more than 24 hours not hearing back from her, I decided to go ahead and do the review even though I was reluctant. I have been to this shop many times but this really disappointed and frustrated me that it was handled so poorly.

UPDATED 02.17.2020…read more Our experience at Great Clips was not what we expected for a brand that is well-known. My husband decided to get a haircut on a Sunday afternoon with a coupon we received in the mail. He usually gets a #4 on the sides and just a trim on the top, but since his hair is usually cut shorter than he would prefer, he decided to go with a #5 on the sides and a trim on the top. His hairstylist was Sabrina. She started cutting his hair and it looked okay initially. Then she started to do the top and she kept telling him that he wouldn't be able to do his usual hairstyle if he went too short with the top. I didn't think he was asking for too much off the top and she ended up acquiescing to his continued requests of it being a little shorter. When she asked for the length of his sideburns, he said that he wanted them about 1/2 the current length. She seemed to do one side fine, but he had to tell her to fix it later because they were uneven (one was quite a bit shorter than the other). In order to fix the side burns, she had to cut up higher than the length he wanted - now it looks like he really doesn't have side burns at all. To top that all off, Sabrina started with some hair humor, which when the hair cut already doesn't look like what you want is not really funny. At the end of the haircut, my husband's hair looked somewhat uneven but we were assured that when he washed it and styled it, it would look fine. When we returned home and washed it, you could clearly tell how completely uneven and unblended one side of his hair was. The front of the top side was longer and then it got shorter in the back, and you can see clearly where the #5 clippers ends at the top of his head. The back is not blended well either. He will be returning today to get it fixed by another hair stylist because this is absolutely not what we paid for. I will post another update once he's home. UPDATE: We returned to this location to get my husband's hair fixed. The stylist was able to accommodate us immediately even though there was about a 30 minute wait. She noted that Sabrina had gone too short underneath and on the sides, which made the top hair too long. She kindly and quickly fixed the clearly evident blending issues and the shape of the back neck. Adriana, thank you for your help and we will return only for you in the future.

All the stylists are incredibly nice, talented, and up-to-date on the latest styles. They all attend hair shows and still take classes, which I LOVE! I recently got the shilac non-chip manicure done also and love it! My favorite stylist is Jen Arias. Honestly, I have been going to her for years and have trusted her with my locks under the most extreme occasions, even when I was undergoing chemotherapy. She has been there for me through thick hair and thin hair, very short hair, and very long hair. She was there for me on my sister's wedding day and my wedding day with nine bridesmaids when the salon was supposed to be closed. She's been there when I went through a divorce and needed to feel good again. She recommends the best and right products and gives me the best cuts for my hair type. After chemo, my hair grew back thick and curly thanks to Jen. Also, Jen is a miracle worker when it comes to color. She is the color queen! In my experience, my hair does not hold color well due to the medication I am on. However, Jen uses a combo of tones to give my hair this awesome, red velvet RED. There is not a day that goes by that I don't receive compliments about my gorgeous, luscious RED hair. Recently, Jen cut about 10 inches of my long thick hair off and completely changed my old look to an updated chic inverted bob that I can wear straight or luckily, curly! We also like to play with my color a bit. Yes, it is still an awesome shade of RED, but with chunky deeper red low-lights. It is GORGEOUS and SUPER CHIC! I have been getting even MORE compliments everywhere I go, and everyone wants to know who does my hair. I have had to write the salon, their phone number and Jen's name down on the back of my business card for people I don't even know! Jen is kind, beautiful, talented, and takes her career seriously. She helps give me confidence, by making me look good and feel good about myself. I will always trust Jen with my self-esteem and my hair. :)
