We're from California and the previous summer had booked a yacht through Lake Travis Yacht Rentals, which was an okay experience. I booked with the same company for her bachelorette weekend and 2 days before we were supposed to leave for the trip they had to change our boat from a yacht to a pontoon due to engine issues. I was scrambling to secure another yacht ahead of the busy weekend and happened to find Steven's Charter. Not only did they accommodate a last-minute booking, but they also created an unforgettable experience for our entire party. To say the boat was an upgrade from the summer before is an understatement at best. The boat has been under the same ownership for 20+ years and has been well taken care of. There was a spacious upper deck as well as an enclosed lower deck complete with several bedrooms, bathrooms, and a full kitchen. Absolutely stunning. This is a family-run business and their communication with you is impeccable. I had all of the information I needed leading up to the charter as well as consistent day of communication. Captain Rodney and his crew met us in the parking lot to drive us and all of our stuff down to the dock where we boarded the boat. The charter we chose was 4 hours and within that time the captain and crew took care of everything. They fetched us drinks and food while we lounged on the boat or in the water. They helped take pictures and document our entire experience - they truly went above and beyond. Our entire party felt incredibly safe on the boat especially when an unexpected thunderstorm hit. They handled it like the pros they are. Huge thanks to Captain Rodney, his beautiful wife Cher, Fraizer and CiCi for making our weekend truly memorable. We can't wait to book with you again!

My hubby and I have been yearning for the sailing life for literal years now, and we decided that…read morethis summer was the perfect time to start making that dream a reality by taking the first sailing course, ASA 101! Our initial thought was to find a sailing school in Kemah, but I wondered if there was one closer to us, and, sure enough, there is! Enter Outbound Sailing on Lake Travis. We scheduled our class right away online, and the manager, Sean, confirmed with us almost immediately. Both he and Tim, the business owner, were absolute pleasures to work with! When the day finally came for Day 1 of our ASA 101 course, we headed over to Lakeway to meet our instructor, Spencer, at the dock, and, y'all, he is seriously the most open, sweet, encouraging, and engaging person ever, and that's not hyperbole! I was extremely nervous about the whole thing, but he immediately made me feel INCREDIBLY at ease, and, we got straight to work! From beginning to end, hubby and I knew that Spencer had our backs, from the dock talks to the rigging talks to the knot talks to the hours of beautiful practice sailing. He made all of that hard work feel like pure fun! Make no mistake, though, y'all! It IS hard work, and you need to know that going in! It's an actual class, so don't expect mimosas and charcuterie boards as you sail! LOL! You need to Really. Want. To. Learn. How. To. Sail. We did, so we were all in! Pro tip: When they tell you to buy the official ASA book for the course and to study it PRIOR to the class, take them seriously! Study, and especially commit the Points of Sail and the sailboat, sails, and rigging parts to memory. Also, do the 4 review sections! It'll all make things a lot easier on you! There's a 100 multiple choice question official ASA exam that you take on the morning of Day 2, and, while Spencer was a GENIUS at preparing us for it, we were able to spend more time actually sailing because of how prepared we made ourselves ahead of time! After two intense and awesome days, hubby and I both ended up passing the course to become ASA 101 certified (yay!), but, most importantly, we truly had the time of our lives doing it, and we absolutely have Spencer LeGrande and Outbound Sailing to thank for that!

Our party had 30 people and we rented 3 boats with Alpha Boat Rentals. Chris is the owner of the business and throughout the process very easy and put me at ease since we had such a big group. What drew me to Alpha Boat Rentals was all the great reviews, but Chris is such a great guy and he gave us a great deal and helped me find transportation from the Fairmont Hotel and back. We used a company called Fetii and paid for 3 shuttles and unfortunately, only 2 showed up and we ended up losing time on the lake and that didn't make us happy. We also got to the Lake and some of the other business owners that had their own tours screwed us out of time as well because we couldn't dock for almost 30 minutes. Captains for each boat were nice, but the only thing that we didn't like was they put us in an area by ourselves and we didn't link up with other boats. This would have made our trip more enjoyable, but we still had a blast. In closing, if it wasn't for Chris, I wouldn't have given them 5 stars. Price was reasonable considering my family and I booked last minute (the day of) we were happy to even get a pontoon a couple of hours before on a beautiful Saturday! Our captain Dustin was the most chill and awesome captain. We were iffy at first because we just wanted to have a good time with no captain but he was so laid back and very accommodating he made it all worth it. Because of him this is the only boat rental we would ever want to return to! We got the Pontoon that was able to fit our whole family (10 adults and 2 kids) plus the captain. There was plenty of room for all of us. There was an option to have their cooler on the boat, but we had our own so we opted out. The Pontoon had a lilly pad and noodles which was free of charge for you to enjoy. Getting to the dock is a little confusing. Just look for the 3 flags and drive down to park. There is no check-in office. Your captain should be waiting for you with your boat. This is probably the prime spot for a boat rental and I can't wait to go back to rent from here! We were never asked if this would be ok with us and it would have been appropriate for them to have mentioned it when booking the rental, maybe even offered a discount. The rental fee was not cheap! * Lily pad was torn and had holes in it. After the four hours ended and knowing gratuity was included in the price, we still gave the guys an additional tip because we felt it wasn't their fault for poor management.

We had such an amazing time on Lake Travis thanks to Willo and Float On. Everything about the…read moreexperience was extremely streamlined from booking to filling out waivers to navigating to the marina. Willo gave superb instructions on operating and piloting the boat including an overview of relevant customs and laws while out on the water. Our group had six adults and one 2-year old and they had plenty of water safety devices for all ages. On a side note, it was wonderful to see how genuinely excited Willo was about Lake Travis once again having a healthy water level after several dry years. In terms of our experience on the lake, we got excellent advice on where to travel based on our team's interests and after following his directions it felt like we had arrived on our own private lake. We probably only saw a handful of other boats during our 3-hour excursion and that was only in passing. The boat came with a Garmin GPS that made it really easy to retrace our steps. For those wondering, there was excellent cell phone service out on the lake and we were able to use our phone GPS, make calls, and stream music. The boat had some nice integrated speakers with Bluetooth connectivity and we were able to jam out to our own tunes. There was also a cool flotation device attached to the back of the boat called the Aqua Lily Pad which we unrolled after anchoring, we had multiple adults laying on it without sinking into the lake. Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience and we would highly recommend booking with Float On.
