Nice juice/acai spot in downtown Hilo by all the other shops. Lots of juice options, apparently you can make a bowl with any of the smoothies as a base, we kept it simple and stuck to a classic acai bowl. It was delicious, only comment is that the they seemed to use frozen blueberries rather than fresh. Even with that, it was still great. A little pricey, but big enough portion for me and SO to split one.

I got the large acai bowl and it's cheaper if you pay cash ($18.25). A bit on the pricey side but very delicious! Nice service, super cute menu, I'll definitely be back to try something else

Acai Berry as base and added strawberries and almond butter.

Acai consistency was more watered down. More like a smoothie consistency. I added strawberries, and would think they would be fresh but they were frozen. Great service but wouldn't come back here.

Great spot if you're looking for a smoothie bowl with lots of diverse options! Their bowls all have a healthy spin too with fresh ingredients like ginger, tumeric, bee pollen, etc. My monkey bowl was a bit toooo ginger for my liking haha since i was craving more of a decadent type bowl, however it was still a nice spot to grab for an afternoon snack!

They got a great menu for a beach picnic; freshly pressed juices, smoothies, Acai bowls, sandwiches and my favorite rice, beans and veggies; Love Bowl. Service is always super good, friendly, fast and attentive. I never hesitate to go here cos the vibe always good. The ambiance of food made with love is felt -

Love love love! Had an acai bowl and been craving one every day since the first time i tried it. I got a classic acai bowl which had granola, peanut butter, banana, honey, chia seeds, and blue berries. So simple yet so delicious - you can tell they make their food with love. So perfect for a hot summer day. Lots of different healthy food options from smoothies, juices, smoothie bowls, salads, and toast. So glad i came across Loved by the Sun! Definitely stop by if you are in Hilo.

I love this place. It is my favorite place to go after a nice long walk in the Japanese Gardens. Whether it's the Heartbeet or the Mermaid Juice with the fresh Acai Bowls, I am never disappointed. The staff is so friendly and kind they greet you with a smile and are always happy to have a conversation. I have to be honest, I haven't tried anything else but the wonderful blend of peanut butter, macadamia nuts, honey, and bee pollen because it is so delicious. I visit the island frequently to stay for long stints of time with family and one of the gals said you are here so much you really should sign up for rewards. There is nothing but Ohana here and it shows. The presentation of the juices and bowls also shows all the love they have for their food and their guests. I look forward to seeing you all in December!

Written on my return reciet. I took offense, I am a believer of love kindness and honesty.

