While we were in there, I figured I'd look for a dress for an upcoming wedding in 2 weeks, as well as a Gala in October. I've heard great things about the clothes at this store, but I've never shopped here. The second I picked up a dress, I was approached by a salesperson. She asked me what I was looking for, and I told her. She asked my name, introduced herself, and asked my dress size. She told me she'd set aside the dress I had picked in a fitting room, and will pick up a few others I might like to try on. I continued to look around. When I went into the fitting room, the salesperson said she'd get a pair of shoes for me to try on with the dresses. Now, I understand what's going on here. I've worked in retail for years. I appreciate the idea of trying on shoes with a dress to get the complete look, and they're obviously hoping for a sale on the shoes w/ the dress. I didn't try on all of the dresses, but I loved the one I originally picked, and one that she set in the room for me. I also loved the shoes, of course. My mother-in-law thought they were a little pushy, but I get it. They did a great job. Staff worked as a team very well, and the customer service was outstanding. As busy as they were, my salesperson never abandoned me. Her sales skills were professional and personable, not fake and annoying. Normally, I want to be left alone when shopping & don't want to be bothered with annoying & pushy sales people. For whatever reason, I didn't fight it and let them cater to me. It was kind of nice! They provided everything I needed to complete my outfit, and build their sale. I walked in there without the intention of buying anything, and walked out with 2 dresses, a pair of shoes, and jewelry. I had a great experience and will definitely be back to hand over more of my hard earned money.

I was approached, asked about what the outfit was for, and told them I was okay to look on my own. The sales woman took my dress and read my size and stuffed my room full of clothes. She also told me she'd be right back with pants. Not so fast. I asked her to take everything out of the room and told her I didn't need any pants. I came in here for one dress, pulled a few that I liked based on my price point, and would let her know if I needed any help. She huffed and snapped at me - she said she was trying to help ME. (She was really trying to help herself). When we finally did need help, she made sure to ignore us. My Mom had a concern about the dress but she just walked off while my Mom was mid-sentence. We got help from another sales woman who was less aggressive and ended up leaving with the dress freshly steamed in a garment bag. I try to avoid this store at all costs because I cannot handle rude, pushy employees who want to smother you with their "suggestions". I know it's her job, but what would have made her sale sweeter is if she offered us help when we needed it, not revoked her manners when we weren't going to purchase items of her choice. Great selection. I will return, but with headphones and little to no eye contact!

There was no proof, just that the item was missing. I told her I didn't take anything and offered to help look for it--if she stopped threatening me. Instead, she took me to court. It took three months for them to produce video footage, which confirmed what I'd said all along: I never stole anything. I was not found guilty of any crime, yet I was forced to pay over $1,500 in legal costs simply to defend myself against a baseless accusation. Glow Fish Studios doesn't feel like a business anymore--it feels like a sting operation run by someone who gets a little too much satisfaction from accusing and humiliating people. I used to shop here often. I have no criminal background. This was deeply traumatic, and it seems they care more about "catching shoplifters" than actually treating customers like human beings. If you value integrity, avoid this place. They are not the small business they pretend to be. Overpriced shit that isn't even from real witches. Just gentrified, rich white women who profit off aesthetics, not authenticity. Save yourself the drama and support Motown Witch or Moonlit Mystic LLC--actual Black-owned Detroit shops that honor the craft and don't treat their customers like suspects.

The cashier rang up the clearance and charged me for all 4 items. I pointed out that they were clearance items. She proceeded to tell me that even though they were in the clearance section and that they were 90% off their original price, the sign for the clearance section was directly over them and didn't say anything was excluded, they were not considered clearance. The cashier said they were considered "promo" items. Even the Hot Topic website has them listed as clearance so needless to say I didn't get the deal they were advertising they had.

As soon as I told her what I was shopping for she was right on top of leading me to the proper section with clothing I was looking for. On top of that she was making sure I knew of all the amazing deals they had going on (which there were a lot of deals and they were surprisingly amazing). She helped me pick out new work pants that were comfortable, affordable, fit right, and looked great. She also helped my mom find some new clothes just because of the great deals.
