Only problem was, the playground was closed for renovations. Nicole and her team didn't let us know that the playground was closed although they arrived on-site 2 hours earlier. When I arrived, I had to scramble with the team to move the setup to the park next-door. Everything was OK at the end and even some of our guests offered help. One of the main reason we book with Nicole is that when things go wrong, I'd like her to step up and resolve them. But instead, she CHARGED US $300 for moving to the next playground. Wow, we were expecting apology, not a $300 bill. Even if you are a repeating and happy client of Nicole (like us), I advise you to start looking for more professional services with other organizers. We appreciate the many events she helped us until she dropped the ball completely and insulted us by charging us extra afterwards. -- Nicole responded by saying that they couldn't have foresaw that the playground was closed. This is false as her team showed me that they sent Nicole messages and videos of playground being closed before they setup anything. They could have communicated this with us earlier and moved to This is beyond surprising on how Nicole handles unexpected cases. Instead of trying to prove she is right, it would have been easier to say "shit happens" and make it right... Very surprising and weak response.

I'm still kind of shocked by her ability to make things happen so quickly with amazing taste and the warmest and friendliest approach. I first discovered Events n Chill (formerly Picnic n Chill) on a CNBC segment and thought it would be a great idea for some sort of special event. When it came time to thinking of a way to propose to my then-girlfriend, Events n Chill was still bouncing around in my head so I looked into more details about their Proposal package. Although the cost is pretty steep, Events n Chill were very quick to respond with options, as well as addressing any additional questions I had. Appointments are booked and paid for through their website, and additional follow-ups and requests are quickly addressed through email. In addition to the package itself, they offer a variety of additional add-ons for additional costs. But even without any addition items, the "basic" setup that comes with your selected package is still gorgeous and personalized to your request. On the day of, you'll receive a text with a drop-pin with the GPS location of your picnic setup. Since it was a proposal and I obviously wanted it to be a surprised, they did an amazing job getting all the details of my request down including having a photographer that popped out of nowhere (she was very well hidden) right as I got down on one knee to propose. Queuing up the music as we approached the carpet. As well as personalized signage displayed and ready to go. Oh, and she said YES! Jocelyn did a really great jobs with the pictures, and was professional and engaging throughout. She was great in suggesting different poses, selecting areas and angles with better lighting, and making us feel at ease while she snapped away. The only complaint we had about the entire process was how long it took to eventually get all of our photos. While Jocelyn was quick to send a selection of photos she took that day, we noted there were several key shots that were omitted from the album provided. Follow-up emails and texts asking if she could release a few more pictures sadly went completely unanswered for over 2 weeks before thankfully, she responded and shared the entire portfolio of pictures taken that day.

I didn't know her before this, but her warmth and humor created such an easy, welcoming vibe. We painted on tote bags -- and I am usually the "not artistic" friend -- but Deepa made it so simple, fun, and pressure-free that I ended up completely absorbed in it. My whole team loved it, and everyone walked away really proud of what they created. Food was perfect and low-lift: pizza from Curry Pizza House and apps + salad+ kebabs from Falafel Tazah, all set up seamlessly so we could just relax, paint, and talk. Most importantly, it gave our team the kind of genuine bonding time that's rare. People laughed, shared, and actually unwound -- no forced activities, just real connection. I can't recommend Canvas & Café enough for team events, celebrations, or a fun night out. 5/5 -- we'll definitely be back !!!

The studio doubles as an event venue so I've seen random stuff happening inside whenever I'm taking a stroll in this peaceful plaza. I found a Groupon for the paint night experience that was a pretty fair deal. The instructions to schedule the session were a little unclear, but we basically had to directly email the business owner. To be honest, it was a little rough trying to figure out when I could book our appointment and whether we were confirmed, as the instructions seemed to be somewhere in between "drop in on a day that we're open" to "confirm the actual day you're coming in" (with times that completely differed than what's noted on the website). I had to poke Deepa, the owner, to get an answer a couple of times. After praying that we weren't going to be shooed away despite my communication about our arrival, we came in to our instructor, Matt, preparing the area. He wasn't aware that we were going to be in the class, so we all started late because it took some extra time set up our table, chairs, easels, paints, etc. While waiting, we enjoyed the surprise small bites and entertainment from Matt's dog. This paint night differed from my other experiences in that we got to collectively pick a painting to do (with the other attendees), which was a little awkward because I don't think everyone was in 100% agreement. Throughout the session, Matt was great. He was patient, gentle, kind, with random funny moments. He was very helpful in supplying paints, giving tips, and encouraging us to add personal touches to our piece. I liked how intimate the class was, with a smaller number of people than I've seen before (albeit my prior experiences were at work or sponsored engagements). It was hilarious seeing how varied me and my friends' paintings were - we loved it. I got impatient and used a medium brush instead of a finer size for the reeds, so they got everywhere. The smaller, thin canvases are a manageable size, and I'd enjoy coming here again while hoping for a better streamlined way of scheduling our participation!