Beware about the loyalty program!!It seems like a scam!Over the last year I've spend over 100$every visit.I was building up points&1 of my previous visits in Jan,I was told I received my 33 points needed to receive$10 off.I was told it never expires.I live over 1.5hrs away.So I don't visit all the time.I came back in Mar,I was told that the$10 was no longer available, the loyalty program went up.The young lady said it was the policy and could not change it.I mentioned to the young lady that I was told it never expires.& if I had earned*10 dollars then I should be able to use it since it never expires. Her response was unkind and a bit nasty,w/dirty looks.Saying it's the owners rule not mine.It was such an incredibly rude tone&look, that I decided to put back my order,I had not finished paying yet.I asked for my receipt and then I took time to tell her why I returned my order.Asked for the owners contact&name,I explained I was contacting owner regarding the 10$credit only not the young girls unfavorable response.I was honest with her directly &I said it with kindness. I thanked her for listening before leaving. She asked what is was she had done&admitted that she was frustrated with my questions.I felt we had a productive conversation&no hard feelings.THEN I read my return receipt&this is what was written to me(posted in the pic section&at the end of post labeled***) I was shocked, never spoke w/the owner.I'm all about love, kindness,&gratitude&it didn't begin in25:)I was just born that way.So to whom ever wrote me on my receipt no worries.SO JUICY HAWAII right around the corner from you is happy to have my business,&a bonus:all the ingredients posted on the bottles as required by the health department!:)I 100%recommend So Juicy Hawaii made in Hawaii by Hawaiians!Organic too. Many Alohas.just remembered when I givted LBTS the most beautiful biggest avos. I'm a sharer! Also just an fyi for the receipt note writter.A loyalty program that is publicly advertised is a consumers right, not a privilage!Otherwise it is called false advertisement&is concidered fraud/theft if not honored. We as customers have something called consumers rights!Hopefully you will comunicate with a customer before judging and writing rude responses.I certainly did not appreciate it.Be well and Aloha! *This is what the receipt said.. ***ReturnHEART OPENER-$13.50Reason: The Loyalty Program is a Privilege, not a right. If you would have expressed your disapointment in a way that was not volatile we could have offered to honor the $10 reward even though we have been telling our regular customers about this change for over 30 days. Your money is not welcomed here, its 2025, choose kindness. Mahalo :)**** end of receipt message.Ask yourself, how would this type of message affect you if it was written to you& is this a company you want to support?Especially if your like me, so far from volatile it's polar opposite.Hope this post helps:) mahalos ****update after owner replied**Appreciate the full refundmahalos! 2 clarify some things.I earned the reward that never expires. I was told deffinatively that I was not going to recieve the$10.I returned my order because of your employees response to my inquiry of how its possible to deny my earned reward. Not because you raised your loyalty program.I do not have any feelings about your new policy change in general.Other than not honoring the rewards that had been previously earned.I was clear about my intention to speak with the owner about having the company honor the earned reward,&only that.I would have never mentioned the poor exchange I had experienced with your employee.I had discussed it with her directly in which I felt she was receptive,&respectful, this is why I thanked her for hearing me out.I felt no need to discuss it further with the owner,it was between her and I.ONLY after reading the refund receipt I felt as tho I had been mislead with false adversement. As well as feeling falsely accused of being volatile and implying that I do not choose kindness.Whom ever wrote the note telling me that my money is not welcomed is not the same as saying you don't want to profit off of a dissatisfied customer.Hoping when you say"we"all need to take responsibility that you are referring to your employees responses.I dont want to assume that you the owner sanctioned the message written to me on my refund receipt? In the case you did approve it or write it, then you also hold the responsibility.I take full responsibility of of being a kind person that behaves and treats others with dignity and grace. It would have been wonderful to have resolved this person to person, and kept it between business and consumer.I hold responsibility for submitting my review as well.Aloha to you, appreciate that you honored the$10, in the form of a full refund that resulted in an additional$4 off for the drink my friend had already opened. Mahalo& be well

Great acai bowls and beet salad as always. I love the dressing and the macadamia nuts on top of the salad.

Loved by the Sun is one of those food establishments that you feel good about eating at. The workers are friendly, and the food is delicious and healthy. There is limited parking on the same street that it's on, unless you park along Kamehameha Avenue. Nonetheless, the parking game is worth it for this food. I called in my order because I was unsure how crowded this place would get. I ordered the beet salad and a super cosmic acai bowl. The beet salad was so yummy! It had a lot of different toppings and crunchy textures. There were beets (of course), feta, Mac nuts, cucumbers, and onions on the salad. I think the Mac nuts added a nice crunch. It also had balsamic dressing, which was perfect. The super cosmic bowl was super yummy too. We ordered a big size to share, and the thing was huge! I didn't know that you are allowed to choose your base, so I went with the regular acai. I think you can choose from one of the smoothie flavors as your base. The cosmic bowl had the most interesting toppings I've ever had on an acai bowl, but the mix of flavors and textures made the bowl perfect. It had cacao nibs, goji berries, peanut butter, hemp seeds, and more. The acai was pretty good, but more on the watery side. It might've been because I waited some time to eat it, and it was previously frozen, since we called in our order. I would definitely recommend this place for a refreshing meal when in Hilo!

The staff were genuinely friendly (not forced or scripted), and you can tell they actually care about the food and the experience. The food itself? Legit impressive. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor--not the bland "healthy food" stereotype people sometimes expect. The portions were solid, and the ingredients clearly high quality. You can tell they're not cutting corners here. What stood out most was how satisfying everything was. Even if you're not vegan, you won't feel like you're missing anything. This is the kind of place that could easily convert skeptics. Bonus points for creativity--there were unique options you don't see everywhere, which made it feel like more than just another plant-based spot. If you're in Hilo--whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or just want a really good meal--this place is 100% worth your time. I'll definitely be back.

