I planned my celebration around that experience. At 11am the day of my 3pm reservation, I got a call saying there was an engine issue and that I was being moved to a "better" boat. When we arrived, it was clear that it wasn't (Shaken not Stirred). It may have been newer or had a bigger engine, but it had a completely different layout and vibe, which was exactly what I booked for. If this had been the option when I booked, I would have chosen a different boat or looked at other rental companies. What disappointed me most was the response. Before I even asked about a refund or discussed any possible solutions, one of the owners immediately said, "You're not getting a refund." At that point, I wasn't asking for one. I just wanted to understand my options. That set a defensive tone instead of a customer-centered one. I completely understand that mechanical issues can happen, and I don't fault a company for something unexpected. What I do expect is transparency, empathy, and some attempt to make it right. There was no sincere apology, no acknowledgment of the disappointment, and no offer to accommodate despite the last-minute change. My friends encouraged me to go ahead so we wouldn't lose the day, and we still had fun, but that was because of the people I was with and Captain Neil, who was professional and excellent. Before we left, the owners asked us not to leave a bad review, which felt disappointing given that the focus could have been on making things right. I left feeling dismissed and like I paid full price for an experience I did not choose. I can't confidently recommend this company based on how this was handled. If you do book, I'd encourage asking up front what happens if the boat you've reserved becomes unavailable and to be prepared for the possibility of last-minute changes.

We booked this boat ride for a birthday, so it was meant to be a special experience. Overall, the…read morescenery was beautiful and the ride itself was enjoyable, but there were several issues that took away from what should have been a smooth private charter experience. The communication beforehand was not great. The driver texted me the night before around 7:45 PM, and when I replied immediately with concerns about the weather and rain, I didn't receive a response until after 10 PM. The email also stated that the driver would contact us 15-30 minutes before the reservation time, but that never happened. Our reservation was from 9:00-11:00 AM. When we arrived at 9:00, no one was there, so I had to text the driver myself. He responded saying he was getting the boat ready and putting gas in it. In my opinion, those things should have been done ahead of time so guests are properly greeted and the ride can begin on time. When we boarded, the seats and boat were still wet from the rain. Since it was chilly outside, sitting in wet seats for a two-hour ride left our clothes damp and uncomfortable. To give credit where it's due, the driver was friendly and enjoyable to talk to during parts of the ride. However, he also took phone calls during the charter, which felt distracting during what was supposed to be a private birthday outing. The biggest disappointment came on the ride back. The driver stopped to assist another boat that had already said help was on the way. He tied their boat to ours and pulled them in, which significantly took away from the private experience we had paid for. While helping others is kind, it felt inappropriate during a paid private charter, especially one booked for a birthday celebration. Additionally, the trip ran later than scheduled, and there was never any communication about the delay. Our reservation was clearly scheduled for 9-11 AM, and it shouldn't be assumed guests are okay with going over time simply because the ride started late. People may have plans afterward, and communication would have gone a long way. Overall, the lake itself was beautiful and parts of the experience were enjoyable, but the lack of communication, late start, wet boat, interruptions, and detour during our private charter made the experience fall short of expectations.

