I visited Love Sushi while in Jefferson City for work on the recommendation of a local. The restaurant is charmingly small and cozy with K-pop on TV. There are also Korean dishes on the menu like bibimbap and sweet potato noodles (our local colleague's favorite). I wanted a little bit of everything so I got a bento box. I got a couple nigiri for my sushi fix, but the teriyaki salmon was nicely cooked too. Others at the table enjoyed their meals but the one who got the lobster roll said there was little lobster in it. The people were nice and it was a nice change from the chains. read more

It's gone downhill over the years. Our last visit was borderline inedible. Slightly dirty. Service was not too great to top it off. Columbia has some great spots. I wish Jeff City could obtain some of those also. read more

I was in town for a work trip and decided to go out for sushi. This place did not disappoint! The sushi was seriously SO GOOD!!! And I'm a very picky sushi eater. When I first walked in, there was really nowhere to stand and not look awkward while waiting to be seated. Also, there is no sign that tells you if you should seat yourself or wait to be seated. As info, you wait to be seated. It's a small restaurant with a regular flow of customers. I went around 6pm and had no problem getting a table. The waitress was very nice and helpful. My rolls and salad came out super fast! The price for the rolls was good too considering I ordered two specialty rolls. Highly recommend!! read more

came in on father day 6-21-26 horrible experience. not only was the waiter rude and impolite with the way she told us to order didn't even stay one minute to wait for us to order our drinks, she went to attend a family that just barely walked in the door and gave them hugs & acknowledged them as if me and my wife didn't exist. I will never come here again, I will perfer to go to fuji at the Capital Mall due to their hospitality and service. The bathroom at love sushi is horrendous and nasty, completely out dated and has a small stench to it. if it wasn't for two other ppl staring me down that work there i would say its bc they don't have enough help but if they had time to stare me and my wife down then they deff have enough employees to help out the only waiter who was obviously stressed ( mind you it's like a 50 yr old lady attending ppl) I hate it here now and I used to come here all the time. Their service and quality has gone downhill do not eat here if you plan on tipping well bc they do not derserve it.. feel like this place is bias being that we were the only Spanish/latinos there and the rest were English speaking customers. 10/10 would not recommend this place to any of my family or friends. read more

We came to Jefferson City to look at some vehicles and I scoped out some restaurants in the area on yelp and came across this gem. The restaurant was literally half a mile from a dealership we were at and I was starving so it was meant to me. We went inside and it was a small, cozy environment. The exterior looked like an old fast food drive thru restaurant because they had a drive thru window on the side of the building... but of course being the foodie I am, I never judge the book by its cover cus some of the best restaurants look a bit worn down. Now for the service, the asian woman who was serving was- maybe she was the owner- was very attentive and always made sure our water glasses were full and made sure we didn't need anything. When we ordered, it didn't take long for our food to trickle in and man did I not regret choosing this location to eat at! We ordered a shrimp tempura roll, Sexy Guy roll, and the chicken bento box and were so full we could barely even finish our rolls. The food was delicious and mind you, I am extremely picky about my sushi. We will definitely be back for more! This was the best sushi I've had since we've been in Missouri and that's saying a lot considering the fact that I drive to Springfield every week and have tried many restaurants there. read more

First time I have visited Love Sushi. The Oh My! Came out in flames... literally. Presentation was fabulous. We got 2 rolls and shared them. Both were very tasty and I wanted more as the flavor was so good. Luckily I stopped so I wasn't miserable. The place seems busy all the time and is fairly small inside. Been her twice... 5 months ago and tonight. Being from sf ca, I was leery to get sushi in a landlocked state tbh. The first time I went with a friend that had worked in a sushi restaurant so he went in and vouches for them lol. Really fresh and super fast. Love that the chefs greet you when you open the door! I ordered the New Zealand green tip muscles, they were good, a bit heavy on the mayo, but overall pretty good. And would order this again. I also ordered 4 types of sushi - white tuna, octopus, scallop and eel. 2 pcs each. This is the smallest portion of fish and rice that I have ever had at a sushi restaurant. Again the taste was good, but they are ultra conservative on cuts of fish and rice and the price is on the higher side for each order. Not something I will do again. I will likely stick to their rolls next time. read more

We went there on a Saturday night in the middle of July. There was a concert in town, so there weren't that many people as usual during the dinner rush. We were seated right after we entered and given menus. The place was about half full. We looked at our menu and around the restaurant. It was rather cramped quarters as the restaurant is housed in a very small old KFC. We sat there over 10 minutes and saw a man and woman serving people and bringing the checks etc. We had questions about the menu and were waiting to put in the drink orders. As the servers passed, they didn't even look at us, and we were seated in the front row of tables. After being passed three more times, we got up and left. I don't think they saw us leave. I won't go there again. We went to Paddy Malone's instead and had a table and drinks in less than 2 mins. read more