We didn't think of anything when we saw it the first time. By just looking at the name of it though, my immediate reaction was, "Is this a kombuchas bar??" Well, it is but it's not just kombuchas they serve; it's more than that. The breakfast/brunch dishes they serve (although they don't have a huge selection) are quite diverse. I do incorporate a lot of vegetarian/vegan diet into my daily meal routine so when I saw the Verdant Vegan I simply couldn't skip it. As my daughter and I usually split a plate when we dine together she agreed to this option of mine. Glad we did. This plate has all sorts of goodness included in it. Sautéed veggies, house-made lentil walnut chorizo, ginger beet kraut, fire-roasted jalapeno cashew crema, fire-roasted tomato salsa, and it's topped it off with sprouts. This whole thing comes with either purple sweet potato home fries or red rice (which we went with the purple sweet potato fries and ended up getting a side red rice. We also got the side kimchi and one egg sunny side up.) And we shared a 16oz Ceremonial Matcha latte as well. This vegan plate is way more than vegan. It's mighty as hell. For those who are still not sure about vegan options will definitely second guess it for something that isn't vegan/vegetarian. It's truly nutrition packed in so many different ways. If I lived close to this cafe, I would eat here once a week to enjoy this delightful meal. I am not kidding. I enjoyed the matcha latte very much although my daughter rated it as "okay". She likes her matcha in a very particular way so it unfortunately didn't impress her. This is not to say that she disliked it. She said it wasn't bad either. This place is a "walk in, order upfront, pick a table where you want to sit and one of the staff will bring your food to you" style cafe. Water is self-served. Once you are done with your meal you'll put your dirty dishes in the designated tub. I like this efficient style of serving food. This place has great vibes as well. A bit hippie-ish where bright dark colors such as purple and red are incorporated into the interior. There is even a stage where bands perform on certain days/times. Quite cool-looking. If you are visiting Hilo soon then put this place on your "must visit" restaurant list. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and quality food will entertain you for sure.

We were most impressed by the fact that the waitress made sure to split our Hilo local plate into two plates to make it much easier to share! We almost thought we had received two orders because of how well-plated they were. - Poke tower (8/10): Solid choice for an appetizer! There were ample portions of poke, and the flavors were nice. Not a super stand out dish though. - Hilo local plate (9.5/10): If you want to taste a wide range of Hawaiian cuisine in one dish, I would highly recommend getting this one! The Kalbi ribs were sooo good! They were juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Kalua pork was pretty good, and both meats paired well with the rice which had an interesting savory haupia sauce drizzled on it. The mango chili slaw and pineapple salsa added a nice tang to balance everything out. - Triple lilikoi pie (5/10): Wayyy too sweet and sugary for our liking, and you can barely taste the lilikoi flavor. We showed up right when they opened at 5:30 p.m. without reservations on a Wednesday evening and was luckily able to get seated at the bar. Between the two of us, we ordered a bunch of items off the "small" section of the menu, including the smokey sashimi, sizzling tetsuyaki poke, smoked tonnato caesar, crispy rice, and their special of the day -- agedashi wontons. Of the items we ordered, the crispy rice and the agedashi wontons were my favorite items. The crispy rice is priced per piece, and you'll certainly want to order at least two per person, because one is simply not enough. The rice block is fried a beautiful golden brown -- similar to a hash brown. The crispy rice pairs perfectly with the ono mixture on top of it. With the agedashi wontons, I initially thought the filling was a bit under-seasoned at first, but when enjoyed with the broth, the wonton comes out tasting perfectly seasoned. The broth had so much umami to it and the wonton had the perfect crunch to it I always love a good Caesar salad and the one here is spectacular. With anchovy croutons, shaved cured egg yolk, and smoked ahi dressing, you're getting some creative, premium ingredients in this salad and everything works so well together. Even if you're not a salad person, I would definitely recommend giving this dish a try. On top of delicious food, the service at Moon & Turtle was spectacular. Food was promptly brought out after we placed our order, pacing didn't ever feel rushed, our water cups were never empty, and our server checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. It was a proper salad with fresh local greens, sliced cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and another white shredded vegetable that I think was radish. My chicken was delicious and the portion of that was generous as well. I tasted my husband's curry but didn't really like the flavor. MY GUY, IT WAS NOT BUSY. one table was as waiting to be seated and no one else was waiting on food. I get it, he could be having a bad day, or his cat is sick, but like, it's an open kitchen. So then, we get to our food. The buns were with the meat, causing both of our buns to be soggy, like falling apart. I get it. He could have packaged it all differently, but I know those to-go containers are not the greatest for the environment, so that must have been the factor. But the beef patty and chicken... they were large, so we were really looking forward to them. But they were so bland. Not even salt or pepper, no sauce, garlic powder, nothing. I couldn't even chop up the chicken for my salad, as I was only given a singular half ounce container of dressing. They do have Girl Scout cookies for sale, and I'm sure those would be fine.
