We hosted a team event at Canvas & Café, and within three hours I genuinely felt like I had made a new friend in Deepa, the owner. I didn't know her before this, but her warmth and humor created such an easy, welcoming vibe. We painted on tote bags -- and I am usually the "not artistic" friend -- but Deepa made it so simple, fun, and pressure-free that I ended up completely absorbed in it. My whole team loved it, and everyone walked away really proud of what they created. Food was perfect and low-lift: pizza from Curry Pizza House and apps + salad+ kebabs from Falafel Tazah, all set up seamlessly so we could just relax, paint, and talk. Most importantly, it gave our team the kind of genuine bonding time that's rare. People laughed, shared, and actually unwound -- no forced activities, just real connection. I can't recommend Canvas & Café enough for team events, celebrations, or a fun night out. 5/5 -- we'll definitely be back !!! read more

Paint night as a group of four friends was really fun here, and I was additionally pumped that Canvas and Cafe is just a short walk away from my apartment! The studio doubles as an event venue so I've seen random stuff happening inside whenever I'm taking a stroll in this peaceful plaza. I found a Groupon for the paint night experience that was a pretty fair deal. The instructions to schedule the session were a little unclear, but we basically had to directly email the business owner. To be honest, it was a little rough trying to figure out when I could book our appointment and whether we were confirmed, as the instructions seemed to be somewhere in between "drop in on a day that we're open" to "confirm the actual day you're coming in" (with times that completely differed than what's noted on the website). I had to poke Deepa, the owner, to get an answer a couple of times. After praying that we weren't going to be shooed away despite my communication about our arrival, we came in to our instructor, Matt, preparing the area. He wasn't aware that we were going to be in the class, so we all started late because it took some extra time set up our table, chairs, easels, paints, etc. While waiting, we enjoyed the surprise small bites and entertainment from Matt's dog. This paint night differed from my other experiences in that we got to collectively pick a painting to do (with the other attendees), which was a little awkward because I don't think everyone was in 100% agreement. Throughout the session, Matt was great. He was patient, gentle, kind, with random funny moments. He was very helpful in supplying paints, giving tips, and encouraging us to add personal touches to our piece. I liked how intimate the class was, with a smaller number of people than I've seen before (albeit my prior experiences were at work or sponsored engagements). It was hilarious seeing how varied me and my friends' paintings were - we loved it. I got impatient and used a medium brush instead of a finer size for the reeds, so they got everywhere. The smaller, thin canvases are a manageable size, and I'd enjoy coming here again while hoping for a better streamlined way of scheduling our participation! read more

I booked this paint and sip experience through Groupon. It was a total of seven of us for my brother's birthday. We wanted a unique experience and none of us have done this before. When we walked in Matt our instructor was very welcoming along with his little dog Griffin. It took a while for us all to agree on the image we wanted to paint. He was so patient. He then walked us through each step and came around to make sure that we were on track and understood the next step. He encouraged us even when we were unsure of ourselves which helped us to push through. This was a great experience and a fun idea for a birthday celebration. It was worth every penny. My son is an ADULT and he wanted a memorable event for his Birthday with his friends from college, highschool (even Middleschool!) So, I arranged to have these guys all get together at Netra Arts in Foster City. (we only had 8 in our party) The price was reasonable and worth every penny in restrospect. Deepa gave step by step instructions for the recreating of the painting my son selected. Also...Deepa provided gourmet snacks & wine & homemade scones throughout the event! The guys followed Deepa's painting instructions closely...some embellished, LOL. I wasn't sure how grown men would enjoy this type of venue, lol. I was so pleased & happy that it all came together so flawlessly, so enjoyable, and presented so impecably by Deepa that I literally cried!! The guys had such fun painting, drinking wine, eating & creating their masterpiece for almost 3 hrs. My family had an absolute blast doing a painting party at Canvas and Cafe/Netra Art Studio! We couldn't have found a better activity or a better arrangement to host a family birthday party for my sister's 50th (there were nine of us, spanning three generations.) They kindly provided snacks and drinks, and we were able to supplement with our own charcuterie board, cupcakes and flowers for my sister's birthday. Deepa was very responsive, helpful and accommodating when it came to planning and scheduling, since we had a lot of logistics to figure out. It was also short notice, so we were lucky to find her, and very fortunate that she had an opening for us! And, different than other painting parties I've been to, we were able to choose what we painted, and what we painted on! Our extremely talented and wonderful instructor, Matt, was a fabulous painting guide and so patient with us! He gave us assistance whenever needed, and allowed extra time to finish since some of us were faster than others. We also ended up spending far more time socializing than I expected; it was just such a wonderful environment to hang out in! My family is a casual bunch, ranging in age from 12 to 81, with varying artistic abilities and painting speeds, and Matt was a perfect fit for us. He even helped my nephew with an architecture project he was working on, which we were so appreciative of. We also very much enjoyed his sweet little pup. :) The painting party was such a rich and joyful experience that every one of my family members thoroughly enjoyed! I booked the event through Deepa, the founder, who was so friendly and helpful throughout the process. On the day of the event, the food, paint easels, and supplies were ready when we arrived. The studio was bright and filled with great examples of past painting sessions. Deepa and the instructor Ilia gave us tips on how to start our painting, combine colors, use the different brushes, and paint with different brush strokes. There was one carafe of Starbucks coffee. The woman pointed the picture for the first time along with us. The day of she upped the price to include 15% tip.