I live in St. Louis, but I will still drive to Jeff City for sushi after becoming hooked on this spot in college. The photo-covered walls really show what a community-centric spot this is and the music videos are great entertainment while dining. But you really haven't dined at Love Sushi until you've witnessed a birthday celebration. read more

The top sushi place in Jefferson City! The staff is always welcoming and friendly. We've ordered dine in and takeout and the food is always delicious - we prefer the Heart Attack, Oops and Tiger rolls but all of them are phenomenal (haven't found a bad one yet). Not necessarily a bad review because over the years I've absolutely had nothing but good experiences having the variety of options off of their menu. Been going there so long I even have my own set of chopsticks, which implies I enjoy and return satisfied. I went in yesterday and got an old familiar favorite along with four pieces of sushi and when the food came out everything was drowning in the sweet and savory dressing with onions, sadly I could not taste the white tuna or salmon sushi fish or the fresh roll as everything is overwhelmed with the sauce, is that the new common place as it's been about a year since I have been and I don't remember having such a poor experience for $30... I suppose next time I'll request in advance they leave it naked... from visiting other sushi restaurants throughout the US I know less is more and the sequence of eating light to dark on the fish is extinguished as the pallet cannot tell the difference when thousand Island dressing is the dominant flavor read more

Like many other yelpers before me, there is nothing I can say that hasn't been said before. YES, they SHOUT a friendly hello to everyone who walks in, YES, they shout a thank you when you're on your way out, YES, the place is brightly lit, loud K-Pop is playing on the various tvs, YES, there are authentic, real, live Japanese sushi chefs behind the counter making rolls and creating magic. And YES, the service is friendly, quick and efficient. The other day I walked into the only Starbucks in Osage Beach only be stared at by a young, unfriendly, obviously "mute" young woman who had never been taught how to welcome a guest that is paying cash money. Not here, these folks are legit as is their sushi....as for those unbelievably pretentious comments about how this place isn't good becasue it's not by the coast, or sea or big fricken pond or whatever...I'm from San Diego and we have excellent Japanese restaurants, Love Sushi could hold their own with the best of them. I am totally stoked to find such a marvelous gem here in Jeff City, thank you fellow yelpers for bringing me to the light...enjoy, you won't find better anywhere else in Jeff City or the lake. read more

I have had the pleasure of eating lunch here on more than one occasion when in Jeff City. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a rousing welcome in Korean and/or Japanese. The service is quick and always friendly. The music had been a tad too loud for me before, but this most recent time, it was fine. The food is beautifully presented, very creative - and tastes good, too. It is because of this place that I stepped out of my comfort zone to try things I would never have tried before. Always, to my delight. (Try the Sexy Lady Roll - presented to you in fire - so fun! It may be a small restaurant, but it packs a big punch of flavor and food is visually lovely (and tasty!). I appreciate that it is not a chain. I like the personal service and touch. I understand they have garnered the first place win for Best Sushi, in Jefferson City. But, of course! Well deserved. What happened to this place? This used to be one of those places where my husband and I both could agree upon. However, they have gone downhill SO BAD!!!!!! Service was pitiful. Love Sushi is one of the best places to eat in Jefferson City. While small and quaint, it's very trendy and clean. The rolls alone are worth the visit. Add on the black bean ice cream and you have a delicious and complete mean. I recommend the Hot Night Roll, Tiger Roll and the Sexy Guy Roll. read more

Since I knew my parents were fond of Chinese food, I used my cell phone to search Yelp's mobile site to see if there were any well-rated, inexpensive Chinese establishments near the highway. As it turned out, this restaurant was just a mile further along an exit where my parents had refueled many times without even knowing it was there. When we entered the restaurant, several things impressed us. The staff was very friendly and courteous to us at all times. My parents remarked upon the large number of bad checks stapled up above the ordering counter, and we all had a chuckle at a somewhat unfortunately-named menu item (see second photo). The dining area was relatively small, with just five or six tables, but did not feel crowded. Familiar with how such restaurants often have huge portions, we ordered two entrees (Mongolian Beef, Beef with Broccoli) to split among the three of us. The entrees came with fried or steamed rice (we chose fried) and an egg roll (or various other options, but we chose the egg roll) each, and we ordered an extra egg roll to make three. My parents were pleased to see that the hot tea they ordered actually was real, freshly-made tea, and came in cute (albeit not terribly Oriental) ceramic mugs. However, I was a little nonplussed that when I ordered "just water" to drink (which I had intended to mean just a cup of tap water, not wanting to add unduly to my parents' bill) they gave me bottled water instead. We all agreed that the food was excellent, and certainly well within our budget. The egg rolls were hand-made--not the frozen kind that many restaurants serve. The portions were such that 2/3 of an entree + egg roll was sufficient to fill us all up entirely. We were delighted by the good quality, good price, and convenience to the Interstate that we found in this little strip-mall Chinese restaurant. If we should ever again be passing through the area at the appropriate time, I imagine we would eat here again.
