Cannot wait to join CSA. Festival this Sunday at Snipes Farm with organic fare for lunch. Organic, non-gmo farm. The only one in the area.

This farmer's market is short and sweet, only open one day per week, Wednesdays from 4:00pm to…read more7:00pm and it is seasonal, from Spring until the last Wednesday in October, rain or shine. Playwicki Farm was once a rich farm growing their own crops and selling them roadside, this farm no longer grows crops but allows the local farmers and artisans to sell their wares and locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. During these three hours locals fill the park buying locally grown produce, fresh baked breads and sweets, homemade and all natural dog and cat treats, quiches, handmade jewelry and so much more. This was their first year and it was extremely successful and grew week by week with more vendors adding tables to sell even more, like homemade pickles, flowers and herbs, all natural soaps and soy candles. I found myself here almost every week and I was so happy to see that folks really do care about supporting the local farmer's, to me there is nothing better than buying the freshest local corn or just picked tomatoes, juicy strawberries and fruits. The coolest thing about the farmer's market at Playwicki Farm is it is on land that's' use dates back to prehistoric 6500 BC with archaeological finds and then through the period of contact of native American Indians and European colonists. Three circular buildings have been unearthed as well and they are still digging, Henry Mercer did the first investigation in 1893, Temple University, the Heritage Conservancy as well as other known groups of interest have on the 100 plus acres of land that belongs to the Playwicki Farm. The park is dog friendly and pretty well poop free due to many poop stations that encourage owners to scoop the poop! Miles of safe and friendly hiking, jogging or biking trails. Scheduled activities are always happening here such as flea markets, fun days and over the Christmas season, trees are brightly sparkling and sleigh rides end with hot chocolate and cookies for everyone and this is free with advance notice. This month alone, they had face painting, hay rides, pie contests, nature walks, scarecrow making and pumpkins to paint. The old farmhouse and buildings still stand as well and can be rented out for peanuts. The farm is literally right around the corner from my home and it is one cool park, I wonder what they will unearth next?

I've had nothing but an amazing experience at Churchville since moving here back in 2021. Kim has…read morealways been so patient and amazing! She always puts the care of the horse first and foremost and I cannot be more grateful for that! I always feel like I can rest easy at night knowing I have my horses in such trustworthy hands. The property is well kept, my horses well fed, and the stalls are clean. I couldn't be any happier and I highly recommend Churchville as an amazing barn choice to board at!

My experience is from two years ago but it seems that nothing has changed so I hope that by sharing…read moremy unfortunate experience no one else's horse will have to suffer the way my horse did. Made the mistake of boarding here and in the 5 months my horse was there he dropped over 60 pounds. I was alarmed that my healthy horse was dropping weight and wanted to have the vet look at him. It was then that I found out that all vet appointments have to be booked through the owner Kim (who has a full time job outside of the barn). I asked on at least four occasions that the vet examine him. Somehow I had always "just missed the vet" when I arrived to talk to him so any "information" was filtered through the owner - who always said the vet looked at my horse and he was fine. When I moved my horse I called the vet to ask for my horses' records and the only record they had was his fall shots. I NEVER received a bill from the vet after all the times I was told that my horse had an appointment. Clearly I was lied to every time I was told that the vet was coming to look at him. Thankfully a stall opened at a facility closer to me (I had been on a waiting list), when I informed Kim she became hostile and made sure I remembered that I had to give 30 days notice, she was only interested in money. The day of the move she was openly hostile toward me and my friend who trailered. She refused to give extra hay for the drive - even though I had paid for his hay for a month and moved him after only a week. I moved my horse as quickly as possible because I was worried about how he would be treated since he was leaving. If possible I would have given Churchville Farm ZERO stars. This facility may look pretty from the outside however its only interest is money not the care for horses.

I really enjoyed getting my produce from Philly Foodworks while living in Philadelphia. I went for…read morethe subscription box and it was almost always full of a variety of perfectly ripe fruits and veggies. Once in a while I would get something that was not as fresh, but it was very rare. Philly Foodworks is unique among csa-type distributors because they have a full online grocery store you can shop from, whether you're getting a produce box or not. I was able to get almost all of my groceries each week from Philly Foodworks with their numerous options. If you shop around, you can find really affordable items as well. Subscriptions for eggs, dairy, and meat offer further discounts. In general, I ended up spending as much, or a tad less, than I would for the same items from an actual grocery store. I only ever shopped online, but I believe they also have a store front you can go to if that option is better for you. They deliver right to your doorstep for a small fee and the actual process of getting groceries/subscriptions was always a breeze. The quality of the food cannot be overstated. Once you go direct from the farm, it's hard to go back to the tasteless big-box grocery store produce. The eggs and milk were also amazing, as was the beef. Last but not least, they're a great organization with increasing access, sustainability, and regenerative farming practices at the root of everything they do.

The quality is unmatched and when I say you can taste the difference I mean. I had never tasted carrots as fresh or potato's with so much flavor. Things you don't realize when you are used to big box store imported low quality produce. It's also a huge relief to not have to worry every time there is a new listeria recall on items. This was huge for me during the cucumber and tomato's recalls two summers ago as I was pregnant and would only eat produce from Phillyfoodworks. I also appreciate the variety of other options they provide. The fresh pasta is delicious and Im a huge fan of the chicken sausages. The customer service is also great and very responsive. It's also nice to know you are supporting the community and with it receiving top notch quality items. Lastly they deliver! It is super convenient and just makes life easier.