Our friend had booked the Valhalla 2 in May for an afternoon on the lake in early July. The friend who booked noticed a week before the trip that the Valhalla 2 no longer appeared on the website (http://www.valhallayachtrentals.com), only the Valhalla 1 and Valhalla 3 were available. He sent an email to the owner (Scott Andrews) to confirm that the boat was still available and the owner replied that we were "all good" and had "no reason to worry". See attached screenshot for evidence of this email conversation. On the day of our afternoon rental (July 3), we showed up well ahead of our scheduled 2 pm departure time to check in and load food/drinks from the parking lot. Around 2:00, the captain pulled into the slip with the previous group on the Valhalla 3. We noticed that this was not the boat we had booked and asked the captain what had happened with the original boat (Valhalla 2). The captain was confused but informed us that Valhalla 2 was unavailable and that our 20 person group would fit just fine on the Valhalla 3. The captain also informed us that the bathroom was out of service on the Valhalla 3 and that we'd need to wait until rafting up with Valhalla 1 to use their bathroom (so 1 toilet for the combined parties of ~40 people). At this point we asked for a discount on the Valhalla 3 as it was not the boat we had rented and was not in full working condition. The discount was verbally agreed upon and we began to board the Valhalla 3 with our supplies. While we were boarding, another group of ~20 came onto the dock and indicated that they had booked the Valhalla 3 for the same timeslot. Since we booked the Valhalla 2 and they booked the Valhalla 3, we now had two groups for one available boat. At that point we were on the phone with the owner and the owner decided that the other group should get the Valhalla 3 since he didn't like our attitude. He asked us to leave the boat and threatened to have security remove us forcefully, but we disembarked without confrontation as we didn't want to hold up the other group. During that process, we learned that the Valhalla 2 had apparently sunk a few weeks before (which itself is sketchy) so the owner certainly knew that the boat was unavailable well in advance and just flatly lied to us a week before by confirming availability (again, see screenshot as evidence). He also initially refused to refund us and has still refused to admit responsibility for the situation (double-booking one of his boats) despite him being the sole proprietor of this rental company. Instead, he has tried to cover his reputation by attempting to have our truthful reviews removed and claiming that we deserved this treatment because we were "disrespectful", "belligerent", and "verbally abusive". As a witness to the entirety of the conversation had on the dock, I can confirm that none of these labels are remotely true. While we were frustrated by the situation caused by the owner's negligence, at no point was there any yelling or derogatory language directed from our group towards the captain or owner. The owner has also claimed that we were "removed by security", which is also completely false. We left the boat with our supplies once we realized this was a no-win situation for us and out of respect for the other group. Other rental companies tried to get us a last-minute charter, but unfortunately there was no availability so we cut our losses and left around 4. To summarize, the owner of Valhalla Yacht Rentals (Scott Andrews) failed to inform us that the boat we had booked was no longer available. He failed to admit any responsibility for his mistake then or now. And he has failed to show any personal integrity, instead responding with hostility and spewing lies about the actions of our group. Let Scott enjoy his remaining floating toys on his own and take your rental business elsewhere.

We had a group of 20 people from all over the country fly to Austin for a going away event as well…read moreas to celebrate the 4th of July as a group for what could be the last time. Our group's organizer rented this charter two months in advance. Around 2 weeks ago, our organizer noticed the boat he reserved was no longer listed on the rental site so he emailed to confirm everything was ok. Scott responded yes. However, we arrive at the dock and find only one boat there. To our confusion, we were told that this was our boat even though it was smaller than the one we reserved. The captain then informs us that the boat we reserved SANK one month ago. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TOLD. ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. The captain then tells us to get on the boat, however at that moment a second party shows up saying that they also reserved that same boat. The captain now realizes that the boat was double booked and is then told by Scott to kick us off to accommodate the second group, claiming that we were disrespecting the captain. He called security to remove us after we had already voluntarily gotten off the boat and said he wasn't issuing a refund for a boat that sank A MONTH AGO. To say that we were acting belligerent and disrespectful to your captain is a blatant attempt to save face; we had no issues with security and we expressed to the captain several times that we understood the error was not his fault and we appreciated the effort he put in to try to rectify the situation. If anything, you disrespected him yourself by leaving him to handle an error of this magnitude alone, especially considering you were on the premises the whole time and could have spoken to us in person. You're scrambling for an excuse because you didn't have a boat for us either due to negligence, incompetence or wanting to keep over a thousand dollars that you took for a service that you were fully aware you could no longer provide. On top of all that, you're gonna call us a liability when you can't even keep your own boats afloat. Homie says he's been in business 7 years but only got 4 reviews. Not surprised why, absolutely disgraceful way to manage a business. P.S. I included a picture of us being disrespectful and belligerent to the captain (in the red shirt, thank you again for trying!). We were also interested in wake boarding and had never tried before. Our captain (Keaton) was very patient with us and also very helpful with instructions. He was also great with showing us points of interest. All in all we had an awesome day and can't wait to rent from these folks again!
