The best eye doctor I have ever been to. He won't sell or charge you for the stuff you don't need. He will also educate you about your eyes. He will also let you make important decision like this one: If you want the sharpest vision(more than 20/20 vision), he will have you give more powerful lenses. Then, your body adapts to the new lenses, and you will have to keep upgrading your lenses every few years to keep your vision that way. But, by accepting a little less sharper vision(still 20/20 vision), your eyes will stabilize and you won't have to keep upgrading your lenses. It is a trade off I am willing to take. Of course, people like pilots will need sharper vision. But, most don't. My previous eye doctor would just give me highest lenses and I had to keep going back every few years. My total out of pocket pay is about $70 after insurance for eye exams and new pair of glasses (frame + lenses). In my previous optometries, I paid like $150+ or more. I would recommend him to everyone. read more

Not knowing what to expect, I chose to come here because of the awesome reviews and I'm glad I did. The Optometrist, Dr. Hwang is great! He's detailed and experienced in what he does and made me feel comfortable right away. I didn't even know my eyeglasses were not the correct vision and that would explain the headaches I've gotten. After a visit with him I walked away with a much clearer perspective, literally! Also, he gave me a free pack of contact lenses which is very accommodating. Didn't try to up-sell me like some places. I usually go to an optomotrist back in my hometown, but there wasn't any available appointments. I made one the week of, with love optometry no problem and I must say everything about my experience here was organized and effecient. I first visited Dr. Hwang about a year ago to deal with a persistent eye infection and since then, my experience here at the love optometry has been nothing but positive. I have been wearing glasses since I was a little kid and have visited many different optometry for my glasses and contact needs. I can say with great certainty that Dr. Hwang is by far the most helpful and detail oriented optometrist I have ever visited. He will not only help you take care of whatever eye issue that needs to be dealt with, but he will also tell you about all the ways to prevent such problems in the future. I love Dr. Hwang! Before I started working full-time and making my own money, I vowed that I would find an eye doctor that I truly enjoy going to, since the ones my parents sent me to were all terrible and made the experience miserable (seriously, who likes getting air blown into their eyes?) I've seen Dr. Hwang twice already and the location of his practice is very conveniently located for me off of Yale and Trabuco. His office always smells great, feels clean, and I can honestly say I look forward to going to going to my eye appointments every year now. In the past, I've only had my eye vision increased higher without doctors really telling me how to prevent and help my eyesight get better. From the start, Dr. Hwang has focused on therapy and helping my eyes get better, rather than just focusing on immediate relief. He is an excellent doctor who will do his best to accommodate you and has a great, friendly, and very helpful staff. I would recommend anyone to go see him. Just like the previous reviewer before me, he will also perform other necessary tests to make sure you are getting the right exams you need for your help. I've worn glasses for over 20 years and has had many optometrists. None of them was as good as Dr. Hwang. He is very knowledgeable and up to date on the new technology. He's enthusiastic and passionate about his practice and cares for his patients. During his comprehensive eye exam, he also explains what he's doing. The doctor is very nice. I called him one day and said I needed contacts ASAP because I was all out. He told me to come on by later that day and he would help me out. He gave me a couple pairs free of charge until I could come back for an appointment. I feel like my mediocre insurance goes a long way here. Wow! My experience with this eye doctor was outstanding! Comparing him to every optometrist/ophthalmologist I have dealt with (over 15+/since 1965), he is, by far, the best doctor ever! He is friendly, caring, helpful, professional, thorough and very knowledgeable/intelligent. I am most impressed by his compassion. He "runs circles around" many optometrists, especially the ones in the Irvine area. My son feels the same way about Dr. Hwang. I would like to take this moment to thank Dr. Hwang.
